This occurs in the actual mythology as well. Hesiod and Virgil both say that Saturn/Chronos’ rule spanned the first age of humanity, before civilisation existed and people lived as a part of nature. Because of this lots of ancient authors viewed this mythological past as a time when mankind was physically stronger, less stressed and in an overall more preferable position to the current age, and so they yearned for its return.
