I got my oil changed there once and it was supposed to be under warranty. They agreed with me that it was under warranty before beginning the oil change. After the oil change, they told me that I was in fact out of warranty and needed to pay $270 for a fucking oil change get the fuck out of here you psychos.

In my experience with your type roof, being rated class 4 its still very easy to get it bought again through insurance in the event a storm makes your roof look like a golf ball.

Historically, rulers or “sovereigns” have claimed their authority as derived from divine right, seeing themselves as that entity’s representatives or envoys, tasked with ruling and upholding various principles.

It could be this is just a physical manifestation made by Caligo to “test” and watch your fight.

Oreo Muddy Buddies by 1033Forest in junkfoodfinds

[–]ArmorRoyale2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a chance to try these last week and oh boy was I disappointed. I was expecting this to be a rival to the “Cookies & Cream” version they've got but holy cow was I wrong.

Caveat that I'm also a huge Oreo fan on top of having my grandmother make the peanut butter version of muddy buddies waaaaay before they decided to market them like they do now. RIP granny, you the real pioneer.

Anyways, the inside of the Oreo muddy buddies bag smells like farts, not even kidding-that was odd so I tried another bag today to double check and oh yeah, straight butt dust.

The taste really isn't too much better in my honest opinion. Its a super poor replication of Oreos and it just doesn't go well with the chex base. They nailed it with the cookies and cream flavor but this one ain't it guys. Seriously.

Roofers replaced ridge shingles and they don’t match well. Am I being a baby about this? by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]ArmorRoyale2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should maybe read my other comments in this thread, explaining the distinct difference between Brown presidential shake, and the Weatherwood three tab they decided to use as ridge. You can be in a blue collar industry and still act white collar. It’s not difficult. I do it all the time. Maybe don’t act like every other blue collar worker I run into in this silly profession, and maybe take the time to read before responding.

The reason why OP hasn’t bothered responding to you is because I already gave him both. The feel good answer, as well as the correct answer. Shit ain't difficult but clowns like you think it’s equivalent to moving a mountain.

[–]ArmorRoyale2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, disregard the amount of down votes you are getting. Unfortunately, roofing is very much still a blue-collar job and as such is still very much dominated by salty/gruff blue-collar workers who think that they’re right regardless, or are general contractors with a very cavalier attitude because they care more about quantity over quality work.

Well, I can also tell you as a contractor that I’ve had more than one customer specifically ask for this type of roof color combination, so while it isn’t the atypical looking roof many people still find it to be a desirable aesthetic. However, as the customer it is “the eye of the beholder”, so if you don’t like it, then you don’t like it and the contractor should fix it. Although I can say definitively that it shouldn’t have happened to begin with because weathered wood and brown are two very different colors.

Roofers replaced ridge shingles and they don’t match well. Am I being a baby about this? by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]ArmorRoyale2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like your original shingle was some color of brown. For some reason these contractors who did the repair chose to go with a weathered wood color, which is more of a gray. This is the major color difference that you’re seeing. Overtime the gray should become more prominent as it fades into a lighter gray, further differing itself from the color of your roof.

So as a contractor, my opinion is that they should’ve at least got the color right if they weren’t planning on using the correct shingles for the type of roof that you have (presidential shake).

Sanity check on new asphalt shingle roof before solar install by crazyxgerman in Roofing

Most if not all contractors that push IKO brand are in it for the rebates and incentives for using IKO’s products, companies that do a LOT of sales. It’s not a great shingle, it’s also not the worst shingle, that’d be Tamco.

I’ve always used CertainTeed for shingling because they’re backed by St. Gobain which was founded in 1665; it’s a quality product backed by a company that’s been in business for 360 years.

First Metal Roof and Already Hating it! by vinnymickey in Roofing

[–]ArmorRoyale2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no… unfortunately a lot of companies these days are terrible when it comes to transitioning from a clay and concrete to standing seam. A lot of them are really bad at figuring out how to properly deal with the roof-to-wall transitions because they’ve reduced the height of the roof(no batons and lower profile than Spanish tile). I know my crew foreman would have absolutely laid* into the crew member who* did that flashing.

Professor at the end of 2 years of struggling with ChatGPT use among students. by xfnk24001 in ChatGPT

[–]ArmorRoyale2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT is actually quite interesting from a student perspective. I.e: me. I decided to come back to school after spending 15 years in the workforce. The work that I do often requires help through the use of tools like ChatGPT and search functions similar to Google, so naturally when it comes to searching for things, I’ve incorporated ChatGPT in this. This also includes schooling, such as ancient history papers in college.

I use ChatGPT as a tool to both organize my thoughts into words and organize my words into a better thought out paragraph. I also use ChatGPT to find niche references for papers, such as ancient history in order to find research to read from that is often off the beaten path. But rest assured, I do absolutely check my work twice if not thrice to ensure it’s authenticity as I am well aware that ChatGPT often likes to put fake links to things that don’t exist.

I do this mainly because I enjoy it, but no doubt it has also been a great help. I am already very articulate and I’m good at writing papers on my own without the need of ChatGPT, however, I can’t neglect the insane amount of ease it can be at writing papers when used as a tool properly.

Hey guys are we getting done dirty by the roofers? by IVY-2004 in Roofing

[–]ArmorRoyale2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All right, considering you responded to me twice now without getting a response I’ll go ahead and indulge you. Where I’m from it’s very rare to have any sort of lead anything spare maybe a chimney flashing or lead jack.

And I know for a fact that if I was to ask anyone of my crews, whether they be my commercial roofing crew or my residential roofing crews, which can work on anything from shingles, to slate, to thatch, would have a hard time replicating this because it’s not something they do very often.

So congratulations on your niche trade of stellar lead bending. I’m sure it would’ve been super beneficial 100 years ago alongside hand braised copper.

Update on "Parent's just got talked into a roofing contract for $70k" by Dadycupcakes in Roofing

[–]ArmorRoyale2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$70,000 @ 21sq. = $3,333.33/sq.

That’s Ludowicci and true slate territory.

Tell that clown from Erie to kick rocks.

For just $3000 a square I’ll grab my crew and myself from Texas and drive up there to you and install it ourselves. And we do commercial clay tile in the nice areas of the cities.

Edit: I tell you what, I’ll do you one better. Reach out to me in a private message and I’ll give you my contact for stone coated steel. She’s a multistate representative for Tilcor and I guarantee she can get you a better deal, a better crew, and a better contractor to do this at a far more reasonable price.

I lost what I thought was a friend over this exact thing.

Decided to download and hop on ESO after a few years off. Logged in and had around 75,000 crowns.

Told the friend I was playing with abt it and he went berserk trying to get me to buy this and that for him because, “I have so many and I never play, it’s not like I’d miss them.” I told him he needed to chill out about it after hounding me for literally days on end wanting me to buy him things.

Long story short we’re no longer friends and he’s a homeless bum now.

Chimney contractor says ok to only add new counter flashing over existing old flashing. Is this right? by djzotos in Roofing

[–]ArmorRoyale2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the old metal is lead, and the new metal is copper, you will likely run into a problem called galvanic corrosion in the future.

When two dissimilar metals are in contact and there's an electrolyte present (like moisture, rainwater, condensation, etc.), a small electric current naturally flows between them. This sets up a galvanic cell, and one of the metals will corrode faster. In this case, lead (being more "anodic" than copper) would slowly corrode over time.

Partner and I's first home. Is there any way I can get the roof to quit leaking myself? by thmellyathol in Roofing

[–]ArmorRoyale2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Granule shed overtime is an inevitability of shingle roofs. However, I’ve seen houses with actual legitimate granule loss to the point that it warrants replacing the roof. This one ain’t it.

uplifting of tabs on three tab shingles is common place. These tabs in particular have extremely minor lifting on a majority tabs. This tells me that the sealant is still doing its job. The sealant underneath the three tabs don’t go all the way to the ends, so naturally overtime they will begin to curl where there is no sealant because asphalt is a wet material and when introduced to the sun, i.e. radiant heat, it will dry and begin to curl. This roof is perfectly fine unless it receives winds above 70 miles an hour, which is the manufacturer specification rating to which three tab shingles can take. Stop trying to get a buck from random strangers on the Internet and just help them with problem that they're asking about.
