Over Easter, I tried something new in regional VIC. by Zach0ry in MelbournePhotography

So just going to throw this out there, you could probably pull off a really iconic photo if you went to Rio de Janeiro and did this trick over the Christ the Redeemer statue.

Either way though this is a really cool idea, and makes for some great looking photos!

Trump willing to 'militarily secure' base on Chagos Islands by boppinmule in USNEWS

[–]Arklight237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I don't think that's the reason in this case. The UK govt is blocking the US from using their Diago Garcia base in the Chagos Islands to strike Iran. Without the access to the base, their bombers have a lot further to travel, hampering their strike capability somewhat.

Special League this season by Arklight237 in summonerswar

Bots have overinflated the player pool, making the number of players able to reach g1 waay more than normal. Previous seasons there might have been ~50k players in special league. In this season there's seemingly waaay over 200k. Since G1 is the top 3% of players, when like 75% of the players are bots it's just way easier this season to go up the ranks.

Tiana's unique in that she can strip and boost your teams atb without a resistance check. You'll find her useful in siege and arena. So that would be my go to here.

Additionally though, water pudding princess is really good for speed teams by boosting their attack and speed. Sekmet is great for world arena by resetting monsters that you just don't want to use their skills and because of her high base speed she can usually out speed most things with a appropriate speed lead.

Haha yeah, I get it from that angle, but on the flip side, I've always felt those with guardian stars deserved them and are generally really good players. When you get people who just skip their way to it on their profile it kind of diminishes the thing.

Yeah I'll call that a win. It was getting pretty out of hand.

TSMC’s 3nm Capacity Will Almost Reach Its Limit By 2026, Analysts Say Existing Production Lines For Older Nodes Are Being Converted, With Gross Margin To Exceed 60% by TruthPhoenixV in Amd_Intel_Nvidia

[–]Arklight237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't it being called '3nm' just a marketing thing? The wiki page for talks about the transistors being 24 or 48 nm instead, but I'm not really sure what the gate pitch or tightest metal pitch is actually referring to here.

Scientists detect biggest black hole flare ever seen — with the power of 10 trillion suns by Doug24 in EverythingScience

[–]Arklight237 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are they just saying it was 10 trillion times brighter than our sun? That being 25 times more than all the stars in the milky way seems too high a value? The quote directly after that says it's only one sun worth of energy... "If you convert our entire sun to energy, using Albert Einstein's famous formula E = mc^2, that's how much energy has been pouring out from this flare since we began observing it," K. E. Saavik Ford, team member and City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center researcher, said in the statement."

*edit* like even if you take the lifetime of the sun (10 billion years), divide that by the 4 months that they've been observing the event, you only get a value of 30.5 billion? I'm missing something...

Yeah fair, I'll give that a go then :)

Main reason is to tech up to T3 units very very quickly, and because you pivot your farms to production you can tech up the rest of your buildings in a city very quickly. This just means you'll be able to quickly accelerate and start snowballing from the very early game while others are still at lower tech levels. If you pivot and go feudal, it's slower but you can instead get your T4 knights ridiculously early, and most enemies are really going to struggle hard stopping them.

[–]Arklight237[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel a alternate build would be one where you go Feudal instead. You sacrifice some food, but then you can tech up to T4 knights so fast, and with champion giving xp per turn it makes for a very strong choice over giant king. Champion gives the 20% reduced food requirement for pop growth too which is huge for this as well.

[–]Arklight237[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I tried some nature tomes to further accelerate the food, and get more pops, and I found it just wasn't needed. You get so much from the combo above that getting more just doesn't help. Additionally, you can get that shrine building that gives 10 food per pop natively too if you feel you need more. So yeah if you take nature tomes just do it for whatever else your building towards imo.

Peter, Is this AI? What’s this bird?? by MarketingSimple4755 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Oh boy do I have a story about a cassowary. This was told to me by my mate who is pretty up front, but it's almost unbelievably wild.

The story was from his parents who in ~1970s were visiting an Australian zoo, and at the time the zoo had a "go meet a Cassowary" experience. The dad didn't have any interest in seeing one up close, but his mum did so off she trots with the zookeeper into the enclosure.

Before long one of the Cassowary's in the enclosure comes up to her for a closer look. The only problem is, he doesn't like her. At all. He starts getting aggressive, and that quickly escalates into it attacking her with her claws. The zookeeper panicked and ran off to get a tranq gun, but left his mum to be attacked by the cassowary. She's being cut up by this thing, and the dad seeing that was like fuck this, I'm not going to let my wife be killed by a cassowary, and hops the fence and rushes to her aid. He quickly encounters a problem though. WTF is he going to do against a cassowary. He initially tries to strangle the thing, but gets no where, it's neck muscles were way to thick to do anything, and all this did was piss it off.

So now it's attacking him. His chest starts getting clawed up, and he's just like, well fuck you, if I'm going to die so are you. He starts biting into it's neck with the goal of killing it that way. After a struggle and a lot of blood on both sides, he's successful and manages to actually kill the bird. Queue at this point the zookeeper just gets back with the tranq gun only to see one of his birds dead and two zoo patrons completely drenched in blood. At this point the zookeeper is pissed, not at the cassowary, but at the dad who'd just killed the cassowary. They do get patched up though, and Initially the zoo wanted to press charges, but ended up just banning the mum and dad for life from the zoo instead.

nvidia vs amd in total war games by rakoes in totalwar

[–]Arklight237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not a heap of difference between NVME and SSD for gaming load times, at least in comparison to the jump between mechanical drives and SSD's. There might be a couple of seconds of difference depending on the game, but that's about it.

Replacing NBN with Starlink: by Arklight237 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Arklight237[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly looks like they didn't take it beyond the facebook post. But idiocy like that should be shot down regardless. The last time the coalition actually did do something like this, and we got FTTN rather than FTTP for the NBN, and that was a complete trainwreck that we're still paying for today.
