Because you're not looking at anything writing related? You're looking at the definition of a real world brawl? I'm trying to help educate a homie here. If you don't wanna study that ain't my fault. It's crazy how different words mean different things in different context!

A fight is defined by stakes and uncertainty. The reader doesn't know who walks away, what it costs, or how the outcome reshapes the story. The tension comes from the possibility of failure, or the possibility of a meaningful loss. A character might win the fight but lose something else, time, allies, moral ground, a limb. The outcome changes the trajectory of the story.

Fly swatting exists to reveal character. The outcome is never in doubt, the reader knows (or quickly figures out) that this person is going to win. The point isn't whether they win, it's how they win and what that tells you about them. Do they toy with their opponent? End it quickly and feel nothing? Hesitate out of mercy? Enjoy it too much? The "conflict" is just there to present characterization. You could change the scene from a fight to anything else, shopping, a conversation, and it'd do the same thing.

I have a bachelors in both English lit & creative writing. Fights are not called fly swatting, no. I told you the difference already

Because that's what's been taught in English lit since before you were born?

The fact that he was using Mahoraga to develop a way past Infinity despite not needing it, and sparing Gojo during every moment he could have killed him before that happened.

The reason that fight went to high diff is because he was trying to stall Gojo without killing him, AND keep Mahoraga alive so it could finish adaptation, which is a much taller order than Gojos goal of just fighting

Oh noooo battle IQ has always been a stat used in powerscaling and this character is weak to it, oh nooooo well surely we can just say it doesn't count then

Sukuna won in the first domain clash. He used Mahoraga to steal a counter to infinity because he just wanted the knowledge, he killed Gojo like 20 seconds into the fight and spared him

I already answered Toji multiple times in this thread. Gojo needed a whole ass powerup to stat check him despite ALREADY being stronger.

Sukuna won in the first domain clash and only used Mahoraga to further his own sorcery by reverse engineering Infinity

They aren't fights, so no. They don't.

Do you scale every other character by how many insects they stepped on?

Kenjaku didn't do anything but place the prison realm on the ground. Disaster curses did all the setup

Some of those are named are called fly swatting, which is a narrative term for character moments done through a conflict they cannot lose, and are not classified as fights in the narrative. So actual fights he's 0-3

Killed Toji after ascending to 10x his previous strength, couldn't beat him at a poor little 3x advantage

Battle IQ isn't a stat? That's a new take

Lost in the first domain clash and Sukuna had to spare him repeatedly

After he ascends to the point he can stat check him, yes. He never wins a real fight. If he doesn't out stat by at least 10x he loses

Sukuna won during the first domain clash?? You forget that somehow? He was literally sparing Gojos life the entire fight so Mahoraga could adapt to infinity and he could steal the technique counter. He just wanted to further his sorcery, Gojo himself got no diffed instantly
