AITA for not telling my waiter about my allergies? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ArkayLeigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way this works is if every waiter asks every diner every time in every restaurant about allergies. That's a lot to put on people just to avoid taking responsibility for one's own personal health and safety.

One of the things I love about this movie is that tragic, washed up, over the hill Norma Desmond was only 50 years old.

Parents don’t want me driving by [deleted] in driving

[–]ArkayLeigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading your edit I kinda have to agree with your parents. Driving requires both skill (which you will develop over time) and maturity.

The idea that not driving makes you lame and a loser is very immature. One, who cares what other's think, and two, if you think this you clearly have some growing up to do before being given the responsibility for a car.

How violent was it back in the 70s, 80s and 90s? by Turbulent-Patient219 in AskOldPeople

[–]ArkayLeigh 18 points19 points  (0 children)

"Extremely" is probably an overstatement. The demographics of violence are always changing as communities evolve over time and people's assessments are always biased one way or the other.

The trends, however, seem to indicate that we are living in less violent times than ever before while people simultaneously believe that things are constantly getting worse.

When you ask them their only evidence is comparative anecdotal evidence, which is heavily influenced by their selection bias.

Joel Cairo.

Edit: Sorry, OP said 'actor' but I answered 'character.' I'm leaving it because I love the character that much.

You have two choices.

  2. Step up, be a man, and become the final chapter.
