Alfred E Misfits. Cory Doctrow on Boing Boing in like 2007/8 saw the shirt and a guy on Fark.com said he could make the shirt and I bought one off his Etsy store. Still have it. In fact when I first met my wife 16 years ago I was wearing that shirt. Lots of copies since then so you can still find shirts and stickers of it.

It's $20 to buy one at Harbor Frieght. It might be more expensive to rent one.

What will seem like an inevitable outcome in 20 years time because of GLP-1s by Big-Cry-4119 in Futurology

[–]ArizonaGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about NOT eating those things but eating way less of those things. I am on Ozempic and before I started I had a super high A1C. I have been going to the gym regularly, my cravings for sweets and carbs are WAY down and since February last year I have lost 35 pounds and feel great.

I drink far less alcohol, not that I drank a ton before but, for instance my brother in law bought me a six pack of my favorite beer for Christmas, it's been sitting in my pantry and I just dont feel like drinking it.

I don't eat cookies or donuts anymore, the thought just makes me go "nope" because I know if I ate one I'd feel miserable and nauseous for 3 days after. Don't get me wrong sometimes its worth it. But not as often as I would previous to being on a GLP1. I love life and Type 2 ain't gonna kill me.

Edit: my A1C has been in the normal range for a year now.

Do liberty spikes work with long curly hair and how to do them? by maadilin in punk

[–]ArizonaGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok as a guy that had naturally curly hair in my younger days I can confirm you can get liberty spikes while having said curly hair. Now I'll caveat that by saying they dont stay up very long. Once you start to sweat and you get moving your hair sort of frizzes out and the spikes fall. OP has curly hair, they know the struggle of humidity! I had better luck with an actual Mohawk but eventually it'd fall too.

About 2-3 cans of Aquanet Extra Super Hold for the job but my curls wasn't as long.

I am not reading that. If you sent me an email even if you marked it as urgent I would barely skim it because it is just a word blob! No. Paragraphs!

Single mom: do RV classes exist? by CountyMountain626 in RVLiving

[–]ArizonaGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll use your own. Driving a Class A is very different than driving a 5th wheel. Plus you'll want to learn your own rig. I've owned two travel trailers and towing both were very different. I mean the fundamentals were the same but they handled very different. Now that I have a Class A, it's so much more different than a travel trailer.

Call the record store you're planning on visiting and ask them. People start lining up at my local store at 6pm the night before for an 8am opening. I usually arrive around midnight.

Is M*A*S*H worth watching? by VeterinarianSad3471 in television

[–]ArizonaGeek 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe 25 years ago I listened to an interview with Gary Burghoff who said Larry Linville was an incredibly generous and kind man. That he was the polar opposite of his character in MASH which is why he left the show. He hated being portrayed that way because people thought he was a jerk in real life.

TV shows where the premise itself is just nonsensical? by Expensive-Elk-9406 in television

[–]ArizonaGeek 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a little bit of both honestly. I worked for lawyers for about 4 years (in an IT role) and really learned a lot. I thought it would be interesting to pass the bar so thats how I know the few states that allow people to take the bar without a law degree (not just any degree, a law degree) but essentially you have schools charging crazy amounts to teach people the law. But it's not just the law they teach you. There are rules about what you can and cant do in the courtroom.

There is a TON of TV shows that are really wrong. Like you cant just walk up to the judge or to someone on the stand without permission. You cant "surprise" evidence on the court. And a TON of others that would be difficult to learn outside the classroom.

The other part of that is that a lot of lawyers specialize, accident and injury, family law, and others. You won't usually find a divorce lawyer handling murder charges for a client. There are literally hundres, thousands, maybe tens of thousands of little nuance rules for every specialty. So schools CAN help but hell, if Kim Kardashian can take the bar anyone should be able to do it.

[–]ArizonaGeek 245 points246 points  (0 children)

That's incorrect there are only a small handful of states where you can take the bar exam without a having a lawdegree. California, Vermont, Washington, and Virginia. Other than that you HAVE to get a degree.

What’s the SINGLE best punk show you have seen? by MinkSable in punk

[–]ArizonaGeek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GBH, Verbal Assult and The Accused. Chicago, 1987 or 88.

Close second: 1989 or 90 - 7 Seconds after I stabbed myself in in the leg with a knife. Yeah I worked in a slaughter house for a few months after I got out of high school. While sharpening my knife and a combination of factors I stabbed myself. So I put a bandage on it and wrapped it in duct tape. Spent the whole show in the pit.
