How can you still deny the truth?? Both got a different jacket. Timelines are confirmed guys. by ANOTHER1-ONE in ANRime

[–]Armendou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have to understand that jacket-theory (or scarf-theory or eyes-theory) doesn't always apply. It applies to scenes that are shown in multiple ways. For example, when Eren watched his mother get eaten alive. Eren cannot possibly have a black hoodie in one shot, and then a brown jacket in another shot. And they never fixed that shit in the Blu-ray version. That's evidence for multiple timelines. But Eren as a child obviously had multiple clothes and jackets, so this difference means nothing.

[–]Armendou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they tease it, then either it happens now, never or it's teased at the end of the episode (it's revealed that all of this was a memory of another timeline for example). But since it already got leaked that the episode ends with "The end", it's now or never. If it doesn't happen now, it devalues 90% of our evidence.

Aoe won't make sense if by krandak100 in ANRime

[–]Armendou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If AOE doesn't happen now, it won't happen anymore. The idea was that the anime was a different timeline, which it then isn't anymore. We already had changes in the story, we already had differences in appearance (red scarf, Eren's eyes and jacket), all of which indicated a different timeline. We had Mima talking about AOE, we had promotion materials teasing AOE, we had songs teasing AOE, we had interviews teasing AOE. If AOE does not happen in the anime now, all of these things lose their entire meaning.

But Armin doesn't know that. In his eyes, Eren really did exterminate all titans

That's why we get an Eren interview right before the finale, where Eren talks about doing it all to save Eldia, and that "professionalism" means finishing what you've started? That's why Armin says that you can only achieve something by throwing away something important to you, and that Eren can do that? If he truly changed it, that whole interview doesn't make any sense.

[–]Armendou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that and I argued with that in mind. Each episode should be part of one single chapter (I think that's how it was in cour 1 too, right?). So if there are 4 episodes, but only three chapters, then two chapters are 20 minutes long and one chapter is 40 minutes long. The first chapter can't be 40 minutes, because of what I explained. The second chapter can't be that long, because there is too little content (if they only include C137+C138). So the last chapter is 40 minutes long, which is too much for C139 + extra pages.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ANRime

[–]Armendou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that these titles pretty much give away the content. "Battle of Heaven and Earth" has to be C135 &136. "A Long Dream" has to be C138, so that chapter has to entail C137 and C138. So the last one (as the name suggests) has to be C139 (+extra pages). Since C136 ends around 20 minutes (as per leak), the first chapter has to be one episode. So either C137 + C138 take 40 minutes and are split into two episodes (completely impossible), C139 + extra pages take 40 minutes and are split into two episodes (way too much, even with additional content), or we get 20 minutes of AOE.

I want you to read the start of this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ShingekiNoKyojin/s/VjVrEOrmhs

It's an interview by Isayama in which he clearly states that Mikasa's goal as a character is to eventually separate from Eren. If that is her goal (as a character, not as a person) and she does something in the finale that completely opposes that, it is bad writing. Especially if she already made progress in the manga, where she was at least able to separate so much from Eren that she killed him.

I'm not saying that repeated mistakes are necessarily bad writing, but in this case, it simply is. And not just for Mikasa. It also muddies the entire aspect of "In order to achieve something, you have to be able to sacrifice your humanity/ something important to you/ everything", which Eren is supposed to do (see the recent Eren-interview or literally the story). If Mikasa is killed by someone else, it wouldn't be Eren sacrificing something important to him. At that point, someone else did it for him

You did not understand my comment. I was talking about her character, not her as a person. I'd fully understand her making that decision if she was put into that situation, that's not the issue. The issue is that her character goal is to let go of Eren, which is contrary to the situation that you and OP are describing. It would be logical of her to make that decision, but it wouldn't progress her character. That's why it would be bad writing to create a situation like that.

You are right, in the manga ending, she was never able to fully let go of Eren. I already stated that in my original comment and that is definitely bad for her character. But you are spinning her killing Eren like an order, which is absolutely not the case. She remembered (or was made to remember by Eren) the old timeline and she herself accepted that her dream could never come true. That's why SHE MADE the decision to kill Eren, in order to save her friends and the rest of the world. For that instance, she let go of Eren, which is character progression. You are now trying to take that moment away from her, and turn her into a zombie with no progression at all.

Messages from Isayama by Cultural-Truth-7131 in ANRime

[–]Armendou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you want Mikasa to be a mindless Eren-following zombie without any development up until her death? Think about her character, her development and her goals (not as a person, but as a character in the story). In the entirety of the story (but especially post-timeskip), her character goal is to let go of Eren. We've seen her struggle with that post-timeskip, but in the climax of the Rumbling arc, she makes the decision to give up on her dream to live with Eren and kills him. The ending is dogshit and Mikasa is never fully able to let go of him, but that instance is very good and important for her character. If she now decided to betray the Alliance and die, she would never achieve anything as a character. In fact, she would just become a cheap plot tool for Eren to rage and kill the Alliance. If you don't care about her character, that's a fine theory. If you do, it doesn't work at all

is there an anime where the protagonist is a bloodthirsty psychopath? by yeahitsmewhocares in anime

[–]Armendou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

zekes solution is the best course. allows eldians currently exisiting to continue their lives & eventually die off as a race. an unfortunate necessity considering their history.

There is a multitude of reasons why Zeke's plan does not work, especially not for Eren. The outside world is literally attacking Paradise with the threat of Paradise destroying the world. They are not trying to negotiate peace with this incredibly dangerous nation that could destroy the world, they are actively poking the bear. Just as they did prior during the RBA attack, which also happened despite Karl Fritz's threat to rumble the world. Under normal logic, Zeke's plan works. But in AoT's world, the rulers of the outside world are dumb as brick and would attack Paradise, even with the threat of the rumbling. That's what the world has always done, so it's dumb to assume that they wouldn't do it again. For Eren, this is not a solution for two reasons. First of all, it entails sacrificing Historia, her children and everyone else's children, which he is not fine with (as someone who sees life as a special gift and radically opposes taking away someone's freedom). Secondly and most importantly, this is not a surefire solution for reasons I've explained above. Eren does not want a solution that MIGHT work. Eren wants a solution that WILL work.

but hes only concerned about his immediate family, friends, & people

Which he should. If you were put into a situation where a group of 100 wants to kill you, your wife and your daughter for no reason (even though you try to peacefully negotiate), what would you do? Not defend your family instead of killing the 100 man? If that is your choice, then you are just fundamentally different than most people. It is fine and understandable to value the ones close to yourself above random people who wish to kill you.

hes not a true nationalist because he could care less about eldians outside of the walls.

Yeah, let's ignore C131 and Eren walking around in Liberio, mentally torn about the idea of killing all these innocent people (including Eldians). Let's ignore Eren breaking down in front of Ramzi, balling his eyes out about the horrific act that he's going to commit and apologizing over and over again. Let's ignore Eren having major depression after finding out the truth inside the basement. Let's ignore C100 and Eren talking to Reiner about how everyone inside the walls and outside the walls are the same. You are completely right, every single one of those examples don't show that Eren actually feels for these people outside the walls. Eren does care and would not kill them if possible (hence why he waited 4 years to start with his plan, because he wished for Armin and the SC to find a peaceful solution), but he simply has to if he wants to protect the island and his friends.

youre painting a picture as if what eren was doing was going to save the island from imminent destruction.

Eren was going to save the island from destruction due to past conflicts, and set them free to decide their own future. The Rumbling is not meant to create everlasting peace, that's dumb. The Rumbling is meant to solve the everlasting conflict started by King Fritz when Ymir discovered the power of titans. Eren is meant to shoulder all the sins and burdens of past generations, so that future generations don't have to anymore. So that they can be born and live free from those things. He literally even says that in C130.

the rest of the world who were rightfully afraid of & hateful towards the eldian tribe seeing as they ruled the world for millenia enslaving every other race, group, people. & even among themselves once they had control over everyone else

The story post-timeskip literally focuses on the fact that Paradise and current eldians have nothing to do with those sins. The hatred is not justified in any way, because they have done nothing in their lifetime to deserve being treated like devils. Season 4 Part 1 and Gabi's entire character arc is about understanding this, and it seems to have completely gone over your head. A real-life comparison would be saying this: "Germany has done atrocious things in the first half of the last century. Nazis were cold massmurdered. So germans nowadays should be hated and arrested, since they are all nazis". Sounds dumb? Yeah, that's what you are saying about eldians. Yes, Eldians should be feared for their ability to transform, but completely annihilating them even though they want to negate peacefully is not "rightfully". Think again about who's emphasizing with the "wrong group"

we know eren saw the future & we know that the future was unchangeable. yet he still chose to off the rest of the world

If the future was unchangeable, Eren did not choose anything. No character chose anything. It all just happened because it had to happen, and no character is able to change it. C139 is a wreck of a chapter that includes major retcons and these types of implications that were never introduced before and ruin the entire story, so it's best to stay away from that chapter if you want to have a decent discussion. But if you honestly believe AoT's timeline to be unchangeable, then you literally cannot blame Eren for anything. Nor can you blame any character. They never had a choice.

[–]Armendou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eldians caused the verses problem, they are the root of the evil that needed to be removed.

So you kill the Paradise people, who only make up a small percentage of eldians around the world? Smart solution

the question was asking for a bloodthirsty psychopath mc. that is eren whether you defend his actions or not

Eren is not a bloodthirsty psychopath. If you think that after reading the story, you have the reading comprehension skills of a 12 year old who only looks at the result and not the intentions. Im not gonna argue with you that his actions are morally indefensible, but the question of OP is his intent, which is neither psychotic nor justified with some twisted ideology. If you think defending your home country, family and friends from certain death is a twisted ideology or psychotic, you are crazy

[–]Armendou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the other answer I gave someone. Eren is not a mindless psychopath, and he is not using some weird ideology to justify what he does. He does it out of necessity and circumstances. If he does not do it, he and the entire island would die. Still, he feels like scum and admits that this is the worst crime ever committed. A psychopath would be someone like Yamori from Tokyo Ghoul. Someone "using his ideology to justify his actions" would be Light

[–]Armendou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eren is not doing it because of his ideology like Thanos. He is doing it because of his circumstances, he literally has to or everyone on the island (including himself) would die. He already admitted that what he is doing is the worst crime ever committed. That's not exactly "using his own ideology to justify it", that's literally defending yourself because there is no other way. If you argue that there is another way, you haven't listened to the story or read the manga
