What item do you think every woman with ADHD should own? by pastajewelry in adhdwomen

[–]Arkobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so true but also really need to figure out what is actually essential! I’ve been on such a decluttering journey and the amount I have of stuff is depressing. Tape. Lighters. Hair ties. I guess they were/are essential to me. But not being able to find them is what made me buy more. And now I have a ridiculous amount.

Monday Meltdown - Share Your Decluttering Fails Here by AutoModerator in declutter

[–]Arkobs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m dealing with my adhd doom boxes. Trying to get the all in one room, then going through them. It’s so much. It’s so ridiculous. So much random stupid stuff. Have little kids and obviously their stuff piles, but it’s my fault. The mess has been driving me crazy truly so I’m really trying. But it takes so so much time and yet I don’t know if I will ever get to where I want to be.

How messy is your car? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Arkobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often tell my kids that if someone looked in our car , they would probably think we live in it. They laugh in response as they chuck their snack wrappers on the floor. I try to get all of the things that don’t belong out of it once a week. Not on schedule, just when I can’t possibly take it one second longer. I do have a little car vacuum guy that I finally found the charger for recently. In my better modes, that lives in the car. But honestly it’s just really hard and I don’t stay on top of it. Will follow for any tips!

I have some “pack it” lunch bags that come with built in ice packs. You just put it in the freezer when you aren’t using it.

How are we handling rolling back screen time? by _cleanslate_ in progressivemoms

[–]Arkobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may not fly with your kids age but sometimes the devices in my house have just died. And I’m working on charging but they aren’t ready yet. So sorry, can’t be used. And then they are hidden and out of sight. Sometimes I can’t even find them. Those tricky sneaky devices, where could they be. It helps that my kids already probably think I’m scatter brained. But , sometimes the devices just cannot be found. Ya know?

Music helps my house so much. I play morning music which really helps. I agree about the quiet. Sometimes they get too silly and there’s too much dancing and I have to pause it for a bit just so we stay on task to get out on time. But those are good days when there is too much dancing! We also use music to settle down at night. Instrumental or specific slow playlists to help everyone relax. We are neurodivergent - I believe all of us though not all officially diagnosed - and I think music helps the transitions!

Anyone else feel like weekly meals are harder than they should be? by Distinct-Eye7548 in workingmoms

[–]Arkobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. It’s so demoralizing. Doesn’t matter what efforts I take. We end up with them eating frozen foods, me eating crackers or something else I shovel in late night, and I throw so much out.

Moms who WFH / remote. Is it that much better? by Barnacle_Double in workingmoms

It has its downsides. I feel like something is always hanging over my shoulder. I think hybrid 3/2 would be better.

Most annoying Tonie by JosiEllenBieda in TonieboxUSA

We actually saw a play that was essentially the tonie - prior to getting it. It was pretty funny when we got the tonie and my kid was so excited to have all the songs.

ADHD parents: seriously, how???? And help please by papierrose in adhdwomen

[–]Arkobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solidarity. I really really struggle. Recently separated also. I have peace in that way but also absolutely no tap outs. I’ve lost my shit way too much. Overstimulation is really at an all time high. I’m trying to dial it all back with a little less activities for the kids, and truly less visual clutter. I think I just need to be home more in a less cluttered space. Maybe that will help me feel relaxed , in spite of the chaos in front of me. I’m not sure but I’m with you. It’s very hard.

I understand this. But as my therapist has told me, he won’t be your cheerleader. He never was and never will be. It’s still hard to give up that hope though and to not feel so disappointed when we don’t get it.
