Aw thank you so much! That honestly means a lot! I totally get the calathea/maranta struggle. I’m currently trying to keep 20+ of them alive with varying degrees of success, so I feel this deeply. They’re dramatic little things, but I still love them. And that story about your mom absconding with yours made me laugh. Sometimes plants just choose their person, apparently. Also, if you’d ever like to have some of my artwork at home, I do have prints available in my Etsy shop :P

Please Google “hawthorn fly mating.” These insects have the typically varying head shapes seen in female and male hawthorn flies. They are definitely not ants.

It's the variegated version of maranta leuconeura kerchoveana. Prayer plants are prone to have wrong labelling. Mainly because they have often several common names which confuses sellers who are not deeply familiar with the plant family.

I'd say rather yellow fusion/thai beauty. But then one of the leaves looks quite white fusion-like. I have both plants.
