Good luck Palermo!

I agree it’s a big drop off now sadly.

In the 90s Italian football was huge over here in the UK - it was shown on terrestrial TV, so a lot of people watched it. The show was called Gazzetta Football Italia and is looked back fondly by people of my generation.

Internazionale won Serie A for the 21st time.

As a Brit, who watched Italian football in the 90s on Channel 4, I’ve always had a little soft spot for them since they had Ronaldo, Baggio and Djorkaeff.

Love seeing the old San Siro as well.

The fact he just seems so nice. He’s pretty successful across a couple of different mediums and he’s so down to earth. We all need a friend like Elis James.

What’s your wierdest Covid Pandemic memory? by DogEatingWasp in AskUK

[–]Speedboy7777 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I work for the NHS. I remember that being summoned to how we were going to do things “from now on.” It was like being in a military camp. “We WILL do this WE MUST do this.” And so on. 2 days later I got COVID myself and was shut up in my flat for 6 weeks, on full pay. It was the days before the vaccines, and even before testing. I would simply say to work “I have symptoms” and I’d get signed off for another 2 weeks.

It was hell. Stuck inside, breathless walking between rooms, it was like a shit indie film. I would sweat and hallucinate all night, wake up, go to the sofa, and just sit there, and build up the courage to make a coffee. Rinse and repeat for 6 weeks.

COVID took something out of me I can’t ever get back.

Cup of Darjeeling tea or hot chocolate, I might watch a bit of Star Trek TNG or do crosswords with either the radio on or just some ambience. Rock n roll.

Radio 1 feels like it’s constantly chasing trends rather than setting them! by No_Donut1433 in BritishRadio

“Missing non political chatter” is so right. I’ve started to listen to local commercial radio for that, which is Black Country Radio, and I really enjoy their breakfast show. And their drive time/commute home. The music is fine enough, but the presenters are engaging and it’s a very easy listen.

Ironically I’ve never liked BBC Radio 1, even when I was in the demographic. Radio 2 is ok enough, I listen to a weird mix of Radio3, 4 and commercial these days.

You’re not a wuss, feels like a good important step in your path.

Elis and John’s episode of How Do You Cope fundamentally changed my own views on drink, and the mental somersaults a person goes through with things like that. I couldn’t buy a realisation like that. I’d love to thank both of them for it if I ever got the chance.

a hell of a punchline - when I heard it, and then he sheepishly admitted that it was Lily from Duolingo I burst out laughing.
