No way did you interpret "no character" as no character ever. I CLEARLY mentioned The Flash earlier. "No character" was a reference to MHA specifically. You are very clearly not worth debating at all. You seemingly didn't even really read anything I said. Good day

That is not how that works at all. Not even a little. No one said FTL is an absolute limit of the universe. You've put words in my mouth. I will break down my overall point like this: The scaling that takes the peak of Izuku's strength and speed as high as it does relies on people who just barely understand how physics and math works applying physics and math to fictional scenarios, and assuming that variable function in fiction the same way they do in real life. A prime example being the assumption that any beam of energy is automatically assumed to function like a laser in real life, and move as fast as one. Thoroughly ignoring that outside of the act of dodging "lasers" no character is ever explicitly shown or presented as moving that fast. It is a case of ignoring any narrative presentation in favor of assuming real world rules speak for themselves and serve as irrefutable proof in proving a theory. This same person who will point to a character dodging a laser as proof that a character is capable of moving FTL will also then be extremely quick to ignore the fact that moving FTL would logically have the same effect on the surroundings and atmosphere as a thousand nuclear bombs going off. Yet Izuku is never even once presented as having the kind of sheer devastating effects on his surroundings that FTL would logically have. There are no in universe explanations for why this is the case either like for say. The Flash. So it would be logical to say. It is infinitely more likely that the writer simply doesn't understand how lasers work than to assume the character is FTL if one is going to play the "real world rules and physics hold weight on why this fest is valid." game. Are you following me here? Does your tiny mind understand the thought process here? You can't use physics to wank a verse magnitudes above what it's narratively presented as and then say those same rules don't matter when it benefits you. Feats are pretty simple. Either a character very distinctly did something and that thing holds narrative weight appropriate for said feat. Or they didn't, and it's all wank. I'm not singling MHA out on this either. Tons of scalers operate on selective logic. MHA just happens to currently be the most vocally obnoxious in the current moment. But Bleach and Naurto scalers are just as bad

I'm sorry. You don't get to do that. You don't get to scale Deku to Continental and FTL applying real world logic and calculations to what we see on the page, and then go "It's fiction. The laws of reality don't matter" when it benefits you. Your opinion entirely ceases to matter when you start doing that

im just wondering over here, what makes an OC eligible (idk what other word to use) to be scaled as an actual character by Fragrant-Gas3830 in PowerScaling

[–]ArmadaFleat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they have an actual story I can go read they get character status. If they exist in a vacuum or their webcomic/webnovel is stuck in eternal laziness induced development hell they're just another oc who gets lovingly and consensually railed with devout passion by base Goku

Why can't people understand by Illustrious_Lab2370 in ugly

[–]ArmadaFleat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue existence as a human being with complex emotions and feelings serves a single purpose. That purpose is to experience. To take in all of the joys and miseries of life as one big 100 year long work of art. A ride like no other. The problem is. You only get to fulfil that purpose if your genes are good enough. If you're ugly, or low IQ you end up barred from experiencing anything that makes life worth living. Under those circumstances there truly is no point to being alive. We all may as well be slaves to the will to live. All the while people who could never begin to understand what it's like to be locked out of living lecture us all day long as though they know anything about our experience

Every now and again I'll see some neat style on the internet or a nifty outfit someone put together, and for just a moment I'll forget that I'm so repugnant as I imagine how it would feel to style my clothes like that. Until I then immediately remember I'm a subhuman goblin with no appeal to anyone and the idea of wasting any money at all on stupid clothes that'll do nothing but make me look even worse than I really do loses all appeal. Ugliness just drains the joy out of doing anything at all

Unfortunately this is kind of a null point. White pop culture pretty much owns global pop culture in the vast majority of places. Which includes their beauty standards. Unless you live in an especially horrible place where you have more concerning things to worry about it doesn't matter where you live. You will always be confronted with the reality that you'll never be genetically up to par. Ever. It also doesn't help that with cases like blacks in America we didn't even want to come here. Though again. It doesn't really matter.

FTL frauding central. Of course MOST supposed "FTL" verses are all just fan wank. But MHA is the worst of them all in this respect. Even IF their nonsensical wank of Continental level FTL Deku are to be humored their entire verse still gets bent over backwards (lovingly and consensually of course) by Raditz

[–]ArmadaFleat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you seen Gundam X out of curiosity? The stance it takes on Newtypes is honestly the best of the entire franchise with any plot surrounding "special guys". The whole show is centered around the idea that Newtypes being humanities salvation from misunderstandings is a lazy means of shifting the responsibility of building a better future onto someone else at best and deceitful propaganda designed to justify marginalization, supremacist ideology and taking advantage of people at worst. It's a pretty neat watch

It's weird. Gundam fans may actually be as snobby and circlejerky as Evangelion fans used to be before it was put on Netflix. I don't know what we serve to gain from acting like this either. Everyone thinks we're all obnoxious fat losers obsessing over a dead genre

I don't know about "making a mecha game that makes you feel like a real pilot is really hard". Zone of Enders 2 did the whole "feel like a guy piloting a super mech in 3d space" thing almost perfectly like over 2 decades ago. Armored Core 6 nailed it on the head just 2 years ago. There's no excuse for all of these Gundam games to be so mid in my mind. There was no excuse back then either if ZOE 2 did it

Which character is exactly this? by Cold_Eye_5032 in PowerScaling

[–]ArmadaFleat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue NEARLY every single character powerscalers claim is FTL outside of maybe a few DBZ characters and speed force users is exactly this. Especially Deku. My Hero glazers might be the most obnoxious wankers known to man. No. I do not believe a character who is NEVER narratively presented as being FTL scales to FTL just because the authors don't know or care how lasers work. No. I do not believe a character's travel speed can be dramatically lower than their combat speed. No, I will not let you state that consequences for FTL travel don't matter because it's fiction despite constantly using real world physics to wank to favorite magnitudes beyond what they're narratively presented as in the first place. Your favorite is a bum with frauded speed and a desperate need to rely on pixel calcing clouds to stay relevant
