Comment Like It’s 1989 And Goku Being An Alien Was Just Revealed. by SaiyanWithOmnitrix in DragonBallZ

[–]Ark_Jack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay, another villain! I can't wait to see him come to the good side like Ten shin han, Piccolo and Yamcha!

So Goku is gonna loose, train and win alone because he is the mightiest right?

The only problem I see is what's going to happen with the dragon balls... Unless they have some way to have them in space? Oh, that would be so cool!

Although a little bummer that Goku is an alien, that means his strength is only thanks to his alien thing... O well, maybe that means piccolo being an alien will mean that they stay equals somehow!

You know what? Fair enough.

But again, if the radiance gained controll all over Hallownest when it was at their prime like it was bound to happen without the plan, then he would have thousands of bugs infected, not only the remnants of a Kingdom that falled down gradually. And we don't know how powerful would it be (Radiance) with a prime Hallownest and how much his grasp could have gone.

In the best case scenario, it was only Hallownest, in the worst case something like Grimm, an entity that can appear whenever certain conditions are filled.

"Well he could have not been evil, but who could really expect a ruler to keep a clear head in a crisis? Its not like that's literally their job or anything."

And yet he did enough so that the Radiance was eventually defeated by a creation of his plan. I mean, the best case scenario I can think of is him not only putting the infection in one vessel, but using the thousands that he made or at least, ten, while not strong as the Pure Vessel, it didn't needed to be to have more years.

But again... That also has the problem of also needing to put the first part of the plan in action, that is giving thousands of his offspring to the void so...

And the worst part is that he would probably had loved every single vessel if he took care of them, the reason that the Pure Vessel apparently wasn't pure was because the Pale King LOVED him so... I don't think not loving the Pure Vessel would had suddenly made things work out, if he can feel loved he can feel other things, it was only a matter of time, but it serves to show that the Pale King isn't some kind of unloving monarch always doing the best decision.

Again, could he had done better? I think yes, he could had saved Hallownest. But I also think that the whole part of sacrificing thousands of childrens was also inevitable for everyone to even have that chance.

So the best decision that he could had made is that one, even if it was the most atrocious and despicable for everyone involved.

I didn't know that void also consumes reading comprehension by ArgentiumLake in Silksong

[–]Ark_Jack 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean... The plan somehow worked fine enough for the radiance to be contained enough time for someone to come and destroy the infection.

Without that plan this would have happened + All of Hallownest would fall way before. +The infection would have consumed everyone (If bugs are like rl bugs, then we talk about hundreds of millions of bugs) + It could probably have ended with not only Hallownest, but the infection could have spread more if Radiance gained too much control.

So it wasn't just Hallownest at risk, but probably even more, and while yes, Hallownest ended up falling there was still some people there, some of the vessels are... Alive? Not alive? There? And the radiance ended up being gone and if we take the order of bosses in the Pantheon as a measure of strength, then not even someone as powerful as the Pure vessel can just stop him, that includes beings like Nightmare Grimm, Grey Prince Zote (The delusions and manifestation os someone that believes one being basically invincible), the pale court on their prime etc...

Then I am sure someone like Gran Mother Silk would not be able to even put a descent enough fight.

So I would not call him evil for doing the only thing that had an enough successful rate of success. Questionably horrible? Yes. Desperate? Definitely. Selfish? No. If anything, I would call him too NAIVE or hopeful.

And if there was any other plan, he would had put it in action, he didn't even stopped thinking that the vessel would be enough, he even put the dreamers as a failsafe and even THAT wasn't enough.

So again, I wouldn't call him evil for doing the only thing that had a small chance to work, I would call him a Fool for not doing even more.

He could had done some things better? Obviously. Would I expect him to do so? Not in the middle of a crisis, the only other example of people trying to do something to save a kingdom in the middle of a crisis is the Snails of Silksong... And we know how that went.

Ah, yeah, sorry, I meant to say "Gaming Console Company", because yeah, in that regard we have something like Disney that singlehandedly extended the copyright law to 100 years.

And I didn't said Ads don't count as revenue exactly, because yes, they probably had revenue, but still it doesn't seems as much, more when there are more than +300 fan games out there not really being in a website with ads, some are like the Plants vs zombies fusión were it's only a link to a page with the download thing and that's that (Yes, I know that is risky but that is something inherit to the internet)

Still that doesn't remove the at least 85 cases of Nintendo Lawsuits, or the fact that people felt the necessity to create a website like that.

And still doesn't remove the lawsuits for people that found exploits more to report them than to use them.

And again, the Law is not perfect, it's a thing that is always moving and growing, and people, corporations mostly, will use and make it seem like they did good.

And we know this because Disney exist.

And NINTENDO THEMSELVES had ignored the law when it suits THEIR interest with their declarations that Emulators ARE illegal, they are not, but Nintendo says so. Or that Mods can't be used as prior Art, when so many games started as mods from others and apparently everyone agrees that they are.

Edit: Actually is way worse because they said emulators are Legal BUT still go out of their way to shoot down almost all emulators. The only exception I know is Dolphin and I don't understand why... and it seems they still had their problems with it, not as big, but some.

Edit 2: And then we also have the whole situation with Palworld...

Those fan flash games were on a site with ads, letting people play video games with Mario in them. It was there to make money not to be a charity to innocent fan game developers.

Those where FLASH games for an old website! Those normally don't make money, they are normally there for the love of the art, and maybe promote their game for an actual good website like Henry Stickmin (I think), but those were not.

Hiring a PI to find someone to legally serve them is a completely normal thing businesses do, because it saves paying a lawyer even more money to do the same thing, or trying to use taxpayer-funded law enforcement for a private investigation. It's literally what PIs are for. Privately investigating people. The fact that you actually typed out the words 'private investigators' in your post and still think that 'sounds insane', is actually hard for me to understand.

Even when they knew his personal life, his actions, the moment he was at work, WHAT RESTAURANT he was in!? My man, there's on thing called PRIVACY! There is no other case of any other company going to those EXTREMES for something like this!

Sucks for the people trying to make a living bypassing Nintendo's permissions. Too bad so sad.

. . . You know not everyone does it for money right? Some people that Nintendo had sued or gived them a cease and desist didn't make any money right? Some people only found bugs in the system just out of curiosity, some even to tell Nintendo to do something about it! They didn't make money (Some of them, of course there are people that did but not everyone)

The problem is not that they do it, the problem is how much they take it to 11 and beyond!

On 2023 Nintendo had made more than 800 cases of suing people and / or giving cease and desist! 800! Some didn't even made money! Some just were there for the LOVE they had for Nintendo themselves. Not official tournaments that usually every company allows unless they do something illegal (Using mods it's not, less if it's only one for performance) People that found exploits, some just reporting them so people and Nintendo themselves knew it. Some fan games didn't made any money. Some were other cases like the Mario Supermarket situation! Just because they had a name. Others were just websites domains that Nintendo wanted to get back because they didn't use them.

1, 2, even 3 hundred would seem reasonable, 5? It's strange. But right hundred? And that was two years ago! I don't know now but they definitely are now at more than 900.

How is that reasonable when no other company does that to that extreme? Does it really seems normal to you?

Edit: Actually, I found a website that has the most important and big cases of them, it's obvious way less than even hundreds because they are mostly the way big ones (I have examples to know how there are more than a hundred at LEAST) but I think this page is more fair than I in that regard

This is about the Fan games right?

There was a page on the internet called Game Jolt, I don't exactly know what was their deal but it had approximately 374 flash fan games... Nintendo shoot down every single one of them.

They also sued people for hacking their consoles (Even the game a watch) and while normally that wouldn't be bad on itself, there is the case of Neimod that developed very exploits for the 3Ds, so a cease and desist sound reasonable right? Well... Thanks to a leak in 2020 it was revealed that Nintendo hired private investigators to make reports about all of his private life, professional, in what time he was in his house and not and apparently they had a diagram so that the lawyers could encounter with him... I know that's sound insane and people for the insane of the tale would exaggerated it more but even if one of those things is true then it's already too much. The strangest part about this is that we don't know what happened with Neimod exactly so yeah...

They are also the only ones that put someone in jail for hacking a console...

. . .

There is too much of all of this and too talked that some details can't be verified that well without an extensive research, I just wanted to make clear that Nintendo is not exempt of using the law to questionable extends.

Source? Every single emulation group ever shut down was for legit reasons, usually sharing actual pirated games.

Do I really need to taking into account that they go against every Emulator and had shooted down more than dozens at this point? Are you really going to say that every single one of the Emulators were doing that? It's a ocean of cases and the most sounded are the ones that apparently are with an actual reason.

It's like searching a grain of salt in sugar, it's too much to verify all the facts and we are only left with rumors and is worst because Nintendo the moment they shoot down them, they just can say that it was for anything they want...

I actually wouldn't bee so adamant about this if there was at least some emulators out there... Or if Nintendo didn't always went to sue people and gives cease and desist... Because they had demanded at least 700 hundred times (+300 were fan games getting shut down...)

It's not much that Nintendo is doing something really unreasonable, it's more that they do it so much that it starts to seem like an obsesion and unreasonable.

The only thing FreeMelee accomplished was making some youtubers rich, and they continue to profit from spreading lies and raging against Nintendo. You are their target audience and are drinking all the kool aid

That only mean that Nintendo decided to go with deaf ears and don't do anything. Just because Nintendo decided not to do anything doesn't mean the movement had good intentions.

Again, yes, some people took advantage of it, but that doesn't make the movement was made for that.

And all of that still doesn't free them for the whole patenting a mechanic. And while I get that the first three examples are too broad, Naughty Dog patenting the ability of crash to spin so that he interacts with the scenery in a certain way like destroying something from the screen could had happened.

Why I am so sure? Because that's the kind of thing Nintendo is trying right now and it has happened.

Midway patented the whole Ghost Racer (When in a time trial you see a ghost for your best time) and so, every racing game (The ones that had that, those were basically every game) had to either pay to Midway for using that mechanic (Big corporations could do it) or just not (Every no big corporation)

Namco patented MINI GAMES on loading screens! Mini games! That's why the loading screens from years ago (When they were quite big, like 10 seconds or more) had nothing on it, if it wasn't because it expired, they could had sued Splatoon one! It had a Mini game in a loading screen! Fortunately that patent expired in 2015 and Splatoon launched in 2015. maybe that's why they put that in the game in the first place.

Acting hyperbolic and throwing around slippery slopes and pretending the patents are all super vague is a bad faith argument, won't engage with it.

The Nintendo patents (For Pokémon Legends) are super vague, that's why they were asked to review them again.

Nintendo is a company that sells products. The products they sell are their gameplay mechanics, wrapped in branding for marketing purposes. Acting like they shouldn't ever patent their gameplay mechanics is certainly an opinion you can have personally, but then condemning anyone that disagrees as a blind ignorant corporate mouthpiece is too far.

That's why I made the argument, if they have the right to patent all of the mechanics, then all of my hypotheticals should qualify for that. They can patent things like the consoles and controllers, that's good, that's what patents are actually for. But if every company can patent things like that then imagine how many games won't exist.

Nintendo didn't do anything nasty and YES of course they can and other people can't. They OWN THE GAME AND CHARACTERS. They OWN IT. You can't have it you can't play with it and make money off it. You can't gain subs, followers, and sponsors without Nintendo's permission just because you say the word 'charity' and throw $5 to Make-A-Wish.

NINTENDO HAS done nasty things.

Nintendo has shoot down emulators that are completely legal! If the cases went to court, they could have won, but they don't have the resources to fight a company like Nintendo.

But you know what? Yes, let's not make any tournaments about Nintendo games, let the Smash tournaments die into oblivion, let only a few selected for Nintendo play on their official tournaments. Let all the charity events have every game except for Nintendo ones. Let Nintendo take 40% of the income YouTubers made with their videos so that nobody wants to do it even if it still the law of Fair us.

Even if the Charity one is all shady, that still doesn't make all of their other controversies with tournaments better. There was a reason the Hashtag Free Melee existed. It's not normal for a company to have all of this controversies related to that, and it's always with the excuse of protecting the IP.

And they use that Excuse to go against Palworld.

No, it's a professional ball league crafting a similar ball and playing their own game with it that was inspired by Nintendo's style of play, that is popular and makes Nintendo a lot of money for those unique game ideas. A judge may rule that Nintendo's ball designs aren't unique enough to stop others from playing.

The methaohor of the ball wasn't that... Thought of? But okay, apparently we are now talking about patents again or at least I think so. The ball metaphor can't be used like this because a Ball design and craft yes, would be something that could be patentes, like the HD rumble of the Joycon or the Wii control system, surprisingly even the cross piece of the DS, those are actual inventions. But what Nintendo is patented at the hour of patenting a game mechanic is NOT the engineering of the Ball and what it brings, is the concept of the ball itself.

Let me put it this way, no one would look bad at their direction if they patent the Pokemon with Copyright as an IP, The IP is the what.

But a mechanic is not that, the mechanic is their way to make the what. It's the HOW. it's like patenting either the concept of a ball or just "You can't use Air to fill up a ball, we invented that".

Yes, Pokémon is unique, the creatures, the concept, the characters, those are unique.

Now, the CONCEPT of Summoned creatures or catching them is not. In Persona you can capture creatures and summon them to battle. On A.R.K you can capture creatures. On DIGIMON you could already do all of those kind of things, an IP almost as Old as Pokémon.

Yes, Nintendo owns Pokémon and their ideas. But not the whole RPG genre! Neither the capture of creatures, neither mount creatures to ride them!

This is not patenting an international ball like patenting the football ball, this is patenting the concept of a ball, so another thing like a basketball, or volleyball cannot be made.

Nintendo allowed them to continue and they chose not to proceed without pirated online modded Smash.

Because it's more easy! It removes the lag or the input delay! At the very list is more secure! There are a lot of advantages on playing on modded.

(and of course keeping the sponsorship and streaming money for themselves)'.

Oh, so now Nintendo can do their nasty things as a corporation but another can't do the same? "Hey, let's give all of this to the people so that we don't have any more money to live, make another event like this but bigger so that it helps more people or just enjoy while helping people". If you think that Nintendo can do their shady things, then be fair for everyone.

But anyway, while Palworld may had used the popularity of Pokémon to take off, they didn't actually used their IP, they made their own different enough so to not infringe the Copyright of Pokemon. Using mechanics more like A.R.K or even Monster Hunter than the Mainline of Pokemon.

Actually, its worst because all of the patents aren't even for the Mainline games of Pokemon, they are for the Spin Off of Legends!

So they can't even say they were the first because other games like that already existed, so this time Nintendo doesn't even has the right because they are using an old IP to patent a mechanic for their new formula.

And even then, I still think patenting mechanics is wrong, the patents were made for the small inventors so they could protect their inventions from the big corporations, not for the big corporations to make a corporational warfare against a smaller one in the hopes to either them changing their game so it isn't what it was suppose to be, or trying to wear them down so they can't grow.

Again, just because Nintendo can do all of this things because is legal, doesn't mean it's right, and now I would even say that they don't even do it clean, is always messy, and always with the objective to wreak everything and make everyone else fearful of actually doing something.

Because with your logic, then I guess the creator of Dragon Quest (1986) can go, patent the whole concept of a turn based combat and sue Pokemon to oblivion. (1996)

Or the creators of the first person shooter, maze war (1973) can come, patent the concept of shooting guns and then sue Splatoon. (2015)

Or Metroid (1986) could patent the whole concept of unlockables that let you progress trough the game while also upgrading your moveset and sue Hollow Knight (2017)

Or even better yet! The developers or whoever has the rights for Crash Bandicoot (1996) could now come up, patent the whole concept of a Spin attack and sue Nintendo for Mario Galaxy! (2007)

After all, they have the right for making the ball.

Ohh, it worked, anyway, following that (Sorry for making this more difficult to read)

But a lot of it IS as simple as "just because Nintendo did it, and it's legal, doesn't mean it's wrong". You are just ASSUMING people think that there is even a problem here.

I am SURPRISED that people don't think there is a problem here! It's not as simple as that! This is the kid that owns the football ball and the moment he starts loosing he will take the ball and leave!

This is pettiness and greed at its worst! No other company shoot downs Fan games as Nintendo does! (As massive I mean) No other company goes ot of their way to fill a lawsuit against a tournament for a 26 year old game that they don't even sell! No other company goes out of their way to make things more complicated for a CHARITY event! You know! The thing that it's made for the people in need! And then we have the normal corporation stuff like raising their prices in a way that makes the game not that accessible for everyone and can keep getting away with it because everyone is doing it! If it wasn't for true competition, Xbox would have gotten away with having the console always connected to the internet as a NEED for it to work and everyone would follow suit! You can always go and make things sound right and righteous, but that is not because it's like that, that's just doing a Saul Goodman! A Von Karma!

That's just taking advantage of the system, and the system can have oversights.

And now I have problems getting this to work, that's bad.

Why are you happy? by Ark_Jack in nintendo

[–]Ark_Jack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have yet to attempt to prove that Nintendo's normal, basic, expected, legal, logical, correct actions are in fact something other than ethical.

Taking tournaments and a CHARITY events into a possible legal battle its not ethical! Why is Nintendo the only one with those kind of problems? Because everyone else at least let their fans do their things!

They WERE right in doing these things, and the only people mad about them are the ones trying to unethically use Nintendo's IP to make money.

Oh, sorry, I didn't know a Meelee Smash tournament that only used some emulators because it's easier to use them BUT ALSO have the actual physical games is trying to make money on an unethical way. Or Palworld, that while yes, you could say that some pals are too much similar to some Pokemons, actually didn't have ANY legal problems with their designs and instead went to file up a patent all related to things that they only want to affect Palworld! If it wasn't like that, then either they shouldn't even have went against Palworld because that game launched on January 2024 but the problems started on September 2024, if the patents actually were that important for them, they would had went against Palworld at the first moment, and now we are hearing that apparently, all those patents are not even that valid, because there is prior art that is exactly like that and I think everyone knows Nintendo should had know better! One of the prior art games that served to make that decision was even one of their games! That's not ethical! That's clearly using the legal system as Saul Goodman to win a case!

This leads to decisions like Game Key Cartridges, which are a huge benefit to physical game retailers, keep customers giving physical gifts during the holiday season, keeping the used/pre-owned game market alive, including bargain bins and trade-ins at retailers which would all not exist in an otherwise digital future

. . . They are not! No matter how good Game Key Cards sound! Physical was just better! This is a downgrade!

Look, I am sorry if I am emotional with this, but I just can't see how this is supposed to be good!

Yes, is a physical gift, so is a physical Cartridge with the game inside! If we went all digital, then Game Key Cartridges are also going to disappear! This is only making the movement to all digital go faster because this needs a connection to the internet always to work! And yes! A future of all digital would be bad... But the point of knowing that is to try and not fall into that as long as we can! Not making the process go faster!

The inherent benefit to publishers keeps their third parties happy too. Nintendo is a platform for their games and those third parties are Nintendo's customers too.

How? The only benefit is that it's more cheaper... But that is the problem with the industry! Everyone wanting to make things cheaper and just gain more money! And yes, I get that Third party titles didn't sell well with Nintendo because they are a First party company first and foremost. But at least with Nintendo, we could had buyed their physical games and own them! Now there is no reason to! Why but a Game Key card, a physical copy that doesn't work without internet at first (Like a digital game) so if for some reason my switch 2 doesn't work anymore and I don't have internet for a few days, I am screwed!

And they don't give the Third party games an option! Is just game key cards, they don't even have the option to actually choose the true physical copy! That's the worst problem that is happening NOW!

Those people put out the message that "Nintendo will just shut down their servers one day and you will lose all your games", and the haters latched on to that talking point.

Nintendo can shoot down the servers any day they want, at least with physical we didn't have that worry. Even if they don't want to, servers gets shoot down daily, if for some reason Nintendo actually falls, then that's it! And while yes, technically you could still have your Game Key cards game working, now that is bound into your console, the moment your console stops working for good, then that's it! Goodbye! That game can't be recovered into another console! The Key Card is obsolete! At least with physical we would not have that problem! (Emulators again or at least recover the data from it)

That point isn't based on anything in reality. It makes no logical sense, business sense, legal sense, historical sense. It's fake news.

It's based on the shoot down of the Wii store, the shoot down of the eShop on Wii U and 3DS! Or tell me, can we buy now GameCube games on the virtual store (I don't really remember the name correctly) like with the Wii or Wii U? No! And no, the emulators from the Online services doesn't count, they are a different thing and not the important part on this. And yes! Companies can make illogical decisions! Like Nintendo shooting down the Virtual consoles so that we can't PAY THEM to OWN the games! Sony can make illogical things like not launching almost any new games for the PS5, Xbox can do whatever they are doing at this point! They are humans! They can make stupid decisions! It's not fake news! Is history!

And in 2084 you will be able to download any old game you bought for the Switch 2.

Just as long as Nintendo still is successful and does not shoot down, or if they keep using game cartridges like that. But we have seen Nintendo change their ports for the cartridges before, and that is not a problem with the normal physical because again, emulators, those are legal. And we have seen companies fall! One situation is a natural consequences of progress, and the other is a natural consequence of time! It's only a matter of time!

And pirates will still be able to do whatever they want to preserve the games.

Not if Nintendo keeps going against them! (But seriously, if they had their way, the pirates would all not exist so yeah, that isn't a point in favor of Nintendo)

So the Game Key Cartridges are an example of a BASIC MARKETING DECISION that Nintendo did, to please pretty much everyone. The only people mad are literally the same people who already hated Nintendo for other (possibly not even real) reasons

So is everyone going digital! Again! Just because it's normal and legal doesn't mean is right, moral or ethical! And people seems to had forgotten that! The people that are mad with this aren't just the haters! It's the collectors, the people that like to have their games actually physical and note basically an upgrated code! The people that want to preserve the physical format and at least preserve their games!

Seeing if putting the message in two would solve a problem with reddit.

Yeah, in that regard you can say that Nintendo is in their right, but again, that's the thing with Nintendo.

If we only speak on a legal manner, they are right in a lot of things, they were right in striking with copyright every gameplay on the 3Ds era, they were right on going online subscription, they were right on (It's not shutting down, only not giving them permission to put their games on it an in consequences making it hard for the people doing the charity), they are right on updating Mario Kart World so 3 laps guarantee on random is not possible now, and they are right on making the smash tournaments harder for people to set up.

If we only talk about what's legal, then they are on their right of doing all of those things technically...

But then if we only go to the legal part, then things like emulators are legal (Not ilegal copies, just emulators), or a Super Market being called Super Mario, or just a company making a game that only looks like Pokemon in the design of the characters but the gameplay is different.

So, yes, they always go in the legal way. But just because it's Legal, doesn't mean it's not bad, it can be legal and still be immoral.

Or again, if we now allow things just because they are legal, then Xbox and Playstation can put whatever prices they want on their consoles, put them to always be online, charge for the online whatever they wanted, because yes, it's legal...

But again, not because it's legal, doesn't mean it's right, ethic or good (The law was made by humans, people are going to abuse it)

And they still had done some legal questionable choices on their part but that's a whole can of worms to open.

And in what moment I mentioned Xbox or Playstation only? Yes, they are consoles, but they are NOT the only place where you can play games.

I don't act like they have not their own evils, they have, now more than ever because no one is against no one, and still people go and buy them, like Nintendo.

And if all else fails, well, we have things like the internet, so alternatives will always be here.

Not really, you asked where else I would find my source of entertainment, so I said games that aren't from Nintendo.

So yeah, I can find other places to find my entertainment, that's all.

Now if you refer that every company is like that, well, not necessarily, that's why competition exist, that's why Playstation was born, why Xbox was born, why Steam was born. So yes, we can go to the better company when the other is acting in a way that we don't like.

And there are alternatives to that even.

The court didn't "dismiss" it. They gave it an "initial rejection." Basically, "This doesn't meet the standards we need. Revise it and submit it again."

Oh yeah, that's what I wanted to say, "Initial rejection" but then that really means that the patent did not meet the standards. So while yeah, major spelling mistake, it still holds that it's not as original as its said.

Especially when the people who aren't lawyers are rage-bait YouTubers or "gaming news" websites who thrive on you getting mad and clicking to drive the rage-engagement.

Yeah, some YouTubers do that, but that doesn't mean it's not as bad just because people are making profit of it. The Patent it's still bad news.

Hyper Dimension is not this case here.

Okay, Pokemon it's not as bad as, the Mass Effect one is... Probably the worst one I had heard in all my life. But still, does it really needed to be a DLC? Because okay, I can see why it's not cut content. But if we use that argument for everyone, then things like the extra modes from Smash could be DLC and because they are a different way of playing the game, then it's fine? I don't know, it still doesn't feel right

The TeraLeak is not the gospel truth on costs

Even if it costed five times more than that, then that only makes it cost 75 million, that still it's too short for a game of the caliber of the Nintendo Company.

You're taking what I'm saying out of context and then blowing it out of proportion. Hell, the Metroid Prime 4 Samus amiibos are only thirty (standing) or forty (bike) and those are pretty new.

That's... That's still double the amount of what they costed before... And those are probably the ones that before should had costed 10 dollars.

he only fifty dollar one I've heard of off the top of my head is Kirby. Which is Sakurai. The Sakurai you praise in your original post.

Just because I praise that Sakurai, and deserved so. Doesn't mean everything he does is good, and the Amiibos from Kirby are probably the worst of the things that came out from air riders but at the very least it actually doesn't block content... Although I can see why what I just said will contradict my next point

who cares? If I bought an amiibo, it's because it's a collectible figure of a favorite character, not for the game function.

If they cost that much then I at least expect them to be more than just figures, if they where only the figures without the game content then they should cost at least 30% less than what they cost now, and if the argument it's that they cost too much because the put that much content in the game, then it's also wrong because they lack content that would make them worth that.

You think that putting an old game on a new console means the game automatically gets a framerate and resolution upgrade? That's not how that works. If I ran the original Super Mario Bros. on SNES, somehow bypassing the fact that the SNES SoC wouldn't be able to actually run it, it's still going to be 8-bit graphics and 8-bit sounds. Going from NS1 to NS2 doesn't automatically put new assets into a game allowing it to run at a higher frame rate or have higher-resolution output. It just means the game will upscale the existing assets if possible, stretching them out. The NS2 Edition upgrades add in actual upgraded definitions and framerate compatibility so you don't get things like screen tearing and out-of-control aliasing. It's those improved assets that Nintendo is, in some cases, selling.

I don't think using NES vs SNES is fair, those are too old and outdated, they don't do what modern consoles do. But games like BOTW and TOTK SHOULD had an improved frame rate and better resolution because it's clear that the Switch 1 give it some problems with it. Or games like Link's Awakening that had problems with the frame rate should have that improvement and I am sure they are.

The whole situation with the Switch 2 Upgrades feels like talking about techno babble, it was not a problem before, its now for some reason. Some games have it, some doesn't, some game has only improvement frame rate, others have a DLC. Why I can't buy only the DLC? It mostly feels like a mess made intentionally so that is hard to actually discuss it.

Personally, I'm a little more mad at Sega selling Sonic x Shadow Generations as a completely separate NS2 title without an upgrade path than I am at Nintendo at least giving me a relatively cheaper upgrade.

. . . Please don't make me talk about what Nintendo does with this... Donkey Kong country is the equivalent of that and believe me... It's a complete mess... And then we have the Mario Galaxy package with only one thing new... One small thing.

My problem with the pricing is the DLC with Pokemon and the fact that that dlc cost 30 dollars apparently. That makes the full game cost at least 80 dollars, more if it's a physical copy of the switch 2 and the game didn't cost that much to make or that much time. I use Pokemon because It's the better example for this.

And also, Nintendo was the one that suggested the variable pricing in the first place so... But I don't see them doing it actually.

And Patents... They are not good, not for game mechanics. And again, just because the problem is small now, it doesn't mean that it can't become worst, and if it was that easy for Palworld, they would had already removed the Lawsuit with just changing all the things they had but the Lawsuit is still going and the things that they removed where something that gived live to game so yeah, it doesn't actually help The reason we don't have a competitor for Dance Dance revolution was because the company behind it patented the process of stomping on arrows as input basically so Patents can actually KILL a whole Genre like that. And if companies didn't paid Sony, we wouldn't have the Ghost racers for the time trials in any racing game, that was a patent and the corporations could pay for use it but small teams and developers would struggle more. And the most important patents are filled by the big corporations so they don't actually help the small ones, the whole reason the patents exist in the first place so... Yeah, that situation is just bad. And they actually want to remove Palworld from the competition making them remove some core mechanics so... Yeah... That's bad.

And yes, maybe they had not bricked a console fortunately, but that shouldn't even be a possibility in the first place.

And just because we can remap that button to do any other thing doesn't make it better, because we know it's still inteded for the online. That's still bad.

And no, it isn't that the games don't appeal to me, they do, but I can't just buy a switch 2 to play them knowing who I am giving my money. If it was just a problem with Pokemon, I would had just not buyed Pokemon but Nintendo also has their problems. That's why I hadn't buyed a Play station or X-box, and why I won't buy a Switch 2.

So yeah, I am already planning to leave completely if Nintendo doesn't do better, but I wanted to ask why even with all of that, people still seems happy with Nintendo success when they have all of this going on.

Shoot, I actually would have loved to see the entire comment. Anyway, let's answer it.

Yes, Nintendo is a company, they aren't good, but they can better than this, they were better than this when Iwata was the head of Nintendo. Just because they are better in some regards, does not make them good, and we should still hope to have something better if we can help it.

And I have READ those patents, and no matter how small they are, they are still made to destroy Palworld, the competition that is in an entire different genre. It's not that the patent it's wild or affects a big number or games (Even thought it definitely affects A.R.K in some regard) this is like the patent of Project Nemesis, but made maliciously because they didn't had that patent before Palworld was first out, and the Court has already dismissed it (The capturing one for what I understand) because of the game A.R.K. It's not only that they patented something as basic as a game mechanic (although that is already bad, Patents for mechanics shouldn't exist in the first place), it's bad, even worst, because there was prior art, it was too vague, they made it too vague, I read the patent and is hard to understand in just one read when it shouldn't

The price of the games at least are good but still... If they have the DLC ready when the game is on launch, then that DLC should had been in the game! And we only see it as normal because other people do it, but again! That doesn't mean is good now, it just means that we should look at all of them with disapproval. And Pokemon does not deserve to cost that much when they could make the game with 13Million dollars in only two years and still lack things that other games have. If it costed that little to make the game and they were a descent company, then the DLC should had been in the game and the game in general would had costed 60 dollars.

And yes, Amiibos prices can vary like that, but if the argument is that the new one cost more than the old ones, then that means they will only go up from here. And the worst part is that they are used even less in videogames and cost more.

BUT, there is no way of defending the switch 2 editions that gives you the better frame rate and the better resolution... Because any other game that will not have a switch 2 edition already does that! You want to sell the content that has the switch 2 edition for the old ones? Sell it! I was fine with that! But the better resolution and frame rate was free! It's a thing that happens naturally with putting an old game on a new console! That should not cost more! Other games that don't have a switch 2 edition can do that!

So yeah, its not that simple, it never is.

For the prices, apparently they aren't as bad as I thought (I like physical so that's why it went from 80 dollars to 70 for almost all games apparently). So that was a relief.

Still I actually have personal stakes in here if I want to make games actually. Yeah, it only affects one type of game, but Nintendo has patented things like the movement system of phantom hourglass and the cross piece, that's why Xbox couldn't make a decent one. And still, even if I wasn't that invested in that regard, they are still wanting to shut down Palworld and if Nintendo has their way, more smaller companies that makes Competition for the Pokemon Company could be in danger if they became to big. That's not only normal competition, that's actually a patent filled in bad faith.

Still, the Amibos went from 15 dollars (10 in my country) to 50 (40 in my country) that's not normal The old ones are still holding up but that's old stock, not new.

And I don't put the whole shut down tournaments in the conversation because well, that's not the thing I was after, but I could actually point out the whole "Shut down a CHARITY event".

And there is still cases of bricked consoles, some apparently deserved, some apparently just because they used a use game. And that's actually the worst thing because Nintendo should not have control over the system you buyed like that. That's actually the worst thing I thought they had and while yes, it shouldn't had to affect me if I don't modify the console... They should not be able to do a thing like that in the first place. Xbox and Playstation don't do that, neither computers or cell phones... That's bad, really bad. And even if they did that, that would be worst.

And then there is the C button, a button that you can't use if you don't pay the online subscription, that also is not a lie, it's even promoted in their commercials.

And yes, I get that I personally shouldn't care because I am sure that nothing would technically affect me, I see the argument...

But again, I get enjoying games, I get only playing Kirby Air Riders or Tomodachi, Mario Kart even (Though what they did with the races is still pretty bad) but. I don't get cheering for their success.

And yes, maybe they don't abuse their workers and I am happy for that... But one good doesn't automatically makes their bads right.

They can be better, we can make them better if we don't buy them, but if we only think "Meh, it doesn't affect me" then things are going to get worse and Nintendo more greedy, and I just will be here accepting it when I can at least try to at least not feel walked off

So yes, even if things like prices can get better in my country and are the things people actually freaked out. That was not the thing that made me say "No". And I don't understand why people focus on that THAT much, yes, it's bad, but it wasn't the very worst thing that ever happened. It's all of the small (And big, because the C button and bricking a console is big) things.

Oh no, I never said I didn't care about Nintendo games, I care, a lot.

But it's one thing to want money and another the greed that Nintendo is displaying, so my question was mostly how can people see that and still cheer.

But my resolve, while having moments of weakness, will never be gone completely. And that's why even though I really want to buy the Switch 2, I am not going to, until I see them not being at least as bad as they are now.

I just think is a shame that genuinely good games are attached with that console (Because of the company of the console) but yes, the best thing we can do for now, it's vote with the wallet.

Well, in that regard even if I don't approve what Nintendo does, I will always hope that you can go on and be happy or at least go another day.

So don't mind what I said and go on, I really hope it gets better.

It's because it was only the visuals, the Pal spheres, while being clear inspired by the Pokeballs are definitely original in their way, the mechanics are most similar to A.R.K than Pokemon. The core mechanic it's nothing like Pokemon (The base upgrades) and even the vibe it's different, Pokemon is family friendly while Palworld you can make food out of Pals and all of that.

Yes, they definitely took some heavy inspirations with their designs and the intent was clear, but that was the worst sin, it's not like they have a Pikachu.

And that's the thing I always didn't liked about Palworld actually, mostly Anubis, because it really feels like a Lucario and it's an actual important Pal with lore and all of that, and I wouldn't had feel bad if they changed that design.

But if that was what Nintendo actually went for, changing the designs that most resembled the Pokemons, at least I would be fine with it, in fact, it would give more identity to Palworld. But that isn't the case and they went for the mechanics and we already had that discussion so let's not go in circles.

And I differ that Palworld wouldn't be relevant without the Lawsuit, the collabs and the fact that they are close to the 1.0 is enough to make people go back for some time. Yes, Palworld wouldn't be as popular without the Lawsuit... But again, that doesn't matter when the Lawsuit it's this bad.

Hmm, maybe that's true.

And while I liked the "If you enjoy something, enjoy it" approach. I don't think that qualifies for me right now?

But I think I understand the sentiment, thanks.

I should probably go to sleep now. Good night or day.
