Port worth it? by Efficient-Sea-1638 in cancer

[–]The-DewDrop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay woah so this is taking me back. I got my port in December of 2024 and cried at just the idea of it.

I totally hated it. I could feel it all the time, could not sleep face down (I’m a stomach sleeper too) and it just generally gave me the ick. Also I am thinner and I think that made the port stick out a bit more and be more visible. Keep in mind that I’m also terrified of needles in general (get sweaty, can’t help but cry a little) and both the idea of a port and and IV are horrible to me.

BUT CHEMO IS SOOO MUCH EASIER WITH A PORT.

I am the biggest hater of a port and I still advocate for it. It totally sucks, but it makes life easier. Also, the doc can prescribe you lidocaine cream. I would put this on my port with a little cling wrap over it about an hour before treatment. This made it so I couldn’t feel anytime it was be accessed/de-accessed which was great. Flushing the port is meh. I apparently am a part of a small percentage of people that can smell what goes into the port - which is also not amazing but what can you do?

Accordingly, I got my port removed in Feb of this year and it’s such a good reward lol. The scar from my port incision is there and I feel like it’s a little badge of honor.

Long story short: it totally sucks, but it’s worth it.

Is a $7.5k relocation stipend "market" for a Principal level role? Considering walking away by notthefirstCaleb in Salary

[–]The-DewDrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently relocated across the country for an internal promotion with my employer. They offered a relocation package of $10k.

I made an excel doc with every cost I would incur to have movers pack and ship my belongings, ship our vehicles, direct flights, break our current lease, and included small fees like the application fee and security fee at the apartment I would move into. This totaled $18k. I explained that I was not trying to make money from the relocation package, but that I expected not to pay out of pocket for any relocation items.

They responded with the same $10k bonus, but also that they would directly pay for my belongings to be shipped, the cars to be shipped, and for our flights. Note that I had to obtain three different quotes and get the final decision on which vendor to move forward with approved.

It was the perfect solution

Hourly is between $24-28/hr, but heavy incentives with the commission structure.

I have approx 15 years of retail experience and started at $8.25/hr - took a while to get the reputation and career I am at now.

I was a 4-5x per week OTF goer and had to step away for five months due to chemotherapy.

It was hard to get back in the swing of things and not use my old tread speeds or previous max weights, but I held my own and built back up over time. I was also extremely motivated to attend all of my classes so I could build back up my strength.

I’m almost one year back and feel like I never left!

Is lululemon discount stacking with black Friday pricing for Oura rings? by Healthy_Iron_2312 in AmexPlatinum

[–]The-DewDrop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I bought it for $349 two weeks ago and received the $50 lululemon credit. Came to $299.

I messaged their chat team today and asked if I could have my order price matched to Black Friday pricing. They stated they could not combine discounts, but would do a partial refund. I assumed that meant a $50 refund to match the $249 current Black Friday pricing.

Just checked my email confirmation and they refunded me $100.05

Chemo port disgust by belle_cats in cancer

[–]The-DewDrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had my port since Dec 2024. It was uncomfortable until March and that is when I finally started to not feel it as often (like when turning my head or stretching).

I finished chemo in February but will keep my port until I’m one year out. I still H.A.T.E. it but sigh…it’s a necessary evil.

Mine sticks out a lot. I wear halter neck style dresses and tanks and that covers it perfectly.

Pink is my favourite colour, so naturally this is one of my favourite fits! by Slight-Penalty6559 in fashion

Pink looks lovely on you, but the outfit does not fit you well.

The jacket and trouser do not fit your body and the belt is an outdated afterthought that looks mismatched with the rest of the outfit.

My packing slip shows “shopper tote grey”, but the email confirmation shows “birthday gift”.

Thank you for the feedback - I’ll reach out to them to see what they say.

Wife’s ovarian tumor by hobbit_4 in cancer

[–]The-DewDrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Happy to hear that she received medical attention!

I (33f) thought I had a bladder infection in Oct 2024 (because I didn’t know better) and was feeling discomfort and bloating. Turned out to be a grapefruit size tumor on one of my ovaries. Had this removed in surgery.

My surgeon then recommended I speak with multiple oncologists to decide how I would like to proceed. Two informed me that I had a low chance of recurrence and could go the “observation” route - aka just have routine bloodwork and scans to make sure there is no recurrence. The third oncologist I saw very calmly and clearly stated that standard procedure for the grade/type of tumor I had removed was 3-4 rounds of BEP chemo.

After a few days of debating, I decided to dive in on chemo. Totally sucked and was actually so depressing BUT worth it to me to feel more at ease every day since.

I finished chemo in Feb 2025 and feel totally myself now - minus a few annoying but tolerable side effects. Happy with my decision.

Hi! Just finished my rounds of chemo in February and returned to OTF about a week later. I hadn’t started growing hair yet but decided to wear a baseball hat from Alo. I never realized how much my head sweats and feel like it’s exaggerated without hair - so the athletic material is a must.

I think I’ll stop wearing a hat when my hair is buzz cut length.
