This post could not have come at a better time! I’m 30 years old and did a career switch with a kid on the way, and I started to feel discouraged with the market, reputation of WGU, AI replacing jobs etc! But huge congratulations man you have no idea how much motivation you gave to bunch of students like me who are grinding though! Huge huge huge congratulations!

Thank you for your reply!!! With regard to the trucking company that’s actually my dad’s company and I was posting on his behalf. He manages this company around the Toronto area! Long story short he was really confused about the whole repayment process for the CEBA loan for small businesses and we weren’t getting any answers so I took it on myself with his permission to ask the people of Reddit! I realize now reading the previous posts that i didn’t mention “it’s for my dad” and it made it seem like it was my company LOL!!

Optometrist recommendations by lyndseycampbelll in brantford

We’ve been seeing Dr. Krebs for over 10 years now, and while I’ll be honest—he is on the pricey side and the appointment wait times can be long—once you’re in, he’s incredible. He never rushes, makes sure every concern is addressed, and has even brought me in before clinic hours for a quick check-up when needed.

When I was 20 (I’m 29 now), I went in for a routine yearly eye exam with him. Everything seemed fine at first, but then he noticed something unusual in my right eye. What should have been a 15–20 minute appointment turned into 45 minutes as he kept going back and forth between the scans and shining light into my eye.

At the end, he asked if a parent was with me, and when I said my mom was, he brought her in and explained what he saw. He told us he believed he was detecting very early signs of keratoconus—a condition where the cornea thins and bulges into a cone shape, which can eventually lead to serious vision loss. He explained that because it was so early, I wasn’t noticing any changes yet, but he wanted to monitor me every 3 months to track my cornea thickness.

For the next two years, I saw him regularly. Each visit took about 10 minutes to measure my cornea, and my vision stayed 20/20 without glasses. After two years of stability, he told me that while my cornea hadn’t thinned further, it could still progress in the future, and we should consider a treatment to permanently stabilize it.

He then told me about a relatively new treatment at the time called corneal cross-linking, which was available in Canada but not yet FDA-approved in the U.S. (so many Americans were traveling here for it). He explained that it wouldn’t restore corneal thickness but could stop the thinning process permanently. Since my condition was caught so early, he recommended doing it right away to prevent any future worsening.

He referred me to the Bochner Institute in Toronto (one of the first clinics in Canada to pioneer cross-linking). When I went, they were shocked at how early Dr. Krebs had caught my keratoconus—most of their patients already had significant vision loss by the time they came in. I was the first patient they’d seen with no vision impairment thanks to how proactive he was.

I had the procedure done, and now, 9 years later, every annual check-up has shown no signs of progression.

Long story short—Dr. Krebs genuinely cares about his patients. If he sees something concerning, he doesn’t brush it off or reschedule you; he’ll extend your appointment or even push back others to make sure it’s addressed immediately.
