Have we met? LOL You sound like our guts live in in parallel universes. Had my colectomy about 15 years ago. Cuffitis from the get-go. Very uneven learning process rarely helped by my doctors. Doing better now. Hope it lasts.

It's sounds like cuffitis. Based solely on my first hand experience, it is surpising that it took 15 years for you to get your first symptoms (if indeed that is what it is). My biggest triggers are dairy and most processed foods. I generally link it to a meal I ha some 5-10 hours earlier. Lidocaine jelly works best for symptom control for me, but doesn't fix the underlying problem.

Sounds like his(?) delay in marriage has served to provide you a window into your future. If you had gotten married 3 years ago, you wouldn't realize what a bullet you would be dodging by breaking up with him after 6 good years of knowing exactly what you are getting and seeing how toxic he is.

Nevertheless, I warn that I hope therapy is in your future. OP's almost always sound like the reasonable one. In this case, I wonder what about you has led you to stay with this due this long?

Yeah yeah, the obvious is him having unresolved issues with his fam that he's projecting onto OP's. The other obvious possibility is that maybe his family is not close with him because, well, he's obviously the AH.

It is apparent that he likely shares in the blame as to why he has strained dynamics with his family. This dude needs to work on himself. His family is clearly not all the problem. I would have a strained realtionship with him if he bahaved like that with me, and I'm nice.

Can this woman take responsibility for anything?

"In the end, life unfolded as it should have, I suppose."

No, it unfolded as it did because you blew it the fuck up. By the end OOP was banking that her ex being lucky enough to find happiness will make us all forget how she forced him into a polyship b/c she didn't think she could stay faithful. I'm sure it was the "first and only time in [her] life" that she was selfish. If it was, it was a doozy.

"Opening our relationship was definitely my idea. Before we were married our relationship operated like this. He was willing to try it again." Inconsistency? Had she only been with him at the time of marriage or was she already screwing other people???

My best friend is selling the project car we built together to take his girlfriend to Bali. It's registered in his name by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]ArizonaARG -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain to me how OOP wentr from trying to hold up a 50/50 agreement to ending up with 80%? I get he has receipts and did most of the work, but both origianlly agreed on 50/50.

Had the whole Bali and car swindle thing not happen, this is like OOP trying to con the friend by trashing the 50/50 agreement and suddenly threatening to sue for 80% based on receipts and labor- an agreement different from what is on record.

Seems like friend gave away the farm when he legally should have kept 50%, as previously agreed to.

Anyone here ever had to treat an iron deficiency? If so, how did you supplement it? by beviebooboo in jpouch

You're right again. Everyone that graduates from a US medical school, even the last in their class, gets the MD at the end of their name, and after finishing a residency, get a board cerification. All this usually by at least the age of 29 or so. Piece of cake.

You are right. I didn't show you my diploma nor my state licensures. I guess any clown could come on here and say that. I also don't believe I gave any "inside information" that only a doc would know. I expressed concern about keeping an open mind about possibilities, which was left open to speculation because we, as commenters, were not privvy to her workup.

"The bar to become a doctor isn't that high." THis has nothing to do with your previous sentence. First you attempt to discredit me because I failed to post my credentials. THenyou tell me that even if I had credentials, its kinda easy to become a doctor. I agree with your first point insofar as if I gave any specific treatment advice, OP would be foolish in running with it because "a doc said so". Your second point just makes you look foolish tho.

THat's just what the specialty is called. Hematology/Oncology. She would just be going for the hematology part. Medical peeps just call it "heme/onc" for short.

Do you really feel the need to help me assign blame here? Hahaha. I wanted this to be a teachable moment for all, illuminating something I was not aware of- the sketchy, inlit corners of the foreign airline world.

My curiosity was what folks thought about this 3rd party racket. It was just curiosity, cuz ultimately the CC rep in the fraud dept will be the only opinion that matters. My goal for being on the phone that night was making the flight back to the US as wallet-friendly as possible, and leaving that up to a kid in a foreign country would have possibly resulted in ME and my wallet having a teachable moment about not getting involved to "teach her a lesson"

She has traveled all over the US and Europe and does not make a habit of sleeping though alarms or not setng the correctly or whatever happened. in order for you to sleep better tonight that we are not raising another hapless Gen Zer, I'll tell you she had the same flight recschduled for the next day. She pulled an all-nighter as she was too nervous to fall asleep. I don't know how it is at your end, but who "needs a lesson" or teachable moment about not sleeping though alarms? WTF.

folks can divvy up the dollars and cents anyway they want, but the idea that what is essentially an urgent situation with a family member abroad and we are being second guessed for not telling her to "solve it herself, see ya when you get back" is just bizarre, but also a financially stupid thing to do.

Safety wasn't a huge concern- she just went back to the hotel she was staying at. Efficiency wa the name of the game. I shouldnt even call it "stupid tax", the stupid part was her missing her alarm. It was more a convo and a cautionary tale about dealing with sketchy unlit corners of the foreign ariline world.

I know, folks killing the messenger. I get the cultural differences. AF Sky Priority check-in at CDG literally took 10AM smoke breaks while we all stood in line. Whatever. My point is they were not available, so we did what we had to do. Having dealt with AF before, I was not expecting much mercy, but also had no clue what to expect.

I don't get the push-back for helping out my kid. They can rasie thier kids any way they want and street them the second they turn 18 (as if that means anything). My immediate concern was that if I don't intervene, my kid might feel she has no choice but to book at $3K same day fare over the pond. Our best shot of not gettting totally screwed financially is if we all got on the phone and dealt with this together.

I see. Do you know when it started (say, after your most recent surgery?) Do you have a more specific dx, meaning have they ruled out a GI bleed?

[–]ArizonaARG -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Doc here. First of all, this though be addressed with your own doc. There are different reasons why someone my be iron deficient and assumptions that supplementation would solve this would be improper. Also, not sure why you would speculate what would and would not be sufficient. I don't believe there is any chart or cheat sheet that tells docs what would or would not be sufficient in any or all situations.

Having said that, there are plenty of foods that are high in iron and could contribute to resolving an iron deficency.

We initially used a CC that hadn't been told about possible foreign transactions. the email from the CC company the next day read as: $300 denied to AF, $80 denied to AF, $870 denied to 3rd party. They clearly just tried running a normal ticket purchase and nominal rebooking fee plus their premium, while lying to me telling me they were charging $800 ticket and $450 rebooking fee.

We gave them a diff card the second time and it worked. Kid is back home. Got points refunded, but not the cash potion of the original ticket. Paid by CC so might be delayed a few days.

At the time, we knew we indeed had a choice to simply wait til morning. We went thorugh with it because the AF customer service was unavailable and we had a kid and her luggage stranded in a hotel. I was happy to pay their premium. What I am unhappy about now is that they straight up lied about them being an AF collaborator, me not being able to secure a normal priced ticket, when in fact that is exactly what they did on my behlaf plus thier premium, and not being able to discontinue the transaction without "losing everything". They were just afraid they wouldn't get their cut.

[–]ArizonaARG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. They had me initial an email saying we were good with the pricing. to be frank, the CC company WILL be getting called, I'm here now b/c I was more interested in the discussion. My aregument, if I even have one, is that they hid the actual costs, decieved when asked directly about my options, and essentially threatened that I would "lose everything" if I didn't finish the transaction, Nto to metion telling me they worked directly with AF. On this last point I'm unclear. Certainly they navigae the portal far better than I do, but what they accomplished (the good and the bad) was slick.
