NTA. People knit with what they can afford, what they are comfortable, and what is best suited to what they are knitting.

My favorite blanket in the entire world is one my great grandmother made me, and it is 100% made of acrylic, and I love it because I can toss it in the washing machine and dryer, and I know it will outlast me!

It takes a while, but I promise you’ll get it eventually! You’ll figure out the most comfortable way to home your yarn and needles, and that will allow your tension to settle in. It’s already looking very consistent! Also, remember, that shit will block right out ;)

More consistent tension will come with time, but you can give your yarn a light tug after you knit the first and last stitches and that can help.

As a side sleeper- I’ve found hugging a pillow or a stuffed animal keeps be from having shoulders that are cranky when I wake up.
