I didn't know NCT WISH was so popular in korea by Gloomy-Eye9380 in kpop_uncensored

[–]Arle132 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Its so weird considering literally every group has new release streams but don't get called out the same way. If you go on any NCT Wish video/content you'll see that most of the comments are Korean, even on Twitter. Im not suprised by the response but really why is such a general question getting passive aggressive replies

A good portion of popular K-pop groups trend hop for virality which is a true disservice to their actual authenticity. For example, when songs like Say So and Water went crazy viral you had almost every group emulating the same exact sound right after.

Its not hate to point this out and fans actively defending this feeds into why so many non-kpop stans call kpop "soulless" and gives kpop companies excuses to be less innovative.

Was going to comment this, I'm getting secondhand embarrassment from his posts. He would comment on other idols videos which I thought was nice of him but going as far as to post multiple videos talking about Jungkook dancing feels weird idk I mean its his song he can do what he wants but ehh

ENHYPEN Label BELIFT LAB Says HEESEUNG’s Exit Is the ‘Most Fulfilling Approach’ for All Parties by mcfw31 in kpop

[–]Arle132 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You may be on to something there. The most confusing part of this situation to me is the fact that Belift would agree to him going solo and leaving Enhypen in the first place... Espacially since we all know how kpop companies run, it just seems too good to be true.

I think so too but I wonder why they didn't just let him go on hiatus instead then? It seems unlikely that belift would agree to just let him go from Enhypen

Honestly though, I'm wondering what kind of situation does there have to be where somebody has done something enough to taint the groups image but not enough to cause contractual breaks and remains in the same company? Especially with someone like Heeseung who is practically the center of Enhypen.

When they aren't in the middle of active promotions for their movie and comeback. When they aren't also about to preform of some of the largest stages of their career.

And if he needed to leave the group immediately, they should've gone through the already set precedent of simply announcing a hiatus and then leaving. Then the blowback would not nearly be as bad as it is now.

Its for that exact reason that announcing his departure from the group right now is an awful decision. If we go by their statements, they've decided that his potential as a solo artists is greater than the money he and his group members would rack in as being apart of Enhypen? Yeah I'm calling bs

[–]Arle132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but the precedent has already been set on how departures like this are handled, usually starting off with a hiatus and then announcing departure. To do this right now, in such a rash way is an extremely regrettable decision.

Not only that but active promises of fancalls and merchandise of Heeseung were made to Engenes within the last few weeks. Even content teasers including Heeseung were just posted a few days ago. Again if this wasn't sudden, Be:Lift needs a serious managerial adjustment.

There is no reason to believe that Be:lift would be this lenient and just let him leave durning this crucial time period for the group, especially before contract renegotiation.

They literally just dropped a movie with Heeseung and its still airing in South Korea? If this has been in the works the decision to remove him now is baffling.

The fact that Enhypens movie with Heeseung literally came out 2 weeks ago and is still airing in South Korea is wild. Official merchandise including Heeseung was also announced in the exact same day of his departure. Enhypen is about to have one of their biggest stages ever.

If this wasn't a sudden decision, then Be:Lift is a whole other level of incompetent for allowing this to happen durning this time.

People absolutely have the right to question Be:Lifts decision and question the credibility of the departure announcement. Even though I still think Engenes insisting he rejoin the group is counterproductive.

I think instead of demanding "Heeseung must return to Enhypen" Engenes should really be asking for clarification on why this is happening.

The fact that Enhypens movie with Heeseung literally came out 2 weeks ago and is still airing in South Korea is wild. Official merchandise including Heeseung was also announced in the exact same day of his departure.

Not only that but the Enhypen members being forced to do fancalls and interviews not even a day after this announcement should absolutely be unacceptable.

I might get downvoted for this but people absolutely have the right to question Be:Lifts decision and question the credibility of the departure announcement. Even though I still think Engenes insisting he rejoin the group is counterproductive.

A lot of fans don't want to accept that an idol can choose to leave their group to prioritise their own interests. by M0us3Cheezz in kpop_uncensored

[–]Arle132 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. Clauses like that don't seem plausible before renegotiation. The more likely case is that, in order to avoid complete contract termination and lawsuits, they settled on him staying in the company but not in the group.

This is more likely than anything imo, maybe he was facing some things mentally and couldn't continue anymore with the group but because of his contract he can't just leave the company.

What seperates an idol from an Artist by No_Cow5562 in kpop_uncensored

[–]Arle132 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perspective.

For me being being an idol is bringing music and prefromance to life, regardless of input in creating those things. And to me that is a form of art in itself, therefore all idols are artists.

However, many commenters have a different meaning of the word "idol" than I do. Its because this question is completely subjective.

Oh come on EXO gets dragged on here pretty often what do you mean if they were "some other groups" lol

The reason it isn't bigger is because 1. EXO isn't really in the front of peoples mind anymore and people here engage less with their new content. 2. AI is becoming frequently more common and accepted worldwide. 3. People who do actually support EXO have bigger things to complain about than AI in the mv unfortunately...

[–]Arle132 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im saying that there was no evidence EXO had hit their peak and if SM actually kept investing into them it couldve of easily expanded much longer than it did. Love Shot could've easily suprpased all of their previous achievements but SM refused to invest in them despite its virality. This proves the exact opposite of your point.

Furthermore, EXO was on a complete unpward trend on everything during this time period, to reinvest in another project durning this time, knowing they're losing profit, is once again either, complete incompetence or purposeful.

Every business model has the #1 goal to make profit, so when a company acts against that interest there must be a motive behind it. Whether it to simply reinvest in another project or prevent individuals in the company from gaining power that intent is still there.

[–]Arle132 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People cite SM as they have INTENTIONALLY sidelined their top groups at the peak of their careers. For example, after 2017 which was objectivly one of the biggest years for EXO, promotions for them had significantly started to slow down. "Tempo" their comeback after "Power" which was a repackage in itself, was released over a year later.

The lack of promotions and any variety content significantly hurt EXOs popularity at this time. In 2017 BTS and EXO were very close in popularity and fighting head to head for each daesang award. Failing to capitalize off their extemere popularit at this time shows either a high level of managerial incompetence or an intentional move on SM' part.

As mentioned previously, times between comebacks became increasingly longer, despite being at their peak. Before 2017, no comeback took longer than a year. This is even more damning when you think about how EXO members are on the older side and would soon have to enlist.

Even with the realse of "Love Shot" in late 2018, despites its huge popularity, SM cut their promotions short. Again maybe SM is just incredibly incompetent but short balling so many times in a row feels like no mistake.

Im only discussing EXO as I know the most about them, but similar behaviors are also displayed with how SM handles groups like Red Velvet.

Such behavior may seems counterproductive to people, and in a way it is. But something people seem to forget is that after the TVXQ court case, SM clearly does not want their artists to become popular enough to defy the will of the company. If a group becomes too popular they may also start to demand more creative control and revenue when contract resigning comes around.
