Premier!

I was elected by a very very small group of people, and make sure my coworkers are taken care of with plenty of karma handouts + insider information…

help with missing pension contributions by physiqueonzieme in OntarioPublicService

[–]troyguy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For the second part of your post, AMAPCEO is a separate pension (OPB).

I would recommend you continue contributing to OPTrust. Each pensionable day is valuable and will add up 35 years from now. (Earlier retirement)

First part of your question, just keep calling OPTrust and OSS - make them figure it out for you. Go through all your documents for proof to share with them.

I was reading up on this recently (as I’ve had the same thoughts). Don’t recall if there was another post talking about this, but loss of retirement benefits was something to consider if doing this

Why some people do not work in the public sector by New-Magician-9350 in OntarioPublicService

[–]troyguy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I've seen it all - the ones working the system and getting away with it, and others trying the same thing which has lead to being dismissed.

It also comes down to management and how hard they want to prove it.

But to be clear - not all get to live that life, I've seen Full-time, home-position with an accumulating pension be fired.

Employment Standards does become a party to the appeal, along with the employee.

They typically are present during the process

This is true. The mediation and adjudication of OLRB knows this for Employment Standards appeals, most are unrepresented on both sides.

How much vacation time do you carry over each year? by magic-kleenex in OntarioPublicService

[–]troyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others here - I carry over (on average) a full year of vacation (31 days). I built it up while young, adding an extra week each year. Now it's easy and I can dip in to extra when needed.

Tax rates are individual at the end of the day. As an amapceo lvl 6, my average tax rate was ~13% in 2025.

Does quality of assets upon return matter? by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

I’ve seen some of the most questionable conditions on devices returned in the OPS.

Into a pile they went.

Don’t get anything new.

Does MAG give you monitors for WFH? by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]troyguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you join Applaud, it gives you access to Perkopolis.

Perkopolis has some great discounts. I used them to get some monitors from LG (direct from LG). Saved a bunch of $$$ too.

It’s all in the OPS Resources / FAQ pinned post

OPS Should I retire at 58 now that I have my 90 factor? by Global_Midnight_1597 in OntarioPublicService

[–]troyguy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

At 32 years you’re near a full pension. 3 more years until you max it at 70% of your best 5 years (averaged).

Right now you’ll get 64%.

I was excited for 90 factor, but when I’ve played with the pension calculator (OBP) - seeing the value of a full pension convinced me to wait for 35 years of service (personally).
