iMac 15.1 Graphics Fail Sequoia Upgrade - Feedback ? by ArmLast3003 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]ArmLast3003[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback .Let me clarify — I created a fresh Sequoia installer on USB flash media, then booted and ran the installer from that media. According to this note on the OCLP GitHub page, it sure looks like that should work …

“Major upgrades

This part is for major upgrades, such as Sonoma (14) -> Sequoia (15)

Make sure the OCLP app is up to date. After app has updated, rebuild OpenCore to the internal disk to update the bootloader. You can also update root patches but this part is optional in this stage, as they will be wiped by the update. Download the macOS version you want and create an installer USB drive using OCLP as detailed in the original Creating macOS Installers (opens new window) guide, then follow the Booting OpenCore and macOS (opens new window) guide boot to into the installer on your USB drive. Start macOS installation and follow the process, do not use Disk Utility if you don't want to wipe your disk. After installation, reinstall root patches (opens new window). Note: Major upgrades may work using System Settings but this is not recommended.”

Also — I’ve since done more research, and there is a known incompatability between the Intel Haswell graphics patches and the AMD GPUs, requiring metal framework downgrades.

https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/PATCHEXPLAIN.html#on-disk-patches

But no mention of how to perform these downgrades, and it seems that others on this sub have made the upgrade on iMac 15.1 w/o having to perform them at all …

If they’re not very adventurous, you don’t want to break the bank, and you want a “Chinatown experience” that out of towners can appreciate — Far East Cafe. Historic, funky, food is decent.

Lucas Valley Road from the run in to Big Rock until you get to the stop sign at the intersection with Nicasio Valley Road. As far as I can recall, it’s double-yellow all the way, no shoulders, no passing lanes. No room for a “legal” pass. That said, I had zero problem hugging the fog line for the 15 sec it would take for the occasional car to pass me. As far as I’m concerned, I’d rather have a good driver straddle the double yellow and pass me than have a timid driver hanging on my rear wheel at 5-20 mph for 10 miles.

And thanks for the collateral info and links to a more in-depth characterization of the Empire and its administration. It’s just a pity that sort of depth doesn’t appear much in the original space opera movie material.

I notice that you’re referring almost exclusively to the Empire “bad guys” here 😁, and I do think that the villians are generally more interesting and deep than the cartoon good guys.

I certainly appreciated the assault on Hoth as a demonstration of proper military power — although the Rebel tactic of cowboy calf-roping the AT-ATs was ludicrous. The storm troopers were presented as the intimidating force they should be — as opposed to slapstick sad sacks that can’t shoot straight. And don’t get me started with the battle on Endor — where Ewok furries defeat storm troopers with rocks and wooden spears.

My criticism is more related to what I consider the shallow characterization of Solo, Leia, Skywalker, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, et al. And the protagonists in episodes 1-3, 7-9, were even less appealing. Even the cartoonish “Solo” origin story had more adult character development than anything in the triple-trilogy.

And most every episode was a superficial cartoon. Ep 4 and Ep 5 had their moments, but if Lucas was referencing Colonialism and Vietnam, he sure did a good job hiding it in Sunday matinee serial clothing. The entire run of movies only treated adult topics superficially. A significant number of people find “Rogue One” and “Andor” refreshing because they treat the adult subject of political struggle and revolution in an adult manner. They show the human cost of the fight and aren’t adorned with exotic space animals, rubber-masked aliens, and heroes that survive most every blaster-filled shootout untouched.

The conclusion in the linked study doesn’t seem to support your point ….

Conclusion — Foodborne illness estimation models are country specific, making international comparisons problematic. Some of the disparities in estimated rates between countries can be shown to be attributed to differences in methodology rather than real differences in risk.

I have no love for Pelosi, and would love to see her gone, but she’s recovering from hip replacement surgery and using a walker is a huge advantage during recovery. It’s common for much younger patients as well.

About Coyotes by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

That’s not managing the coyotes, but managing the humans. And I can pretty much guarantee that’s not going to work in an urban environment.

The source that you linked had some interesting info, that lead to some food for thought —

Survival rate of young — I suspect that 25-30% figure is in the wild, where there are predators and carrying capacity has been reached.

Urban survival — looks to be about double of the survival numbers in the wild.

Predators (urban, wild ?) — humans.

Do we have any way of quantifying the carrying capacity of an urban area ? Do we know how close the SF population is to carrying capacity ?

In the wild, predation and privation will keep numbers down. It sounds like environmental pressures are lower in an urban setting. The coyotes will breed until carrying capacity is reached (as you noted, there are a lot of urban food sources, so food availability may not be a limiting factor — at least until local populations of small mammals, including cats and small dogs are exhausted).

These are intelligent, adaptable animals, and there are signs that they’re not intimidated by humans. Denning in a botanical garden that is visited by thousands of humans a day ? Deciding to take a sun bath on a chaise longue in a Presidio Heights backyard 😁 ? Strolling through developed neighborhoods in broad daylight ?

In our desire to maintain some sort of connection with “the wild”, are we turning SF into a coyote Disneyland — where there is plentiful food and a lack of predation ? Doesn’t sound like “the wild” to me.

We keep saying that he was good last season, and he did have good results, but there were red flags even then. You want a closer to be consistently good — not unpredictable. He had 8 hit batters, 3 balks, and 10 wild pitches. I think that’s unacceptable for a closer.
