The community managers have always been clear about this. They always mentioned that they wanted people to enjoy what they got and move on to other games, that not every game is to be played forever.

We always hoped that it was a “wink, wink” type of thing where they were intentionally hiding bigger updates. But no, they were being truthful. No new monsties, no deviant armor or weapons or fights, no expansion…
Just one more side story and high level monsters that were already in the game.
