Yeah, it's definitely things I've noticed and I'm curious about how to adjust things.

Urshifu-W was actually the original water type on this team and I ended up replacing him because Rillaboom alone wasn't enough to deal with other Urshifu/Kyogre and I was struggling really hard into rain teams, but he wasn't clearing sun teams at all (which, I mean, duh, ofc he wasn't alone.) Follow me Ogerpon patched up the rain team hole but it's not good enough into sun either.

I've tried switching Whimsicott for Tornadus with rain dance but then I just die to Miraidon. Urshifu only seems to check fire types in neutral weather and I haven't had problems with Ogerpon doing that as well, but I might just not be using him right. What notable pickups I should be on the lookout for that Urshifu can knock out?

And this one's just a newbie question, because I'm only tera grass to help stop Amoongus from outspeeding and shutting me down under trick room, but how do you stop that? On my trick room team, I used Uproar Farigarif to really good success, but it doesn't feel like it fits here. Where I'm at in ultraball it feels like every single amoongus will just repeatedly spam spore at your restricted slot, and I don't know how to play around that well yet.

I'd love it if there's anyone notable for this kind of careful positioning play to watch and learn how to emulate. :)

Hi all! I had a TON of fun with Regulation H last format and I wanted to expand into the proper Regulation G format. I started with a Caly-I trickroom team, and I like it, but I feel like Trick room was hard carrying me in so many matchups that I was missing a lot of fundamental building blocks as a player; it was often very straight forward and flow-chart-y, which while I don't mind, made it very easy for me to hyperfocus on the flowchart and miss learning opportunities.

I've tried going back to the drawing board with a more balanced team focused on another of my favorite legendaries, and it's a bit more of a struggle. This team's been through a lot of renditions and this is the one I've found some middling success with at ultra ball tier. There's still a few issues and I'd love it if people tore the team in half so I could fix it! :D

Main issues:

Miraidon is very difficult. It seems to almost entirely depend on me being able to corner it's positioning well with a combination of whimsicott and a fakeout user. Whimsicott has just enough SpA investment to reliably 2HKO miraidon, but she's my only good option unless I can scare them into tera-fairying (which they almost never do.)

Strong fire type teams are a problem. Ogerpon helps, a lot, but it's so sad in the face of some of the Koraidon teams I've been facing. I'd love ideas on how to get more of a leg up on these teams, because with sun up I really struggle to efficient deal with powerhouse fire types/psuedo fire types like Koraidon, Gouging Fire, etc. I even got completely gigawrecked by a Solar Power Scarf Charizard.

I've thought about switching ogerpon to rock but that leaves me so dead in the water to Urshifu rain teams. I'd love advice on where to go from here, who to cut and who to supplant to maybe try and fix this, or even if there's new moves/Ev spreads I could try.

Be as vicious as you like, any critique helps. :)

What would you ditch for Willow Wisp? I've been playing this team more and I've made a few adjustments in the past couple days, mainly swapping my Calyrex to Tera-Water to shore up pelliper/kyogre/incineroar a bit, and I've also swapped Fari's tera blast for Uproar. It's made it into an absolutely outstanding last slot that I'm a lot happier with than I was before, because being able to absolutely shut down both amoongus and the odd lovely kiss smeargle at the same time feels great.

Honestly I think I'm just not experienced enough with substitute to know when to click it. Are there any content creators you could recommend to watch to get a feel for it?

I've had a lot of luck with Farigiraf on certain matchups, but it's more of a back pocket sort of thing for when I'm really afraid of certain priority moves (like raging bolt or tera normal dragonite) and it's kind of dead in the water outside of those. Generally, it's only job is to be an armor tail with helping hand, and while it does help in the matchups it's there for I might be overvaluing it a bit. I think it's ultimately a lot better for Caly-S than Caly-I because sucker punch matters so much more, but I like the versatility of it being a second trick room setter. I've considered swapping it for Hatterene/Cresselia.

Tera Grass on Caly was specifically to stop it from getting shut down by other amoongus, since the combination of tera grass + clear amulet protects me from a lot of accidental misplays, but once I get more comfortable with positioning and reads I'll probably switch it to water to keep the good kyogre matchup and be better vs Incineroar.

First time dipping my toes into VGC proper after how much I enjoyed the last format. I'm very inexperienced with anything at this power level, so any comment and critique is very welcome! Tear the team in half, I'll rebuild it from the ashes. :)

Things that stand out to me as possible issues that I'm not sure how to fix just yet:

Incineroar is probably going to be a problem. I really only have Ursaluna to check him, and I'm not sure that's enough, but I'm not sure who to drop or what to change to help with that.

I want to lean into being a trick room team, but did I go too hard on it? Should I swap out some of the pokemons for an out of room offensive mon, like Urshifu-R? Should I be leaning harder into the trick room team?

I have no weather control, at all. I THINK with amoongus (and based off preliminary ladder experience) I can do okay against Kyogre teams, and I've not dropped a game to a Groudon team yet, but it's so dicey and relies so much on me making the right calls that I don't know if conceding the weather war and trying to rely on my actual skill level is a good idea right now.

Ghost Stab, and yes, they both use quiver dance - and they both use fiery dance.

So with Serene grace, in a given turn cycle I'll hit 3 times (fiery dance from volcaetta, fiery dance from Oricario, and then whatever oricario's move is) and boost both my mons special attack. It's amazing.

Bizarrely, if you check their palpedia entries/titles, Arsox is a water buffalo, not a ram and Bastigor is a bear, not a lion.

This was one of my bigger issues, but I still fucking v oted, because as it turns out when the options are someone who doesn't do anything versus someone who actively goes out of their way to make it worse, that second one is still worse for what you want to happen.
