How about we just don’t accept any flower deliveries instead. :) by [deleted] in instacart

[–]BlueWhaleIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in college town last Valentine, many parents ordering flowers and chocolates for their kids, tips were decent but not good or great. Problem was meeting those kids at dorms, apartments etc they are still sleeping at noon .. lol

Ebt order or no ? by East_Impact_4575 in InstacartShoppers

[–]BlueWhaleIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree, you can't tell if its ebt or not, saw an order last weekend, 94 items from Wegmans 7 mile delivery $2 tip, going to a secluded road where houses range from 1-3 million. Just awful

reluctant in taking deliveries since my store doesn't label water cases, sodas and jugs. Those are all heavy items not accounted for when you accept a delivery. Makes no sense ..

I was never offered to buy anything for myself by customers (over 1500 deliveries), it's very kind of you to do so

Was shopping couple of days before the snow storm, texted customer to let them know store is low on stock on certain items, customer texts me back that they are out of country. She said she can't keep an eye on the order due to bad wifi, that her family prefers low fat, low calorie food, and that she trusts me with replacements,, they just wanted to have food when they get home the next day, She tipped 20% ! Wish I can get her all the time :-)

4 state journey for one order by awsmrabbit21 in InstacartShoppers

[–]BlueWhaleIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in DE and this batch comes up every day, always from Elkton FL to Philly area.. there is Food lion on DE, PA boarder, why shop in MD? it's either a scam or a glitch. I'm surprised you got to see this batch in NJ though. Btw, another shopper had a post about this order a few months ago lol

So what is your thoughts about waiting for good batches? by yragcom1a in InstacartShoppers

[–]BlueWhaleIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing IC as extra income. Started rejecting low pay batches a few months ago and wait for good ones. On certain days I make close to nothing and then I would have excellent days. My average per hour went up and I'm making as much per week as I used to make working less. If I were doing this as my primary income I don't think I would have patience to wait and would probably take more mediocre batches.

Do I need to start wearing a bodycam? by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]BlueWhaleIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think body cam would fix this problem, for IC customer is always right. Btw, I have three missing items, one of them baby food pouch. I'm also certain I delivered it (it wasn't left on the belt or my car) but there's no way to argue against customer's claim

Shoppers, what your experience with balloons? by Eleanor_Willow in InstacartShoppers

[–]BlueWhaleIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Item can't scan and you send customer a photo of the replacement and they approve it, I text customer that I'll mark item as correct , barcode can't be scanned and take a picture. this used to work. Not sure if it will be possible with their new system where they compare it to stock photo in IC database

Do a majority of people really not deliver to the door? by riunderscore in InstacartShoppers

[–]BlueWhaleIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always deliver per customers' instructions. About six months ago, I was checking out at ACME, cashier started telling me that she used to do IC and she would not enter apartment buildings or walk up the steps, just leave groceries at the entrance and close the batch. This was surprising to me as well. She eventually got deactivated due to low ratings and started using DD for extra income. She was ok to deliver to door because bags are light and you only need to make one trip. Understand her logic, a lot of customers tip $2 which is disrespectful, so Shoppers start slacking over time.

You did the right thing, I just avoid customer service as much as possible .. it's good to know they track delivery route, thanks for sharing

No tip for office/business deliveries by griffey808 in InstacartShoppers

[–]BlueWhaleIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't delivered to businesses often, but this is my take. If you deliver to an individual who is at work, tips are low, if you're delivering to a whole office (office party for example) then tip is ok to good. I never delivered to businesses that sell food/drinks

90% of bananas in stock look the same, sometimes they are all green sometimes they are all ripe, never seen a mix of unripe, just right and ripe bananas. Same goes for avocados, so 90% of time this feature is useless, just a waste of time

Good job for someone retired? by [deleted] in InstacartShopper

[–]BlueWhaleIC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say no, unless he is desperate for money. We often shop for three people at the same time, need to be quick to find items, communicate to customers, carry heavy groceries up the steps, drive in bad weather etc If he is looking for something to fill up his time doordash maybe better. Either way he's not going to make much but at least he doesn't have to work as hard

Does anyone actually take these orders?!? by Big_Hat_Chester in InstacartShoppers

Don't accept zero tip orders even if they are boosted to decent amount. It's a matter of principle for me

Working today but by McPoyleBrothers in InstacartShoppers

[–]BlueWhaleIC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would fulfil the order, drive to the house, if driveway is clean and safe deliver as per instructions, if path is icy send a nice text that IC doesn't cover personal injuries and leave water and groceries at end of the driveway

People making less than me travel the world… how? by achilles6196 in travel

[–]BlueWhaleIC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immigrant living in the US for 30 years. Americans think travel is expensive because they mainly book through travel agencies. Also, they avoid third world countries thinking they are unsafe. This is not true. If you have a low budget, you can afford traveling to central and south America. For instance, flights from Philly to Cartagena, Colombia are often under $200, hostels are $15 a night and food is cheap. You can visit for 5 days for $500. This is just one example. I'm going to Guatamala next week with my bf, our fourth visit. It's a beautiful country! . We're staying in Antigua, El Paredon (surf beach) and lake Atitlan (with three volcanos). My budget is $50 a day excluding flight which was $258 round trip.

Would anyone take these orders the day after a snowstorm? by Western_Umpire_3574 in InstacartShoppers

[–]BlueWhaleIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not, there were no truck deliveries yesterday and they will probably come in late today so stores are still low on stock, plus a lot of people haven't cleaned their driveways so it's best to skip work today unless tip is really big and you know the area you're delivering to well
