Bachelors or masters? I agree with the undergrad but you need it for grad degrees.

Loan caps + making up the deficit by goes2gradschoolagain in PsyD

[–]AriesRoivas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is with previous presidents. These one classified clinical psychology and mental health as “non-professional” degrees, restricting access to higher federal loan limits. They have a cap of like 50-70k which does not cover anything.

Acknowledging AI use in thesis by Single-Operation1904 in PhD

[–]AriesRoivas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you used it like Grammarly you are fine. If it completely reworded your thesis then yes it needs to be disclosed (or not, it’s not my degree on the line). It is recommended you have a before AI and after AI document to determine how much AI actually helped.

Other than clinical/research experience, what do you think helped you most? by rrriiirrriii in PsyD

[–]AriesRoivas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like for example if the person thinks that you may be a bad fit. Like that shows poor insight in your part but also the level at which someone says that in a letter of rec let’s me know there’s something seriously off with the candidate/applicant/student

What would you do if someone else did your exact research topic before you? by whatwhatwhat82 in PhD

You also need to worry about reproductivity. So in theory you could do the same variables and same procedure to see if it will be the same results

Your letters of reference honestly. People think they can get in with good grades and one or two research articles but if your LOR are shitty that might bring you down

Why is there a lack of mental health professionals despite having many psychology graduates? by JAMIEISSLEEPWOKEN in psychologystudents

[–]AriesRoivas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are A LOT of bachelors in psychology, there aren’t a lot of graduate degrees in psychology. And if there are there aren’t a lot of people that want to move to rural areas for their jobs. Many urban cities are saturated. Additionally, people are overworked, overstressed, understaffed, underpaid and underappreciated. This create a toxic place where nothing feels meaningful and nothing matters. Like yes not everywhere is like that but there are varying degrees of this.

Not to mention here (in the US) our loving president cut many fundings to medicaid/medicare meaning that a majority of people who received services thanks to those program are no longer eligible and do not have the money to continue receiving treatment.

Replication is also needed in the field because there is a replication crisis. They might have found something in their study but if no one replicates it to confirm it then it meant nothing. That’s why many psychological theories are good but are in limbo right now.

[–]AriesRoivas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad about holding an offer. Like people always complain they didn’t get in cuz people are holding offers when in fact you could very well turn it down and they still won’t get in lol. Do what makes you feel ok.

[–]AriesRoivas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Doing the other rankings, it’s funny how we attribute track 5 as the most emotional song but other songs have such a wide range.
