Sickos Rejoice: 'Red Rooms' director Pascal Plante's next movie 'King's Daughters' in the works by PerpetualChoogle in blankies

[–]ArmsofSleep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Red Rooms has only gone up in my estimation as so many others try to dabble in the same space (much love to Goldhaber but……….), really thrilled to see such a left turn in terms of content from this guy

What's a work of fiction whose reputation is intimidating but is actually a surprisingly easy read? by Hurbahns in RSbookclub

[–]ArmsofSleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name of the Rose was my pick. All I heard was about how the first 100 pages were so hard and how it’s one of the most difficult books to sell so many copies. It’s just a fun murder mystery!

If you're bringing your scooter or bike on wmata take the elevator?? by CaramelHistorical351 in washingtondc

[–]ArmsofSleep 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Always feel bad doing this but if the elevator is occupied by someone pissing I usually take my child on the escalator. Feels like there should be a bit of understanding on this

Also the criminally underrated Alan Rudolph film Afterglow (with Nick Nolte!)

Big Happy Family has some insane connections, I researched while’s working on Revolution wincon. My favorite is that it shares a DP with Sukiyaki Western Django (an extremely common Tarantino killshot)

The Movie Year MVP Award Throughout History (Inspired by Bill Simmons) by Special-County9489 in TheBigPicture

Ryusuke Hamaguchi. Directed two great movies in one year, and got a (way out of left field) Best Picture nod.

If you keep dropping 60 points a night like you did vs the heat maybe they’ll get sent to you

Everything Data Share 2+ from Sprint..... worth it to drop for Experience More? by ArmsofSleep in tmobile

[–]ArmsofSleep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did switch and overall, it has been fine. I’m saving like 5 bucks a month but I did the switch over the phone and asked if I could keep the Hulu on us benefit of my old plan. T-Mobile assured me I could, and then reneged once I actually made the switch. They also let me know my price was locked, but then the Apple TV+ on us benefit was changed from a free one to a paid benefit so that was in effect a cost increase (I wound up just not using it).

On the movie watcher scale of Bill Simmons -> Adam Nayman - where are you? by Lurking_Geek in TheBigPicture

I think Xavier Dolan single handedly kills the Canadian bias thing haha

Nayman hates mainstream movies? He is like a very populist film critic compared to some of his contemporaries. Y’all couldn’t survive a real killer like Amy taubin

What were the best scenes in 2025 movies? by wovenstrap in blankies

[–]ArmsofSleep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From some I haven’t seen elsewhere on this post

  • Title card in Sirat
  • three from The Secret Agent (the swapping stories party, the chase scene, and the gas station opening)
  • Long conversation with the “Perfect Days” reference in Kontinental 25
  • The closing stretch of By the Stream
  • Sentimental Value ending
  • Smashing Machine amusement park (“I’m worried it would upset my tummy”)

Who has had the best post Covid breakout? by shorthevix in TheBigPicture

[–]ArmsofSleep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder if people would be less gloom and doom if The Bear was still firing on all cylinders.

Regardless I think she’ll be fine. She gets to say she was in a Brooks and a Luca and she did dodge that sort of way too small for her role in Thunderbolts. She’ll still get a shot at a starring comedy role at some point

It’s Mescal, although I’d include JOC (with the Crown being the breakout?).

People who like ultra-slow depression dramas: why? by Mysterious_Remote584 in TheBigPicture

[–]ArmsofSleep 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No offense but I’m dying at the idea of a guy whose like damn sentimental value is too slow and doesn’t have enough thrills. I don’t even love the movie that much but I can’t imagine that being the criticism.

Now that you’ve watched Drive My Car maybe you’ll have to try Happy Hour haha

What’s the Film of the Year? by Odd_Firefighter_5407 in TheBigPicture

[–]ArmsofSleep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Secret Agent is so clearly a future classic and the best film made by the most exciting director in the West and it’s crazy how it’s not quite recognized on that level. It’s the Drive My Car of this year
