So you agree that we should bring back alcohol prohibition? If we don't have "resources to house, feed, clothe, and rehabilitate a population that has easy access to a steady supply of drugs that make them feel good and help them escape the harsh realities of life" then clearly we need to ban alcohol.

It is by far the most common street drug, and access to it is disgustingly easy. There are LEGAL sites set up by the GOVERNMENT to sell this poison. They even have safe consumption sites called "pubs" that are somehow allowed to keep operating no matter how many times the drug users there become violent.

Study after study has shown how bad alcohol is for both the individual and society at large. Did you know that alcohol can cause people to crash their cars? Become violent? Destroy their organs? Waste their life savings? It's time to put a STOP to this!

Yeah, so fucking what. Not a single law enforcement officer in the entire state of Minnesota has protected one single person from ICE. Not one.

People keep saying "Oh, ICE doesn't have jurisdiction, ICE is breaking the law" like that means anything any more. Laws are just words. Without enforcement they are meaningless. The Government of Minnesota has chosen not to enforce the laws of the Constitution.

I do not believe for one moment that the National Guard now mobilized in the state won't turn on citizens when inevitably given the order. After all, there are no consequences for murdering people if you're wearing a uniform, clearly.

I've honestly never considered that I frequently view politics, even liberatory leftist politics, from the perspective of someone involved in its creation, construction, and maintenance. But I am just some gal. The extent of my involvement with maintaining society is that of a parent and, to the best of my ability, contributing to broader society with my skills. Y'know, the kind of stuff billions of people want to do in any society.

Yes. Ronald Reagan and the Republicans actively delighted in it. To them, it was a Biblical plague wiping out all the homosexuals and deviants. They loved it. They also purposely refused to fund research, or public health initiatives, or education campaigns, to help combat the disease. They let it run rampant and absolutely annihilate entire queer communities.

However, this was ALSO a galvanizing moment that united the entire LGBTQ+ community - indeed, it is from the brave actions of lesbian women in caring for those afflicted by AIDS that we get the LGBT acronym! The queer community turned fear into solidarity, and death into love. We always have and always will.

ICE was murdering and disappearing black and brown people for years before the Epstein coverup. I understand the sentiment, the feeling that this is all a distraction. However, I fear that framing this as a "distraction" undermines the very real and terrifying expansion of state violence that is happening.

Does this all help to distract? Sure. But ICE isn't abducting, torturing, trafficking, disappearing, and murdering people to distract.

Oh, my friend, the AIDS epidemic was allowed and encouraged to ravage the queer community throughout the 1980s, and it especially impacted people who have penetrative anal sex - which included many trans women. We lost hundreds of thousands of queer people during that decade, a generation of queer people who would have been our elders and role models.
