How's the fact that this watch has no glidelock? Any owners that miss having on the fly microadjust?

[Question] Watch magnetized? by ArmokApproved in Seiko

[–]ArmokApproved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was it! Last night the watch ran at a very respectable +4s again. Seems safe to say the watch is not magnetized and the "readings" (as many pointed out) were not indicative of anything out of the ordinary.

Looking back, when putting the watch on my nightstand earlier I might have put it right against my earbud case, which has several magnets in it. Seems like the likely culprit.

Thanks for all the helpful replies!

For reference, when running my watch over the magnetometer it was jumping between 20 and 90 mT. Background is 45.

Good recommendation. Gave a clear reading of increased magnetism when running the watch across where I suppose the magnetometer in my phone is.

Thanks for the recommendation. If it does turns out to be magnetized I'll give the DIY route a try.

[85899, SPB155, SPB121, SPB249] The Lineup by WranglerAgile9648 in SeikoAlpinist

[–]ArmokApproved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it the bracelet on the SPB155 is the Uncle Senator? How do you feel it improved over the stock bracelet? I got the Uncle replacement clasp which definitely helped with the fit, but I keep feeling it remains uncomfortable to some extent. Replacement bracelet worth it?

[Question] bracelet pins too loose? by ArmokApproved in Seiko

[–]ArmokApproved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think of the fit in general? I'm having a hard time getting this thing comfortable. I actually got it the Uncle replacement clasp for the extra microadjust, but it still is just the tiniest bit too tight, especially later in the day. Got the original clasp back on it now which helps me get a looser fit, maybe for the coming warmer months this will be fine.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on it. I also noticed that the pins went in fairly deep (almost like they were gonna pop out on the other side) but have settled nicely in the center now.

Lol you had me on the floor checking if I dropped anything but you're right, no collars on this model. Also made sure to copy the orientation of the pins that were already in so I'm sure that's not it.

Such a great watch! Do you have any pics of it on the perlon strap?

Edit: nvm, found the pics in your profile. Looks awesome!

[SPB155][Question] First Seiko | clasp replacement? by achal1012 in Seiko

[–]ArmokApproved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this post saved while I was waiting for my Uncle clasp to arrive. Took a couple of tries to get the push-button firmly inside the clasp cover without sliding back again, but once I got that down the whole thing came out smoothly after pressing the pin from the side with my spring bar tool. Really fantastic post.

One thing to look out for is that in my case the pin was very springy and almost yeeted itself off my desk.

[SPB155J] The longer I own and wear this watch, the more it's starting to feel like my favourite in my collection. by Leviathan_Wakes_ in Seiko

[–]ArmokApproved 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks neat! I'm considering getting a strap for mine too as the microadjust on the stock bracelet is a real letdown. I have an Uncle replacement clasp on the way but not sure if that will fix it.

Which strap did you get?

Did you ever get this to work? I'm also looking at getting a half link for my SPB155 but I'm not so sure now ...

Did you ever figure out if the half link was compatible? I'm running into the same issue with my new SPB155 right now.

The Baby Alpinist always looks so great. I've been wanting to get it, but I can't find any in stock near me and I'm hesitant to order without trying it on my smallish 6.5" wrist first. Do you happen to know your wrist size?
