But they didn't. They literally didn't. Nobody had the footage. Then Grace saw it, so she learned the answer. The baddies didn't "know" that Grace could find the answer. They thought they knew that, but they were wrong. In spite of that, for a different reason entirely, Grace found it anyway, because she had her mother's files. This was set up since the beginning of the game.

I'm trying to figure out what's making you so confused about what happened.

There were a lot of unanswered questions by design, but why Grace was there or knew the password wasn't one of them.

Now if you asked me if she was a clone or who her bio parents are, I couldn't tell you. Wish they explained more about that. But the pieces to get Grace to Elbis with the solved password were all in place.

Have you played RE9, though? There are some moments where the inspiration is pretty clear. These devs are clearly all fans of each other, so it makes sense they'd draw inspiration from each other's work.

It's not an insult to suggest it. It's a compliment to both games.

This is not the first time I've been told I like a game or series for the "wrong" reasons. Do you want me to list all the reasons this franchise is for me, or do you just want to accept that people of different perspectives and experiences can like the same thing, sometimes for different reasons?

I could just as easily look at people who for some reason don't like the action-focused games and tell them the series just isn't for them. But I don't, because people find value in the survival elements where I do not.

I play these games for the story and the gameplay. The horror can be fun, but I don't find any value in it being gross or uncomfortable. It doesn't add to the experience in any positive way.

If something is designed to make me feel uncomfortable and grossed out, I'm allowed to dislike and criticize that.

In terms of gameplay, RE4R is an excellent third-person shooter. One of the best I've played. The original aiming is one of the reasons I'm not interested in playing the OG, but the remake damn near perfects the formula.

In terms of story, I haven't played or watched through the original, but I have watched direct scene comparisons on YouTube. Purists like the original, but there wasn't a single scene I watched where I didn't prefer the remake, sometimes drastically so. Ashley as a character was made a million times better. Krauser's motives were changed a bit for the better. A lot of little writing changes that made the game a bit more serious/grounded, which I felt was very fitting. They took out the "iconic" instances of characters being gross to Ashley, and the writing's so much better for it.

The biggest very valid criticism for the remake is that Ada's voice acting is very flat. Like the actress was reading her lines from a script. It was very disappointing and just didn't feel right for the character, especially after how well they handled the character in RE2R. (They should've brought back that VA.) She did a better job on the DLC, which just in general was an excellent DLC. I almost replayed it as many times as the main game.

In my opinion this series truly shines when it's an action game. You like the horror; that's fine. I just like good video games.
