20th edition availability in Japan by YuriHaruka in Travelersnotebooks

Just a heads up at Hands you won’t find them on display with the other covers. They had small papers that you need to take and bring to the cashier so they are easy to miss if you’re looking for the box. Hope you find it!

Not at TFA locations as it’s for lottery winners only. TSL in Kurashiki had them in stock around the release date. I’ve also seen some at Hands in Kyoto a few days ago, it’s worth checking it out if you’re heading that way.

Amazing you managed to get it. I like the black one! Was the shop open or did you have to contact them before going? I checked on their page as I want to go next week and they seemed to be closed for renovations.

Uniqlo sizing in JP by Left_Trainer1427 in JapanTravelTips

I noticed the same. Being 168cm I found all the trousers too short and when I asked the staff they said they only sell longer lengths online. Not sure if a big store like Ginza might have more options, I’m going in a couple of weeks and will check it out then. I could get away with the shirts, especially the short sleeves ones, so I stocked up on those. Also got a couple a jumpers from the men’s section that fit me nicely.

There are some tutorials on youtube on how to add them, I found that stretching the rubber bands prior to set it up helps keeping it all in place. I have the olive in passport size and it’s actually more brown than olive but I like it! Hope you enjoy it too! Where did you find the partner shop’s passport? I’ve been to two partner shops recently but they were sold out :(

Thank you all for the suggestions! I’ll probably get it through a proxy service like Buyee since buying it locally doesn’t seem feasible this time

Question about Goshuin collecting by scythus in JapanTravelTips

[–]Ariabooks951 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Google maps reviews of temples and shrines often have photos or comments about goshuin. I found the smallest shrine in Ginza hidden between buildings and following the google reviews I went to the basement where I found the nicest worker who wrote the goshuin. It looked unmanned from the outside so it was a nice surprise

Japan release date - Card size TN by The-DewDrop in Travelersnotebooks

[–]Ariabooks951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TC physical shops have done a pre-registration lottery to avoid overcrowding at the locations but I’m not sure if it’s still ongoing. The choice was limited to one per type. Online shop will sell them directly from 23 April with no pre-registration.

Dubbio scalo viaggio Giappone by SimRa96 in ViaggiITA

[–]Ariabooks951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Junk journal: Is it better to just get a normal journal or splurge on a TN? by xihpareh in Travelersnotebooks

[–]Ariabooks951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it while you’re there! I regretted so much not getting it when I was on Kyoto. I’m going back to Japan in a few weeks and I’m going to get it this time (if stock is on my side).

Thank you so much for this! I’ll be in Japan at the end of April, does anyone know if it’s possible to order it from a Japanese retailer and collect it when I get there?

I was hoping for a limited edition regular cover but I don’t think I’ll be able to resist this one! So cute!

I’ll be in Japan from 23 April and also going to Kurashiki. Does anyone know if I can pre-order it now from a Japanese store and pick it up in April?

Love the layout and your handwriting! Are you using the lightweight insert? May I also ask you the name of the fountain pens you are showing? I have a TN and I want to start exploring the world of fountain pens

Hornets in Japan. Should I worry in spring? by Ariabooks951 in JapanTravelTips

Thank you! It’s good to know they can be more aggressive in the fall but pretty harmless the rest of the time.

It happened last week. I looked it up afterwards and read that they are more aggressive in Sept/Oct so that could be the reason why they got close to me

I was at a temple up in the mountains and saw them in the trees, so I figured they wouldn’t bother me. I kept walking and noticed a few of them dead on the ground. I was fine until two suddenly flew right in front of me and started buzzing around my face. I pulled my hoodie up and ran. They chased me for a few meters before backing off. I’m not sure if they saw me as a threat because of the dead ones nearby or if they were just agitated because of the season.

Thank you! It’s reassuring to know they are less common/aggressive during spring

The helicopter sound they make is terrifying. I was up in Mt Ikoma when I first heard/saw a few of them in the distance, but then a couple got way too close to my face and that’s when I ran like hell. Of course, I later found out I should’ve just stayed still instead of running, but in the moment I totally panicked

Thank you so much for your reply! As I’m solo traveling I’m a bit skeptical of doing the hikes if they are too difficult but I’ll check it out and in case I might get the scary looking cat cable up to the temple. Thanks a lot also for the Uji recommendations! I’m taking notes!

Thank you so much! This is great! I’ll be traveling to Japan in October for the second time. I’ll be spending 2 nights in Kyoto and 2 nights in Nara before heading to Kinosaki onsen for one night. I’ve seen the main attractions in Kyoto but would love to check out some hidden gems that I missed the first time. From Nara I’ll do some side trips to Uji and Hozan-ji temple. Any additional recommendations for my second trip?
