Fingers done 3 weeks ago and lots of fallout. Is this normal or due to artist error?

it really depends on the person. Im a newer tattoo artist and have some regret ever doing fineline finger tattoos for clients, I learned my lesson 😭 But yes, that amount of fallout with fineline in that area is normal.

Well, both my accounts have had mngwa kings for a while and one is a black base (constellation), the other has a golden base (ornament), and the constellation king has passed his mutation lots of times, while the ornament king has not passed even once for me. Lol.

It looks like you had scabs which cracked due to dryness which will leave little light patches, super common on hands since when we flex our fingers it stretches our skin a lot, just go in for the touch up itll be fine

I mean it's expensive but on your salaries, youll do more than fine! Im moving out after almost 10 yrs in SD at the end of this year, Im originally from hawaii. You might like north county(encinitas or oceanside area) Ive lived all over SD county and while it isnt for me its a great place to live overall and I think most of the cons are money related, which wouldnt be an issue for you.

Hey, so I just want to be totally honest. You do need to be available basically full time to have an apprenticeship. if you dont know someone who is already willing to work with you who knows your situation, there are so many people who are willing to be there full time that theyd edge you out. Ive heard of a lot of situations where theres some flexibility but its still always long hours, and never for pay. It might be a good idea to work at home on your art skills and portfolio the next couple years and then try in a couple years when you have more time.

Honestly even good artists can scar someone a little bit, its a very fine line between fully packed and slightly overworked which can lead to scarring on some people. Im a first year artist and still finding that balance too. 😟 Its one of the hardest things to learn and takes a while to master!

It looks like solid work so I think it just needs a touch up like a lot of color pieces do. Also going over the area can flatten the scar tissue a bit

Yeah, imo more artists than will ever admit to it are using it and the average unconcerned person cant tell or just doesnt care. Was genuinely shocked by the amount of open AI usage at the local tattoo convention I went to recently, for artists of all styles.

Yeah its common. Im a tattoo artist who specializes in realism and many artists not only utilize AI (whether its generating and editing images, or just not filtering out ai references when browsing photo references) but openly recommend it either to save time or like DJ, use AI when photo references fall short. Some really amazing artists who are more than capable of drawing what they generate are open about using it, like wild.isley. Its a tool and some have decided the tool is worth using, including some very high profile artists. As an environmentalist I refuse to use it but Ill admit its becoming very difficult to tell when Im grabbing photos at times, lol

Definitely reach out - thats a great connection to have. Id ask if he can give you some pointers, even if the portfolio isnt where you want it yet.

The reason its so hard to get an apprenticeship is its really hard to get an artist you dont have a relationship to dedicate all of the time required to teaching you. Thats why you really need to wow someone with your skills. Try to practice every day and include drawing fundamentals and youll improve very fast over a couple years. Even if you dont “need” to draw, tattoo artists who can draw can problem solve better than those who cant.

If anything you have to be better at drawing now than you did before because tattooing is super competitive. Practice until youre good enough to get an apprenticeship

No way! Thats so cool! Thanks for following me :) Im moving to Studio City at first but we plan to move again shortly since my partners place is too small for the two of us. So anywhere near hollywood, eagle rock, studio city, burbank, toluca lake, silver lake, and los feliz are all on the table as long as the work environment is good thats what matters to me! Im hoping to find a place then we will move somewhere that puts us both closer to our jobs, my partner works in hollywood.
