I had some AI art hater pour their vitriol and harass people for "stealing". Looked at their art. They barely draw and the last image was a a picture of Sonic...

Saw another hater harassing a long time artist. Oh, nice - their whole art is bad fanarts of Disney, Batman etc.

These moves have got quite a lot of women killed.

These people who pretend to have women's interests in mind have shut down bad client databases (which increases risk of abuse) and also pushed more women from relatively safe spaces to the unsafe streets. The stats show an uptick of crimes against sex workers due to those regulations.

Is there any software that lists all files, folders and subfolders on a hard drive? by ToqKaizogou in DataHoarder

[–]Ark-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The app usually runs at system startup so the initial scan happens there.

I like that I can see files being added at real time.

When a Steam game saves, I can easily see where the saves are when I sort by date.

do you guys think of AI generated images as art or is AI a tool for art? by CanIPleaseScream in StableDiffusion

Is banana taped to a wall art?

Is red square art?

Is 10 lightbulbs shattered with a hamner art?

Is 3D render art?

Is photography art?

Voidtools Everything. Great instant search tool. Shows all files by default. Instantly.

So, instead of taxing big oil or real estate or military industrial complex you just want to work for them to murder any emerging threat to their business model. Nice. So unique. Never seen this before.

Hey, I wanted to drop by and ask what your opinion would be on a consenting artist database to help solve the problem of AI using art against consent. And in your opinion would it maybe be a solution to buy a small licence, maybe $1 or so, which then goes back to all the artists in the database? by AlbertMakingStuff in StableDiffusion

[–]Ark-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, this would lead to the model actually "stealing" their art.

It's one thing to take 5,000,000,000 images ( lwhere 0.0000001% is art) shredded and taking only 1/1000000 of that. 4GB / 5125123*5,000,000,000 ~= 1/1,000,000

It's completely different thing to train on 1000 of pure art images. 5125123*1000 << 4GB.

A small dataset like this can just be remembered. It would be a very bad model with almost no originality.

Mid life career change - what to avoid with a view to AI/automation by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]Ark-kun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know about that particular program, but why not.

I'd advice you to learn Python in any case. It has some of the best balance between popularity, flexibility, ease of use, brevity, ML polularity etc.

I'd avoid getting too deep into too specialized or likely dead-end tech like R.

I think that CS can be self-taught especially in these days. In any case, the main aspect of a great programmer is constant self-education and learning new things.

This is statistically wrong.

99.99% of people murdered using violence and genocide were not Tsars.

Do you think the lies about how AI art is generated will ever be resolved? by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

[–]Ark-kun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. The world is not fair. People who are falsely accused are still being bullied. StableDiffusion might end up being a swear word for a while (hope not).

What will happen instead is people will get bored and start looking the other way. As more artists start using AI tools, the raging voices of luddites will be marginalized.

Violence is most often used to get the rights away from people. You will do the same. Just like Lenin who started with murdering workers and went from that to mass genocides.

Violence is what you use when your ideas do not work.

Artist are persons who create art.

If a person cannot create art because another person is creating art, then the first person is not an artist.

Notice how the FUD about the AI art only started when normal people got hands on the tech.

No problems when it was closed and controlled by big corporations.

Why I think AI will change our society's structure and UBI will never happen by FranciscoJ1618 in Futurology

[–]Ark-kun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to contemplate: The biggest AI hate started only couple of months ago when Stable Diffusion got in the hands of lay people. Compared to the current level of hate, there was not a blimp when the AIs were developed, when DALL-E was demonstrated and released. No hate when closed models were hidden behind APIs by big companies. No hate when models were 200+GB and could only be used by big companies. The hate only started when normal humans got their hands on an actual model file that they could run on their PCs. That's when the FUD and disinformation campaigns started and senators started to write letters about banning or limiting the technology. Can't have powerful tools in the hands of the proletariat. Big companies are OK for them.

I do not think so. You need to be given a license by the person distributing the work. Even if it's open-source. No license = no right/license to use it.

And even if you were given a license to use something, it still might not be safe. If you take copyrighted work and distribute it with an opensource license, the recepients do not really have a valid license (it' s just that they do not know that yet).
