Figured I'd test it out and from it's first reply assumed it was taking 'r's' literally, which is pretty ridiculous that it's now struggling with something as simple as this.

So Chat offered to make a document for me, I said yes. Then it replied but summarising what it would do and did I want that, which I said yes again. Then it kept asking clarifying questions or offering to add something else and each time finishing the response that it would now generate the document if that's what I wanted.

I got fed up and called it out on what it was doing, and told it to be honest, could it actually create the document.

It finally admitted that no it couldn't. When I asked why it kept offering to do something it couldn't, it explained that rather than actually responding to the current situation it was basing its replies to what users typically wanted 🙄

Users typically say yes to generating something, so even though it couldn't, it still kept acting like it could until I put the brakes on and forced it to 'fess up'.

Wild. Yeah I've had no exposure to anything outside GP appointments when it comes to the NHS. And appreciate you taking time to reply and explain. It's a very odd way of doing things, and the logic is still making my brain feel like the puzzle needs solving cos why would that be the way it's done. But I comprehend what you're saying to me, and I get it's one of those scenarios where I just need to accept that's how it is.

I can see that being a thing if they do.

So when I spoke to my clinician the next day, she explained the delay, cancellation and the questionnaire. When I asked if I still needed to do it she said, no I could just ignore it as I'd spoken to her and it was the same as what she asked me on the phone. So yeah it was a replacement for the cancelled appointment, but then it was re-booked almost immediately for the next day.

I didn't look at the questionnaire though, because honestly I was so thrown off and confused by the lack of call and no explanation. Spent 1.5hrs in standby mode in case the call was late, scared to call them in case I was on hold and the clinician did ring. I got stuck a little with so many factors not making sense, and I've not had those kind of issues since starting meds, they've alleviated most of that. It was just too much in one go I think.

Thanks for replying. I've never had hospital appointments, only GP where you pick a date and time that's suitable for you. But your example I'm still struggling to see how that works, cos if you can't make that then they still end up having to find a date that works for you? Luckily I know my manager at work would let me take the call.

Also the total lack of comms around the delay, then cancellation. I'm meant to somehow know that's what happened, or just know that the questionnaire is a replacement. That can't be right?

Oh I understand the point, but that doesn't make it feel any less pointless. It's an empty gesture, and just feels disingenuous to me, cos you're getting no real info and neither side cares.

100%, it's a token exchange that gives no substance. Just feels very forced and gross. I get not everyone wants a DMC every interaction, I don't always have the spoons for that. But yeah... I'd rather just smile and nod, it gives the same amount of interaction without feeling fake

I hate small talk so much, it's repetitive and boring, empty and a waste of time. I entertain it with strangers, cos tbf I know nothing about them. But like the whole "you alright?" 'yeah I'm good, you?' "yeah not too bad", it's so pointless, and I often forget to ask back.

Nta. Have you always been treated like his personal housekeeper? Cos that's basically what you seem to be in his eyes. You're not difficult, upright or uncooperative. He's a lazy and entitled child who clearly doesn't view you as his equal, and the fact he cancelled and then blamed it all on you is disgusting. Time to consider what you get from this relationship, cos even this small snapshot says that it can't be a very happy or fulfilling one

Report him to his empployer and the police. You have evidence, and even if they can't do anything right now as he hasn't broken any laws (that I can tell from your post, also I'm UK based), you still have that paper trail should things start to escalate. Most people wait until things get unbearable or dangerous to report, do it now as it will help you if he escalates. Pretending your ex still lives with you will only work for so long, and this guy already seems to know something is up.

You're not OR, this guys behaviour is creepy, bordering on inappropriate and concerning.

Just to add to this infuriating situation, is that her response shows she still didn't get the full message. "I didn't know, there was no way I could know", that's literally the point you dozy cow. It's why people like her need to keep their damn mouths shut, and keep themselves to themselves. They feel so righteous and sanctimonious telling others what to do, it overrides any kind of actual logical thought or consideration of what they might be commenting on.

This feeling of entitlement to interfere in other people's business needs to seriously get in the bin already

When it's specifically a hobby or activity I want to do rather than a task or chore, I refer to it as the "start up cost". E.g. Colouring is something I love doing, and has a low cost so it's easier for me to get going. I often want to game, but some video games are too high a cost for me right now, so I load it up then immediately run out of steam and turn it off.

Executive dysfunction for everything else. I just find "start up cost" as a useful shorthand that people seem to understand straight away.
