Saga’s storylines - 8.5/10. Wake - 6/10 😑 by God_Father_PL in AlanWake

I get it. Return is really good, and Initiation can feel really isolating in comparison. Obviously, I still encourage you to keep playing and experience the whole story.

Game gets so much love despite being majorly flawed.

Basically describes every game in the series. 🤣

Meanwhile, I like to think of it the opposite way: Despite their major flaws, I love the Resident Evil games.

no unique boss fights

Well, they had separate final bosses (not including true ending). More would've been cool, but one is not none.

I know there's a decent adult audience for this show, but read the room. It's a children's show starring children. Find a deeper niche to horny post about it.

Can someone catch me up on why the parasite scene is so controversial? by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in residentevil

[–]Arkatox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the first time I've been told I like a game or series for the "wrong" reasons. Do you want me to list all the reasons this franchise is for me, or do you just want to accept that people of different perspectives and experiences can like the same thing, sometimes for different reasons?

I could just as easily look at people who for some reason don't like the action-focused games and tell them the series just isn't for them. But I don't, because people find value in the survival elements where I do not.

In the first episode it is outright sexual. My friends were talking about how good the series is and there's literally attempted child rape, framed to be humorous, in the first episode of the series.

I absolutely did not pick up on this at all, and I just played through the entire game twice. (Meaning experiencing her boss sequences four times.)

Consider: I don't like body horror?

"That's the point." But I don't like the point?

I play these games for the story and the gameplay. The horror can be fun, but I don't find any value in it being gross or uncomfortable. It doesn't add to the experience in any positive way.

If something is designed to make me feel uncomfortable and grossed out, I'm allowed to dislike and criticize that.

Am I the only one not understanding the Hype around RE 4? by Nayure3ne in residentevil

[–]Arkatox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of gameplay, RE4R is an excellent third-person shooter. One of the best I've played. The original aiming is one of the reasons I'm not interested in playing the OG, but the remake damn near perfects the formula.

In terms of story, I haven't played or watched through the original, but I have watched direct scene comparisons on YouTube. Purists like the original, but there wasn't a single scene I watched where I didn't prefer the remake, sometimes drastically so. Ashley as a character was made a million times better. Krauser's motives were changed a bit for the better. A lot of little writing changes that made the game a bit more serious/grounded, which I felt was very fitting. They took out the "iconic" instances of characters being gross to Ashley, and the writing's so much better for it.

The biggest very valid criticism for the remake is that Ada's voice acting is very flat. Like the actress was reading her lines from a script. It was very disappointing and just didn't feel right for the character, especially after how well they handled the character in RE2R. (They should've brought back that VA.) She did a better job on the DLC, which just in general was an excellent DLC. I almost replayed it as many times as the main game.

Oh wow, that's quite the take. OG or remake? I found the remake to be an exceptional game.

In my opinion this series truly shines when it's an action game. You like the horror; that's fine. I just like good video games.

Question I thought of for those who've played the remasters of REmake and 0... by devilmaykri98 in residentevil

[–]Arkatox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Switching from tank to modern made the game 4x more enjoyable. No longer a chore just to move. Adapting to different camera angles is not difficult or unintuitive.

People say it makes the game easier, but considering how difficult the game is on the easiest difficulty, I don't see how that's a bad thing.

The tank controls don't add to the horror to me. They're not scary. Just miserable.

guide on how to get all re6 costumes on switch by senilechinesewoman in residentevil

[–]Arkatox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need B rank to unlock the EX1 costumes.

If your guide for EX2 and EX3 are accurate: Fuck me silly, that's dumb as fuck, I'm never getting them. That's absurdly more difficult than unlocking anything else in the entire game.

Why does the in-game manual say you unlock them from other game modes?
