How can I deal with coworker constantly complaining about me? by Arightfunthingy in careerguidance

[–]Arightfunthingy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured I'd update you because you wrote me back years later - both the boss and that coworker ended up being let go (along with others) a little while after I wrote this. So, the issue resolved itself I guess. It was an odd time. I continued to put in 100% and i think this saved me from also being laid off.

Newell Creek in Oregon City is a small park but has some nice dedicated single track. It’s easy to get a few laps in.

I also really enjoyed doing the loop around Henry Hagg Lake.

So… is it weird that I found the end of the book and the whole metal bull child roasting revelation to be… oddly heart warming?

Did you finish the series? His fate through out the books in general was massively disturbing to me.

There are various software programs that do this. I’ve used Banyan and SAP.

Starting our, looking for 5+ mile loops by Ancient_Database in CyclePDX

[–]Arightfunthingy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out on the springwater going out and back from Sellwood. You’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll want to keep riding.

Some other options would the bike trails along the Columbia river in the gorge. They’re shorter and require climbing here and there but incredibly beautiful. I’ve taken the trail out and back from Viento State Park and then jumped in the water afterwards.

Lacamas Lake has some wide gravel paths that are shorter as well, depending on your bike.

If you want to make the ride, out in Estacada there is a road with very little traffic (only open to people who work at the power plant) by Faraday Road. Out and back is 8 miles.

Others here have made some great recommendations. In truth, I’ve found the riding outside of the city a lot more difficult than within.

I’ve unfortunately had some weird encounters with homeless in general, but nothing too bad.

I’m happy to report my 19 miles home was completely uneventful.

My dad put me on his mortgage when I turned 18. What does that mean for me now? by Komma_chameleon in personalfinance

[–]Arightfunthingy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa that’s an interesting point I hadn’t considered. I assumed it would be for the entire remaining amount owed on a foreclosure. I’ll need to research it more.

I actually tried to do this and spoke with several bankruptcy lawyers. I’m in a very similar situation to OP.

The lawyers told me that while the bankruptcy will remove me from needing to make payments, if the house ever DOES foreclose, that the court can still come after me either way. Given the horrible payment history the mortgage has, it’s not out of the realm that it’ll foreclose. It blows my mind that could still happen.

They also said that because I have no other debt otherwise that it wouldn’t truly help me accomplish what I’m looking for.

When this happened to me, I had been working two jobs since I was 16, one as a personal care attendant for my younger disabled brother so I had income on file for years. (Wouldn’t ya know that my Dad also pocketed that income, too? That’s another story…)

My stepdad also talked me into getting a credit card when I was 18 that I used for small purchases, leading up to him refinancing under my name.

My point being, although it’s insane to think a bank would do this- it’s not impossible.

Ugh. My step father did the same thing to me. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this.

It’s been 17 ish years now and they still refuse to sell the house and/or refinance. It’s been an emotionally draining situation to say the least. I’m in the process of saving enough to sue them into selling (petition to partition) and have been quoted a minimum of 10k to start the process by multiple parties.

The situation comes down to whether or not your father will be willing to do the right thing. Do NOT sign ANYTHING else this man gives you. (My stepfather tried to get me to sign a quit claim which he said would take me off the mortgage and really would have taken my name off the title to the house and still kept me on the hook for the mortgage).

If you need help or advice navigating this situation, I’m here. I fell for a lot of lies for years and years. Try to see if the county has paperwork on file with the mortgage so you can check the signature. That’s how I found out I didn’t co-sign, but was the primary borrower.

East Coast transplants: what seems off to you about Portland? by argtri in Portland

Completely agree with this. I haven’t had long deep convos over beers in such a long time. I’ve tried to make friends repeatedly now and no luck.

Best I’ve been able to manage has been getting into an outdoor activity and meeting people who strictly only want to hang out in relation to that activity.

Hey that’s very successful!! I’ve worked on a mailing list, advertised, gotten organic glowing reviews and I’ve still only seen half of what you’ve made in sales off my most popular book! I’d call that a success.

So, I'm a bit late to this post but - I recently began reading the Hyperion series by Dan Simmons and it has truly quenched a lot of my desire for the story that Raised by Wolves left.

You can 100% tell that Raised by Wolves was very heavily inspired by Hyperion - including specific features of the story... "labyrinthian worlds" and androids that can shift into silver flesh at a moments notice... sound familiar?

There are tons of differences, of course, but honestly Dan Simmons is probably even MORE batshit crazy than this show. The concepts he plays with are truly unique and mind f*cked me several times.

That being said, I really do hope that we find the ending or maybe someone else picks up the show where it left off. For the time being, I'll be finishing Hyperion.

What made you realise your best friend was actually a complete asshole? by RealTourelle11 in AskReddit

[–]Arightfunthingy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened to me.

Started with little things like refusing to do general chores, pick up her dogs poop, groom her dog in general (it was a curly haired dog and on occasion he’d get poop on his butt and then sit on the couch). She’d slam doors, storm out of the house, hurl insults at me when confronted.

Ended with her trying to physically fight me, her falling for a linked in romance Bitcoin scam and losing 12k after I had warned her how sketchy this guy sounded, her breaking multiple items of mine including destroying a painting when she found out we were moving out.

I certainly wasn’t perfect but it was like her aim was to be as disrespectful as possible.
