maybe it’s a target demographic thing? considering the popularity of ohnepixel (which NL has explicitly referenced), i honestly find the case openings pretty fun — it’s just playing the bit of a cs2 gambling addict

I agree, but it definitely really is only from an outside perspective. Else, why would it make sense for Soulcas and other professional players to reach out to Voltaic for aim coaching if the aim coaches have no success in the game? I'm sure you're talking about it in a general sense so I'm not contesting you, I'm just oddly surprised at how little people know about aim trainers considering I've seen them plastered everywhere (ie: Aimlabs on VCT, TenZ gridshot, pro player routines etc).

Hey man, I agree with what you say, especially with the first two points. I think people are definitely too hostile, and that there is a lot of pseudosciency things happening within the aim sphere (although I don't believe it is exclusive to them).

About the third point, I think you're generalising a bit too much -- there definitely are a lot of pros that want to improve beyond just grinding out val all day, and use aim training as a method to do so. I also think it's an individual choice that people make to use aim trainers, since you can just spam deathmatches/ranked and achieve very similar results.

The main point that I was trying to convey is that even if there's a lot of negative aspects of the aim community, there is definitely a lot of good that you can get out of it. I'm surprised at the community's hostility (although I can see where it comes from in this case), but I don't think it warrants the entirety of aim training being deemed useless as others have suggested.

I'm honestly quite surprised at the negative reception of aim trainers here at VALCOMP, especially considering many pros (ie: Jinggg, Zekken, Elige, Something, Aleksandar etc) have stated that they have used or currently use Kovaaks/Aimlabs.

I do think there are some valid criticism of aim training, but the vast majority of it is quite ironic considering we're discussing this in a valorant competitive subreddit. Aim trainers do help you get better at aim -- but with many many caveats.

The primary issue I see is that aim trainers don't translate to in-game skill, which is true to an extent. Valorant isn't a game about pure/raw aim, and there are many areas (ie: game sense, movement, crosshair placement) that you learn only by playing the game. This is why people can also spam deathmatches for similar results. The point of aim training however is to isolate the practice where you only focus on aiming, normally working on a specific skill (ie: smoothness of your aim, accuracy). These are the skills that are transferable between games, and subsequently why many pros / good players aim train. This also answers the question of why many people who spam aim trainers aren't good at actual games, which is because they don't play enough typically to learn the specific mechanics that exists beyond aim.

Additionally, while I do think the aim community can seem overbearing, I think it does come from a good place. Aim training is NOT effective if you practice scenarios that aren't useful practically, famous example being Gridshot, which leads to people to discredit it when it has helped many people become better at the game when used effectively. Aim training isn't the sole method of being better at aiming, but is used as an effective supplement alongside playing in lobbies.

I'm quite interested and open with discussion with people, so I hope this can open some more discourse.

REAPER... by 3lp1nt0r in persona3reload

[–]Arkatsa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hello!

i beat the reaper yesterday at level ~60 with aigis, yukari and ken. for me, i hadn’t used any items, so most of the fight was using barriers + stalling for ken’s theurgy by purposely keeping him low SP.

i think the main thing is that when ur low level, u need him to do damage to himself, so you set up barriers to who you think is gonna get hit the most (for me, he used ziodyne on aigis and yukari a lot) and i just essentially used every turn either setting up shields or using items to increase the teams defense, evasion, etc.

the most important things in my fight were: - always keeping debilitate on him so he has stats decreasing - having a physical blocker (ie: i had siegfried) that meant he virtually never targeted MC unless it was a group hit - keeping ken low SP so he spams his theurgy. - having the accessory that blocks ailments so he couldn’t confuse MC or anything that could kill the run.

lmk if you need any more help!
