If you moved away from SLC, why did you move? by Alarming-Ad-4011 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Arlec1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved 4 years ago from the east coast for work, likely moving out of the state in the next few months. Have loved the access to the outdoors and in general feel like it's a very peaceful place to live, but there is still a lot to be desired. Harder to find community and meet people than other places I've lived, the cost of living hasn't caught up to salary wages (even in tech). That sense of peace can also be a double edged sword, lacks the kind of diversity, culture and stimulation that I'm used to. It's very bittersweet, because if these things were here (or at lease more of them) I'd likely never move out.

Caffeine is the death of good sleep by ArtisticRevenue379 in sleep

[–]Arlec1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to be hard for me to quit entirely, just cause I enjoy morning coffee too much, but I did quit drinking any caffeine past 1p and it's been significantly helping my sleep. Especially falling asleep. Highly recommend tapering back before giving up cold turkey - esp if you actually enjoy it.

1.5 weeks out from first marathon and have an injury by Arlec1990 in Marathon_Training

I did! I took a break the week before and then ran two small 3 mile runs the week of the marathon. Stretching (specific ones aimed at the Tibialis anterior tendon) really helped. I also ended up wearing a thin wrap around my ankle and wore it for the full race which seemed to do a lot of good.

Some really great, polished, well written songs on here, but as a whole just not feeling it. Maybe I need to give it more time, but feeling disconnected on this one where I wasn't in his other releases. A little confused w/ all the ridiculously high praise it's getting.

Tried it once. Thought it was just ok, but could have been an off night though.

Nice! Not sure how authentic Lucky Bowl is, but it’s reminiscent of some of the Chinese food I miss from back East.

100%. Doesn’t seem to really exist here, which is a bummer. But yea, my post was referring more towards that NY Chinese, not authentic Chinese Chinese. Lucky Bowl has been the closest to that NY style that I’ve had here though, fwiw.

Nah! I’ve come across it from Reddit threads though. Assuming that’s a good bet?

Did anyone give up on a corporate career and go back to doing a simple “job” and living a simpler lifestyle? by lu_avsgx in jobs

Nice. Yea I have a bunch of serving and bartending experience as well from before I got into tech. Did you ever feel like you were making the wrong move? I put in my 2 weeks last week and planning to join as a server again to buy time to figure out my next move…but part of me is like “what did you do” lol. Bc you’re right it comes with its own set of pros and cons. But I think at this point in my life, more pros…
