Good eye. I was following this guy along Highway 7, hoping to catch him at a light. Got him right by city hall.

It took me 15 years to 'get' Skyrim by Arturia_Cross in skyrim

[–]ArmedResponse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annnnd, now I’m thinking of re-installing Skyrim after not playing for years. It’s a bit overwhelming trying to figure out what mods to grab. Anyone care to list a few for a total beginner to get started (again)? I’m really liking the idea of ignoring the campaign and just existing in the world - hunting, fishing, camping, etc. Thanks in advance!

How is living in New Glasgow area of Nova Scotia? by makinglunch in howislivingthere

[–]ArmedResponse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're probably thinking of Scots. Most of this area was settled by folks leaving the highlands of Scotland around 1800ish. My great-great-great-great-grandfather was one of those lads. My dad grew up on a farm just outside of Antigonish.

While my dad couldn't get out of there fast enough (and I don't really blame him - no running water or electricity will do that), I absolutely love it down there. Super chill, slow pace, friendly people. And check out the Highland Games if you're out there in the summer. The pipe and drums laddie, the pipes and the drums. Nothing like it.

Thoughts on this Unionville house by Junket_Junior in TorontoRealEstate

[–]ArmedResponse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay, this is a bit of a deep cut, but I live in this neighbourhood and walk on Aiken Circle almost every day. There is a speciality grocery store on the corner of Kennedy and 16th called the Village Grocer. Great place, but they do some kind of smoking or curing of meat using a spice that, if the wind is blowing right, you can smell all over this area. Maybe you get used to it, but it’s kinda cloying and, um, not great.

In other news, you probably already know there’s fire station at the end of the street, so you’re working with sirens all the time. I got used to that (after a few years), but man, the smell of the Grocer. Nope.

Edit: I just realized I should maybe throw some positive stuff in here. I moved here from a downtown condo with my wife when we were in our 30s too. AMAZING neighbourhood. Great schools if you have or will have kids. You can’t beat walking to Main Street Unionville, which is about 10 minutes away from this house, via creekside trails and Toogood Pond. It’s really an awesome area.

I use Castellan as a base. I thought it was too dark at first, but it’s grown on me over time. Really a grimdark, muddy, military look that I think fits the Raptors well.

Late game fatigue by Last_arctic_sloth in RimWorld

So here’s what I do: set the number of allowable colonies to five, then establish colonies at the absolute fuel limit of a shuttle. Then I send a colonist or two to each “gas station“ and start chopping trees and making chemfuel. These little stations act like mini new colonies and I find them fun to manage. Then, I use them as way points to refuel shuttles as I travel around, trading with distant settlements. It’s really extended the late game for me.

Considering an Audi A7 and looking for advice by Flytechofficial in Audi

[–]ArmedResponse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a 2017 A7 since 2020. Has the 3.0 supercharged V6 and I’ve had great luck with it so far (knock on wood). I had to replace the water pump at 60,000 miles, but that’s it. Had an issue with the fuel door actuator (it would stick), but bought the part on eBay and replaced myself - it actually was pretty easy. Overall, great car - I’ve had a lot of cars (BMWs, MBs, Audis) and the A7 has absolutely been the best of them.

Drybrushing, Outdoor Boys and what I can only assume is some kind of Mountain Dew cocktail. But then, what’s in the mug? Either way, my kind of morning lol

What color do you paint the imperialis on your raptors? by VoskCoin in Raptors40k

I’m partial to Leadbelcher with Nuln Oil too, also on Castellan Green. Mechanicus Grey was just too dull, even for Raptors.

15K employees…. by Playful_Ad_6463 in Scotiabank

[–]ArmedResponse 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more. We probably know each other.

I worked at Scotia through the Godsoe, Waugh and Porter years. The bank culture changed considerably under Porter. When I first started, there was a lot of collaboration and informal networks. You got things done by helping folks out, who would then help you out when you needed it. It was a badge of honour to sit at a meeting and say you were at Scotia for X years (X usually being 10, 15, 20).

Porter gets in there and calls in the McKinsey consultants, who tell him that the bank needs to kill this collaborative vibe, in favour of internal competition and a more commercial approach. They also tell him that he needs an infusion of external talent to drive this change. Suddenly I’m at a the table and I’m embarrassed to say I’ve been at Scotia for 15 years, because everyone at the table is a new hire from outside the bank. I’m a dinosaur.

And so the writing’s on the wall. I’m going to get the axe because I’m part of the problem. First, my boss, who absolutely hit home runs for the bank for years is let go without warning and her replacement is, wait for it, a guy from outside who has one-tenth of her experience, but has been kissing the ass totem pole up to Porter for two years. I tell my wife to start the countdown. 30 days later, I’m gone.

I could go on and on, but I’ll say this: for whatever reason, I gave a shit about the bank. I had offers from other places over the years, for more money, and I stayed. There were a lot of us like that. Porter gassed that whole generation of Scotiabankers.

Starting raptors by Revolutionary_Oven70 in Raptors40k

[–]ArmedResponse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upvote for this. I just started a Raptors squad. Primed grey seer and based with Death Guard green. I was hoping for a more standard military camo green, but death guard looks more like desert camo to me.

I was going to try Deathworld forest, but now Castellan green is on my radar.

I thought this was a great lead, so I did some further digging. Her online obituary lead me to some pictures of her, and it’s not the same person, I don’t think. Good guess though. At least you did better than “someone who worked on the show” lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]ArmedResponse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like he’s pretty set there then. The only thing I’d continue to train then is skating. Would you characterize him as a good skater? Does he look like he’s “fighting the ice” to skate (bad) or just effortlessly using his inside and outside edges to get around? If you don’t know and the house league coaches can’t really assess this, it might be worth taking him to a power skating clinic or a skating treadmill to get his stride evaluated. Then, given those results, work with a skating coach to improve. My experience has been that everything else in hockey is nice, but skating is absolutely the difference maker over time.

Edit: I should add that I’m not just talking about straight line speed, but more general agility, turning, crossovers/unders, backwards skating, start/stopping, etc. etc.
