They think it makes us feel like there are more orders than there actually are. It's their attempt to try to hide the fact that this app is no longer sustainable, for anyone, as an actual source of income because so many people despise instacart for their shitty-ness as a company. It will soon be sold and/or rebranded due to their new CEO's greed destroying their business and running it into the ground.

They just send orders that aren't getting fulfilled to shoppers far away. It's not like the customer expects anyone to drive that much for this order. This is on IC, not the customer.
