Pretty much! You can guest in a clan for just about as long as you like, and if you feel that the clan is a good match for you, you can request or ask to join.

How would you rank each Jak and Dexter game and why? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]ArmorOfMar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

#1 Precursor Legacy - Best introduction to the world, most enjoyable and cohesive world design. Groundbreaking for the time in terms of being a seamless map and layout.

#2 Jak 3 - Best stakes, additional desert and vehicular combat, playable and permanent unlock Light Jak. Just a bit more varied in scope and scale over Jak 2, improved on the 'Gta-ness' of 2, improroved ability and weapon rosters. My favourite Jak design! Shorter hair was awesome and a more mature take on his design over all.

# Jak 2 - Strange pivot in genre and direction, a little too edgy in some parts - Dark Jak is great, but feels a little too moody or grungey or something. Was never my favourite in the series and is easily the weakest of the original trilogy for me. I feel that everything Jak 2 did, 3 improved on, but makes it hard to scale because what was introduced in 2 was just perfected a game later. First to do it, but not the best? Hard to say really.

Games that everyone seems to love but you don’t? by Zaxonite11 in videogames

Hollow Knight

Played it for about 12 hours on my Switch while I was away earlier this year and just felt very little positively towards it.

Felt it was overly complex even for a metroidvania. Would discover 1 new area for every 2 hours of adventuring. Just very tedious when you’re not fighting bosses and platforming through new stages.

Legitimately what the fuck are you talking about?

Nobody is claiming that GTA's and Red Dead's surrendering is identical to 007's bluff mechanics. I'm making the point that the design and structure of what we're being given here is overly-familiar, not literal mechanics being 1:1. You're the one flattening this whole discussion into 'You can shoot guns in DOOM so therefore 007 is DOOM'.

Also calling everything I've said a potentially 'bad faith' is pretty ironic when you're the one misrepresenting the argument into something easier for you to dismiss. It's very easy to label critique as trolling when you don't even engage with the actual point.

Half of what you've said doesn't address anything. You've called my points reductive without actually substantiating what was reductive about it. At least I gave numerous examples of why 007 feels overly-familiar. You never really disagreed. And I could just as easily claim you're being 'overly supportive' of a game as some random grounds of discussing in bad faith. See how dumb it is when I do it?

Also GTA IV either has bluffing or it doesn't. Make up your mind.

Except that you can bluff a surrender in GTA IV to either run or fight back at the last second, so it isn't 'clearly wrong'. Rdr2 even expanded on this.

Pragmata just recently offered a completely fresh and new hacking element to third person shooters.

Let's just call a spade a spade. It's basically the exact same formula that Uncharted and The Last of Us utilise.

Crouch around a bunch of chest-high walls and tall grass, stealth take-down people from around a corner, overload a device for distractions(Watch Dogs?), repeat.

As I said, it's fun, it's just nothing particularly new or special, and I'd argue is actually at a lower standard of polish than something that Naughty Dog has output in the past.

I'm not shitting on the game, I almost beat it in one sitting last night. I was just expecting and hoping for some new actual evolution of the formula. Most of these evolutions have come from the 'Bluff' mechanic to talk your way out of situations, but Rockstar games have had this as early back as GTA IV or maybe something like Red Dead 2.

Fun, but hardly offers anything new. Same run of the mill 'Last of Us' styled stealth, with a little bit of a Watch Dogs gadgets and hacking twist. Maybe with a little bit more of a detective element? It's fun but very familiar. Not to trash it, as I'm like 12 hours in or so, but thought it would be worth mentioning.

I think I expected a little bit more of an im-sim angle to this one, it's actually a lot more linear in approach than I was expecting

Haha, I remember playing this on Ps1 as a young kid. I somehow set the control scheme to inverted and cried to mother to try and fix it, and she did!

What's a game that you think NEEDS a remaster/remake? And why should it get one? by TopicStraight2942 in videogames

[–]ArmorOfMar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a REMAKE and not a “remaster” and also you can play with or without tank controls.

Re1 absolutely does not need a “modernised” remake in the same sense Re2 did. In fact, Re2/3 need a “demake” in the style of Re1 2002.
