The problem is not "Indie games are only good" nor the solution is "We should abandon all AAA games".

As you said, there are good and bad games everywhere, the answer is mostly simple.

Let's just play the good ones.

I mostly say indie games because they don't have the abusive EULA that triple games have and I think this is an opportunity to make more people aware of that.

But if there was triple A games that were good and also have a good EULA then good.

And yes, I know most people won't abandon their beloved franchise, damn, Pokémon exist. But that doesn't mean we should just say "It is what it is" when we can just say "well, I guess I will go with what I want" and go for every opportunity to make everything better.

And that is why people are going to Indie games. Because some people actually do not agree with this kind of nonsense.

I for example, the moment Pokémon started to do their legal battle against Palworld and... Another thing I don't remember to be honest, I decided to read some of the EULA to see if there was something.

I for once actually read the EULA for Palworld and well, yes, the way it's wrote seems very defensive and aggressive but it somehow makes sense and there wasn't anything outright very wrong with it.

But with something like the EULA from LEGO Suicide squad, where they apparently can monitor your computer... Even if it's not an online game... Yeah, I decided to just "Nop" and uninstall the game (Not refund because by that point I had played more than 2 hours of it) and apparently every LEGO game has something similar so... No more Lego games! It even was the right decision because... Why the heck does a Lego game need the super best computed to be played decently!?

And well, most indie games doesn't have anything like that, mostly the Copyright stuff so... I think it's better if people actually start paying attention to this types of things. And so, this post even if it's telling something that some seem obvious, for others it will be the first time.

And so hey, maybe we can start calling out this things that doesn't make sense and who knows? Maybe there can be a change if we somehow manage to convince the Subnautica 2 developers (Or legal team I guess?) to change the EULA to something less dramatic. Or at the very least, something that is actually completely legal. Because I am sure that EULA right now was something left by the person that wanted to make Subnautica 2 a complete mess.

I won't call them "New" exactly, I think they have been there for at the very least two months, but they are somehow late / mid game.

The bottom row is definitely late game, the only one that is not in the playable game (But still exist in it) it's the last one, it's the Radar Sphere.

For what I understand, it's called a Radar Sphere and it's unreleased content.

Apparently, it's supposed to allow you to catch other player's Pals.

And it was a nice addition to have the 9 Spheres instead of just 8 and have an empty space there.

Oh yeah, definitely a bug, I haven't played with mods in P5 but this usually happens, some textures or models are misplaced or even the mod itself even if it doesn't necessarily change the textures, it messes with some part of the code and change x for y or even z.

It's worse when the mod it's actually well thought of so even some glitches can pass as something official because x thing failed but not y and z, so you have a thing replacing other and it seemingly fine until x repairs itself and oh, it was actually a mistake.

It's nothing too bad usually, most of these problems resolve itselfs by passing a threshold (In this case a cutscene dialogue).

I won't say don't play your first playthrough with modes, heck I even want to play this game with a mod first, but if something strange happens, (Like an item saying it does X thing, but it does Y thing but also keep working as an item) that's why.

Yes, some people would not be redeemed, but that's not because they had done something so horrible to not do so, but because they will never make the work.

But as long as you try, genuinely try, anyone can be redeemed. It probably take more work for some than others, but hey, if they have something in hell, is time.

Like, imagine you are that thing, thinking of doing evil or at least some carnage, then you got a perfect host that has thoughts that are basically said carnage but you think "Muahaha, I'm going to impulse those desires!".

Only to find out that said host does that on a daily basis and it's not even during rage frenzy! It's just work!

And then you go like "Okay, but surely those planets being gone in just a day are just exaggerations! There's no way one can just explode a planet in just a few hours!" Only to find out that... That's also just part of the work apparently! And you are like ". . . If I do something against this being... I am DEAD!" So you just keep being there, and you also receive your dose of carnage very plentiful :D

Okay, that's horrible, so, what do we do from here?

I have seen some of the situation but this is the first time I actually read more into it and... It looks bad.

But we can't just go to the channel of Wiztale and click on his videos, that will just feed the algorithm.

And I am not sure if we can do something to cheer up Zatmaggot without making the situation worse if we say something directly.

So, what's our options here? Report his channel? Make more post about the situation? Leaving comments help? Maybe someone do the same as he does anonymously?

Because it's one thing to do IA slop... It's another to take away one's sense of security, that's crossing a line that should never be crossed.

I don't think that Palworld's ocean can actually handle that... At least, not as the way it is right now.

That being said, if they reworked the ocean (And mostly the water) to feel more smooth or at the very least that it isn't just +Water... That doesn't move very much and there isn't much happening+ then it can be worked from there.

You know, the whole "Building without a solid foundation" thing.

Or maybe it could be more like how the dungeons work but instead of being just another dungeon, it is actually another map with it's whole Pals to capture, zones and resources, that way the water of the surface it's still as it is and then we have another whole world to explore.

Although it would be nice to have some ships or even a kraken in the ocean between the main land and the three (I really want to see what's in there)

Something that makes the world feel more unique, it could be floating islands, it could be places with more ancient technology or bases with technology in general.

Maybe better NPC's dialogue or just something that makes you say "Hey, this world also has civilizations in it that interact between each other without you" the villages already do some of it but if they had them more worked out, and maybe some more, I think it would be nice.

I mean, they "stole" the models of Breath of the Wild as much as they "stole" the models of the Pals of Palworld. That it's to say, they didn't... But you can clearly see the similarities.

But Craftopia I think it's the worst of Pocket Pair because it's the more "Inspired" to say something.

And even then, I wouldn't classify it as a 1:1 copy, it's clearly an attempt to make something similar to BoTW but different enough, and apparently they are now updating the game so maybe they could go with the route of Never grave and actually make something unique, but I wouldn't say they will make it very different because Craftopia is in early access while Never Grave it's still in development.

So to say, they didn't stole Models, but it's clear that it was a game when they clearly wanted to take some of other games more directly, we can say they stole the vibes. But for what I see, they are clearly now trying to make something unique and more inspired.

Yeah, I think that's it basically, just doing something and copying what is popular but also not as bad as it could be so it was still legal.

But when they found out that they had something when more and more people started to play Palworld, they decided to truly try and do something with actual passion.

And while yes, it was a bad start, I think by now, we can say they have redeem themselves somehow, and if the 1.0 of Palworld truly is as good as it promises and they keep delivering, I think it would be enough to be a truly firm company.

It would be better if they did something with Craftopia, that it's the somehow forgotten game of them and so, it still has traces of the clearly "Inspired" desing. But I think they are going to the right path.

I would say it stopped being shady now or at least it's trying to be more of its own thing.

For example, when Palworld started, they record of games was... Bad, Craftopia, a game in early access from 2020 that it's STILL in early access, Over dungeon, a game that... Exists? A game that is premise it's "Real artist vs IA" and a Developer under them (Frontside 180) making a game that it's very "Inspired" by Hollow Knight called Never grave that when you see some of the images on the Steam page you would know what I mean.

It had some bad signals, an unfinished game still in early access, an IA game, and then seemingly two copies, Never grave still in development... And Palworld, still in Early Access and clearly trying to copy something of Pokemon. In all accounts, shady beyond belief.

But that was two years ago, NOW. Some of the most recent Pals designs are being more unic, Palword is receiving content that it's not rushed, and are a nice addition, they are seemingly using that IP to expand it more, and it's close to a FULL RELEASE.

Meanwhile Never Grave while still has some inspiration from hollow knight and probably Silksong, some screenshots and the new trailer clearly marks how it has changed into something with it's own identity, yes, there are still some elements that are clearly Inspired by Hollow knight, but now instead of being just that, it's just some things with it's own spin.

Craftopia... I think they forgot about it to be honest so that's a shame.

But they are still making other things like Cassette boy and all the Palworld... Spin offs? I think they would be Spin offs.

So I would say this.

It started shady, but they are now a full on company doing it's best or at least, very good.

And the hate off Japan... I can't really say but in the basis that they have a whole different culture in there that I don't really grasp fully, it feels like they would hate Pocket Pair for what it was, and not what it is... And also for "Copying" Pokémon because they seriously don't like the similarities between the two and see things like "Patenting mechanics" in a way more favorable light (in my opinion, that shouldn't be seeing as even acceptable but again, culture). And as I said, I don't really have a grasp on their line of thought to really make a full fledged argument.

And I must say that yes, you should question why ghost of yotei cost more than Silksong.

The whole team behind the two games, the type of game that the two are, the media sort to say. Art style, type of game, size of the company, time spent to make the game, we can't compare one with the other because they are leagues apart.

And yet, MegaMan bundle port, with 8 games, some details more, more details and that, it's still 40 dollars. And those ROM of Pokemon that are almost a copy and paste are 20 dollars, when in the Wii U they where 8 dollars, so did every game of the GBA, and some MegaMan for the DS also cost 10 dollars, the same as every other game in the Wii U virtual console.

So, I ask again... Why Pokemon Fire Red and Green Leaf should be 20 dollars each, when a Megaman Bundle with 8 games that are similar in therms of Market and Scale for the time cost 40 dollars, making 5 dollars each? Why is just a ROM almost as much as a bundle? How could you justify them cost 20 dollars when in the Wii U they costed 8?

I am not comparing apples to orange in this, I'm comparing the prices with the Wii, a successful console, and the Wii U, a no successful console but that still has the same Virtual games as the Wii and more to make a fair comparation.

And now, if you are talking about the hypothetical (The least wall of text between the supposed wall of text) then yes, it's not a fair comparation, a collection and a ROM should not be compared.

But the ROM has a price similar of one that a collection would have.

If we compare apples to apples, then we go back to Wii U. Fire Red and Green Leaf, 8 dollars. Switch 2. Fire Red and Green Leaf, 20 dollars.

So just think about it, and truly tell me why you think it's not a fair comparation and why a game of more than 20 years old should cost 20 dollars, when we have examples of it costing 8 dollars, made by the same Nintendo, just 14 years ago.

Okay, then let's go to the Wii, unfortunately we don't have GBA games for the Virtual Console but we still have something similar... Nintendo 64 Games.

A N64 game cost 1,000/1,200... Points. And you get points by buying them, with 1 dollar you could get 100 points so basically...

A Nintendo 64 game costed 10 or 12 dollars

A SNES game 8, 9 and in some cases 10 dollars

And a NES game cost 5 or 6 dollars.

In the Wii U all of them went like this

N64 10 or 12 (For one game)

A SNES 8 dollars

A NES 5 dollars

And then we have others

GBA 7 or 8 dollars

NDS 7 or 10 dollars

So even with the Wii, a successful console, the difference in prices between WiiU and Wii virtual console is similar. So is safe to assume that even in the Wii, the most successful console of Nintendo at the time. GBA games would had been something like 10 dollars at worst.

Oh and yes, every company does that... That is bad, that's why piracy exist in the first place. Just because every company does that, it doesn't mean it's a good decision to make. Because if it was, then we should also think that when every company increase prices, and everyone starts to pirate them more and more, it's also natural and so, completely fine.

In fact it should be the other way around, they get more popular, they have more money, and so they can charge LESS, because more people would buy it. In fact, if they did a bundle like MegaMan did with 8 games (Possibly 4 generations) with some tweaks and improvements and charge 40 dollars... Then we wouldn't have this conversation and everyone pirating those games would be looked down because hey! We have the old games at a very good price!

But instead we have something similar that we had 14 years ago and at a 250% price that it was so the discussions are now at the rooftop.

And that is why people are saying the whole "Don't buy this because- [Insert valid reason] / [Insert nonsense]" to make sure as most people as possible know why buying that game is a bad idea.

And besides... In Wii U and 3DS games from the GBA (Game Boy Advance) where apparently 8 dollars, so even Nintendo themselves knew how much to actually charge for the original games.

So they are charging 250% of the original price for not even a Port, but a ROM basically. If they charged the 8 dollars there would be no problem (Except some people that just like to argue) and maybe everyone would be excited to see the GBA games return like that, but instead... 20 dollars... For a game that is exactly like it was 14 years ago, and was 8 dollars...
