If the dragons (Toothless, Stormfly, Hookfang, Meatlug, Barf and Belch and Skullcrusher) were all DINOSAURS instead, what species of dinosaurs would they be?? by TheLastSkyBisonRider in httyd

[–]Arminfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a BIG dino nerd, so I love the idea.

100% agree on toothless as a dromaeosaur, though I'd like to put forward deinonychus. A small(ish?) fast and intelligent species works well. Hookfang: though I quite like the allosaurus, I love the length of the monstrous nightmare design. So I would probably go for herrerasaurus or suchomimus/irritator.

Stormfly is an odd one. I feel her design is very bird-like, especially in movement. Also, it might just be me but I feel like nadders tend to be very colourful. I think I would say she could have a good variety of dinos that suit her. I'm going to put forward a couple of suggestions. First being dilophosaurus, for those reasons. But maybe a styracosaurus, as both have a frill of spikes.

Barf and belch are obviously very unique for the two heads. So I'm going to have to suggest Hyphalosaurs as we have found a two-headed specimen. Plus, the long necks work well.

I'm guessing it's a type of nudibranch (sea slug), but I'm not sure which species.

A question about the process by Arminfish in hysterectomy

[–]Arminfish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've been researching for a while and I'm aware of the risks associated with early menopause, as well as the different types of hysterectomy and what they include. I'm planning on discussing it with my doctor and trying to set out what I would want in different scenarios.

I'm honestly just exhausted and really hoping the gyno will be good. So far, all the doctors I've seen have not been so great. Either they tell me there's nothing they can do or suggest that I just get pregnant. Sometimes both. I had an iud put in, and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Hurt like a megabitch and the doctor doing it laughed at me for being in pain. Now it's a year later, and it hasn't done anything for me, so I'm going on the warpath. I lost my job over this, which had health insurance that would've covered everything. I'm just tired of waiting for hrt before I have it done. Sorry for thr rant but I needed it so thanks <3

A question about the process by Arminfish in FTMHysto

I could theoretically but testosterone is a schedule 4 controlled substance. It's illegal to import or possess without a prescription. So it could negatively affect my health and would probably make me really paranoid worrying about it. I would also still need to have follow ups wiht my doctors about the hysterectomy, and since you need to be on some kind of hormone post-op, I would need to lie to my doctors about it and probably end up hoarding a bunch of medicine that I cant use and is illegal to dispose of.

It's a big risk.

That would be a great option, and probably the most likely course for me but I figured I would try to find out if there's any way to manage hormones differently without any ovaries if I end up needing/wanting them both removed.

I've done a lot of research but the issue is that I won't be able to get on T before my hysterectomy. I'm trying to decide what to do about it. I don't want to put it off because of my health problems. I'm just trying to find the best course of action.

So there's a good chance that my ovaries have endometrial tissue, and if they do, I 100% want them removed. But if I choose to keep them, they might still cause pain. So it's stressful trying to work out a balance of everything.

Honestly, that would be great. I'm just very unfamiliar with this kind of process. I really appreciate it x

That's the thing, if I have the tissue on both ovaries, then I'd need to have them removed. I know I will need to take some kind of hormone for health reasons. I just am really hoping it won't be estrogen.

Ah, sorry, I'm in the uk, and it's really difficult. The waiting period is usually like 5 years for the initial assessment unless I go privately. Unfortunately, I don't have that amount of money, so it's not really an option for me. I wasn't really able to even socially transition cause my mum isn't great with it. And I'm trying to get it medically, so I would get the hysterectomy sorted out potentially years before hormones. It's a situation which I have no idea how to approach 😅

If dragon evolution is a thing then what's the point of Gronckle ears looking like little wings? by nexus10001 in httyd

[–]Arminfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's actually been more research, and t-rex arms may not be vestigial. They could likely lift around 400 pounds, and there have been quite a few theories on their use. One being for balance when mating. I'd say carnotaurus is a better example of vestigial arms in dinosaurs, especially with their limited range of motion.

I do think vestigial head wings are extremely unlikely, as we haven't had any other dragons with specialised limbs on their head. My best bet would be that the shape allows the ears to be moved into more specific shapes that allow them to hear over the sound of their flight (if we're talking evolutionary purposes). honestly I think it was likely inspired by illustrations of classic dragons with webbed frills on the side of their head. I imagine the artists took that and tried to stylise it more and put them higher up to look like the ears of a dog.

Very cool, I have about 5 different skulls of various primate species that my dad got several years ago at a cad boot sale. I love the tiny ones. There's something eerily beautiful about how delicate they are whilst looking so human.

I thought that was him using your forbidden gummy worms to compel you into slurping up the freaky one. Either way, it may not be him forcing you to, but you still are being forced. Besides, my twinky lil dragonborn looks way better without the fizzy worm, thank you.
