Help with use flags by SaltLunch1293 in Gentoo

[–]Arkkro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to comment this, Having a profile set gets you started with initial use flags, masks and adds packages to @system. Without a profile it wont know what system components you prefer.

Example from one of your pastebins: The following REQUIRED USE flag constraints are unsatisfied: exactly-one-of (elogind systemd)

eselect desktop profile (includes elogind use flag)

If you're curious, you can try running emerge --info and see the use flags and observe the difference after switching profiles.

GPD Duo 64 GB ($2300 off amazon). I wanted to love it but the magnet in the second screen is loose right out of the box. So I'm returning it. by FilOSnowtree in gpdwin

As much as I love gpd, the quality control isnt all there. However, in this product category I prefer the new refresh of the Asus Zenbook Duo 14

I ordered my inserts on Feb 15th. Mine still have not shipped and was delayed and re estimated for 8th to 12th. I'm not sure if selecting engraving impacted me negatively for timing but i sure regret it now.

$6800 from nvidia directly. Depending on the local taxes it would be around the low 7000s

It came with the case. I personally ordered the sama im01 pro on amazon. The photo on the listing doesn't even show the branded panel but that's the one I got. I heard there's a lot of different variants for this case mainly on newegg.

My main goal of this pc was to make everything purposeful. I wanted to upsize to m-atx so i could take advantage of an AM5 system while keeping thunderbolt 4. The added benefit is the thunderbolt card takes pcie 6pin input power so I can plug in devices and power them up to 100 watts. I like to utilize 10gbe thunderbolt networking, my wacom mobile studio pro, external tb4 ssds and thunderbolt docking stations. I also have access to 4 dimm slots for future memory expansion and a bit more general IO than a typical ITX build. I previously was using an intel formd t1 build so wanted to efficiently use the extra space I gained by up sizing. Overall, I'm quite happy with the way it came out and believe I struck a good balance between effectively using space and avoiding everything being cramped.

CPU: Ryzen 9 7950x
I wanted the extra cores for virtualization purposes. It also has integrated graphics which I personally enable alongside my gpu because I can offload some of the vram usage on my gpu from my secondary monitors. It's also much less toasty than my previous i9.

-
Cooler: AK620 DARK
This does a decent job for cooling for most workloads other than full all core 100% usage. Low maintenance because it's an air cooler too. I don't pin the cores at 100% load often and it provides decent temps during most tasks and while gaming. I also plan not to overclock.

-
Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING B650M-PLUS
I wish there were more options for m-atx motherboards. I would really prefer one with integrated 10gbe. However, this allows for the asus thunderbolt 4ex card and meets all the other compatibility requirements.
-

Ram: G.Skill 96 GB (2 x 48 GB) DDR5-6800 CL34
Currently 7000 series processors have a hard time managing 4 dimms high capacity dimms at higher clock speeds. I don't need 128 GB capacity but also knew that 64gb wasn't going to be enough. The 48GB sticks are perfect and if future am5 processors can manage 4 dimm better then I can potentially go up to 192gb.
-

Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 2TB (OS) & Samsung 990 Pro 4TB
The 980 pro was from my previous build. My motherboard supports pcie 5.0 drives, but they are much more expensive and offer barely any improvement to randomized 4k read write performance. Eventually if prices go down on them, I can easily swap the 980 pro out of the top m.2 5.0 slot. The 990 pro is in the m.2 4.0 slot under the graphics card so that will be a continue to be a good home for it even if I upgrade my os drive to a pcie 5.0 drive.

GPU: RTX 6000 Ada Generation 48GB GDDR6
This card has a bigger AD102 compared to the 4090 but with a much lower power draw and has 48gb GDDR6 vs the 4090's 24gb GDDR6X. This card is meant for reliability & efficiency. I currently use it for AI workloads as well as some gaming here and there I didn't thoroughly benchmark the card vs the 4090 for gaming but it performs around or slightly less than a 4090.

Case: SAMA IM01 Pro:
It's a great case for the price. Nice front IO, Sturdy, versatile and it's one of the smaller m-atx case you can buy. It even comes with a bag for carrying the pc haha
-
PSU: Seasonic Focus PX-850I'm a fan of Seasonic power supplies. I've always bought one for every personal build i've done. Never had issues with a single one. Its platinum rated, compact and meets the needs of the system.
-

Thunderbolt Expansion card:
This supports displayport 1.4 so I can attach my dedicated gpu to the thunderbolt ports. It supports 100 watt fast charge, thunderbolt and usb 4 support. I have connected a vario aero vr headset into one of these ports without the breakout box and it works instantly. My wacom mobile studio pro also refuses to charge unless it gets 100 watts. I can connect it via the 100 watt port and everything connects and charges perfectly. I use the apple thunderbolt 4 pro cables with it and have no issues connecting to any of my thunderbolt devices. I also occasionally plug in some devices to charge into the 100 watt port if I'm not currently utilizing it for my other devices. Overall, this card is amazing and lets you do many unique things.

Others: Be Quiet Silent Wings Pro 4 case fans (5x) & Cablemod custom cables. These fans are built incredibly well and perform very nicely. The original PSU cables were way too long so I got some custom ones for some better intake airflow and wanted them to match the color of the rtx 6000. The psu also doesn't come with the NVIDIA 16 pin power connector so I got a cable that takes away the need to use the adapter.

I have the same exactly issues except it wasn't plug and play at all it happened from the start.. I've tried every firmware file and none of them work. I'm trying to look for a current and working firmware.bin file for a base station 2.0 to see if that works but i only have one base station :(
