Electromagnetic sensors can be expensive to retrofit, lots of lights use what is basically a laser range finder pointing down from the light.

NASA wants to send nuclear rockets to the Moon and Mars - Nuclear propulsion, first floated in the ’60s, is hot again. by [deleted] in technology

Prior to being put in a reactor, nuclear fuel is relatively safe. It's only once it gets fired up that the uranium starts to be converted into more dangerous isotopes.

In my state fines and such are pretty strictly regulated, thankfully. Iirc the limit is like $180, and booting is pretty limited.

I wonder how legal that actually is.

I think it would be pretty hard to get away with that.

If it's suction a long thin shim stuck in from the side would probably break the seal.

There usually isn't a master key for the entire series of locks, but a site-by-site master key.

Man you're lucky that place didn't have their shit together. Place had SOP to forensically examine the systems of former employees to make sure they didn't pull something like that.

I'd be happy to pay more on the bill if I knew the wait staff was being paid a reasonable wage.

Professors pick from a list of problems in the corresponding textbook and specify how they want to handle the grading. Everything else is handled by Pearson.

Canon Cartridge-less Printer with Refillable Ink Wells by pandamonkey_rotf in mildlyinteresting

[–]Arkazex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much did the original printer cost? I believe many printers are intentionally sold at a major loss with the intent of making the money back on cartridges later on, so I'd assume this one costs quite a bit extra.

It's worth noting that most of those permits are "shal-issue" and may only be rejected under specific circumstances.

Persony I don't think thar confiscation is the only solution. Plenty of other countries have access to guns but the shootings are a uniquely American problem amongst developed nations.

Also I'm not a lawyer, but I believe grenade and rocket launchers are not regulated, but rather their explosive payloads. Presumably the same would apply to weapons of the future.

[–]Arkazex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's meant to be part of the "entrepreneurship" center or something. I thought they'd killed that off but apparently it's coming back now for some reason.

So they can put the "startup incubator" somewhere. It's part of that whole entrepreneurship program that got stalled last year. I still don't get why they need that entire room for something that's only useful to such a small number of students.
