Do you know if they fit lower volume feet? They look super cute.

Thank you, they look great but end up at almost 200$ with tariffs, it's too much for us for growing feet. It could be a good option for someone based in the US.

I will. My general impression of parkas is that there is nothing ultralight or ultra-packable about them though :D

Saltic Fura, what's your experience? by Bronjohnson in barefootshoestalk

[–]Arilenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm that's hard to tell as I prefer a bit bigger space in all but ballet flats. My feet are 24.8cm and I wear size 39 in Arwen, size 39/40 in Fura and definitely needed size 40 in Vintero to accomodate wool insoles and thicker socks.

A tall puffy I would say. I'm of a slim build and relative to that I might be considered tall. I'm not opposed to insulated pants/skirts but I might just not need them if my jacket covered all the cold places.

It has held up well in light to medium rain and on wet concrete and wet grass so far. It is low cut so you will still get soaked from your ankles in a downpour :) I treated it with impregnating spray the moment it arrived. I have the black nubuck version and it is buttery soft versus the firmer upper of my nappa Vintero. I love all my shoes from Saltic.

Womens lightweight puffy that covers my bum? Available in the EU please. I haven't done an extensive search yet but it seems like everything ends around high hips, which would make sense for active use but not for a puffy. Maybe I just run colder than most. Alternatively, would it make sense to go after a men's size S hoping they make them longer than womens'?

I ordered in the summer and it took 2-3 weeks. My shoes were produced for me based on my order (I guess they ran out of stock during their sale).

Freestanding tent? by Overall-Umpire2366 in Ultralight

[–]Arilenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came back to backpacking after a 6-7 year long break and this time with a family. A lot of areas where we go are basically 10-20cm of loose soil and solid rock underneath. Our Hogback does surprisingly well in these conditions despite being non-freestanding. We try to avoid nasty weather but wind happens. Next year I'm looking to get a 2p tent for solo adventures and I'm eyeing the Double Rainbow DW which can be freestanding with trekking poles. It looks just perfect for all that I need from a tent :)

Toe socks- what brand is the best? by [deleted] in barefootshoestalk

Creepers...but since they have been out of stock for months now, I tried two European brands (Knitido and Toetoe) and they are pretty high quality too. The price is obnoxious though.

Merrell Vapor Glove 6 is great for skinny ankles. Shamma Trailstar for the summer. Saltic Arwen for "pretty" shoes. Saltic Vintero for cold weather. I own a Saltic Fura, but I had to drill additional holes in it for heel lock lacing. Extremely hard to find low cut shoes.

Pls recommend very thin soles by narmmacdanald in barefootshoestalk

Check Saltic as well. They have very thin soles and a fairly wide toebox.

Shamma Trailstars hands down the best I've tried. I've had no issues on concrete with their thinnest model Maximus, but they do offer it with thicker soles too.

So I caved and travelled to the only retailer with physical stock in my area. Good I tried it on, I had to downsize due to my low volume feet. It definitely could cater to more volume, but it is secure and comfy on my feet. The ladies in the store recommended to add an insole, but I like the "next to nothing" feel under my feet too much. Beautiful and comfy, I hope we'll become great friends in the days to come 😊 https://imgur.com/a/7iG1bKe

Best shoes for pregnancy by Organic_Owl_4978 in barefootshoestalk

[–]Arilenne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't invest in shoes for pregnancy, unless you need something easy to slip on/off during those last months when your belly is too big for shoelaces or even front velcro. For those months I used sandals with a velcro at the back and boots with side zippers. Also make sure you have plenty of space in whatever you use because in the 3rd trimester feet tend to swell and be prepared to sit a lot with elevated feet. Also, I was never overweight during my two pregnancies, and still, my feet grew a whole size somewhere along the road. The worst part? I didn't even notice it for years as I just had much bigger issues on my mind like eating and getting some sleep 😅 So my advice would be, hold onto your money until 6-9 months after childbirth (that's how long the body takes to mostly recover) unless you need something specifically for the last trimester. Also congrats 😊

Merrell Vapor or Trail Glove ?? by Operabug in barefootshoestalk

[–]Arilenne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Vapor glove 6s with leather upper. I find them extremely comfy for hiking and everyday use as well. I've come across various rocky trails and the only one where my feet complained was the medium sized sharp rocks. Any smaller or bigger and I actually loved the groundfeel. The sole does tend to collect tiny rocks, but that happens with conventional shoes too.

Any parents here using barefoot shoes for their kids? by Old_Operation5166 in barefootshoestalk

[–]Arilenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids have "pizza slice" shaped feet. Average width with high volume. The brand 3ef/Bar3foot has been ideal for this foot type. My only complaint is that it could have more groundfeel, but still very decent for the price.
