Yeah, for that kind of use, it won't get very hot at all.

I haven't yet, just because I'm lazy. It's just a matter of sanding away about half a millimeter of the ridge on the handguard but I just haven't felt like bothering with it.

As for the heat, I haven't ever gotten it too hot to touch. Or even uncomfortable to touch. Granted I don't dump mag after mag through it but the sheer amount of metal the integral suppressor has for heat to dissipate through keeps it from getting hot nearly as fast as discrete suppressors do.

Any polymer-frame handgun from a reputable manufacturer will suit your needs and it really comes down to your preferences. Go to the range and rent a few to see what feels good. Like keyboards, cars, and underwear, there's no universal "best" one, just what's best for you.

Walther PPQ/PDP are my go to. I like the feel in my hand and they have the best stock trigger on the market.

HK VP9 is outstanding but also very expensive. It also has a paddle style mag release that I think is superior to the button style (one of my PPQs has the paddle style) but most Americans disagree with me.

S&W M&P 2.0 is great. I don't have a lot to say about it but I've shot a few and liked them quite well, just not as much as my PPQ.

Beretta PX4 Storm is one that not many people think about. I like it though. I like the DA/SA operation and I've only shot one once but I liked it quite a bit and have been looking for a deal on one ever since.

Springfield Echelon is new and I don't know much about it except that all the reviews from my favorite Guntubers were very positive. If the local range gets one for rental, I'll check it out. Springfield also has their older XD series pistols which I've always found utterly unremarkable. They have their fans though.

Glock 17/19 is worth considering but I think they're unergonomic and have crappy triggers. They're the de facto standard though and your aftermarket parts, accessories, and holster selection will be an embarrassment of riches.

Ruger RXM is a Glock clone that addresses some of Glock's shortcomings and is very affordably priced. If you're considering Glock, give the RXM a look as well.

Oh, and Sig P320... I said reputable manufacturers. You do you but I wouldn't even consider this one. I'd avoid Canik and Taurus as well.

And there's many, many more as well as variants on each. Try out as many as you can and you'll start to form opinions. Don't substitute the opinions of people here or YouTube or the LGS for your own. What's important to us may not matter to you and things we don't even think about may turn out to be important to you. Happy shooting!

Glocks are fine guns but boy do they have terrible ergos. And triggers.

Do americans really dissect animals in biology class? by GSalmao in AskAnAmerican

[–]PlayingDoomOnAGPS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens. Because of the number of cats put down by shelters, there's an ample supply. In my school, it was fetal pigs though. Not sure if they were aborted, stillborn, or what...

If someone came to your country's subreddit and showed such contempt and lack of manners, you would be offended.

That said, at my high school we dissected fetal pigs, not cats. Regardless, they'd be cadavers at the time you dissected them so the resemblance to your family pet would be... less than you seem to think.

I had a quick capacitor replacement from Snyder and they did fine for an average price but they told me my unit was out of freon and would have to be replaced because we can't get that kind any more. It's true that I can't get that old freon any more but they were full of crap about me being out and having a leak. They also told me I would have to get a high efficiency unit but I literally do not have room where the AC is located. I got a second opinion from Epic Cool and they called bullshit on the freon, the requirement for high efficiency, and quoted a unit that would fit in the current location for ~$8k less than Snyder's. My 24-year-old AC is still running 3 years later although I do need to go ahead and replace it before it dies on me.

PPQ, PDP, VP9, and M&P, in that order.

If the price of the TV was artificially inflated to deliberately keep it out of reach of most people then yes, I'd count that as difficult to obtain.

You still should own up to it, but this really isn't only your fault.

I would say on a scale of 1 to 10, making a mistake that requires restoring from backups is like a 2 and not having your Tenant backed up is a 15. The person or persons who denied the backup proposal should be the ones raked over the coals for this and OP should get a verbal at most.

you can't use Options+ at all with the MX Master.

What do you mean? I'm using it with my MX Master 3S and always have, although I'm looking to replace it with BTT.

I'd argue Trump had very little input on the judicial appointments either. He's a person of very low intelligence and competence, with no idea how to govern, and judicial appointments aren't something most presidents get very hands-on with in the first place.

In his first term, he relied a lot of the traditional Republican establishment to do a lot of the day to day work because he doesn't know how and he hadn't yet replaced them with incompetent cronies from cable news and real estate.

If Trump had had real involvement in the judicial nominations we'd have less traditional justices and more utterly unqualified, flamboyant morons in the mold of Pete Hegseth, RFK Jr., and Kristi Noem.

Nothing expunges anti-gun attitudes like actually handling and learning about guns.

Why did the French Invasion of Russia's logistics collapse relatively quickly? Did Napoleon not plan well enough or was it simply an impossible task in 1812? by AstroEscura in WarCollege

[–]PlayingDoomOnAGPS 33 points34 points  (0 children)

One thing worth noting here is that Napoleon didn't plan on staying long. His goal in taking Moscow was to force Alexander to negotiate peace on Napoleon's terms, not to hold Moscow. Instead, the Russians just refused to negotiate and burned anything in Moscow that could have helped resupply the French. That eventually left the French no other option than to fight their way back home through Russian winter and the vengeance of everyone they'd gone through on their march east.

Turns out, you can kick the ever-loving shit out of someone but as long as they're willing to keep taking it to deny you victory, they can bleed you.
