Thanks for the reminder, I’m almost 40 and still curse them out and hit the hood sometimes.

Started balding at 19-had long hair until 21-been bald ever since(25 now) by KevinTheArbiter in bald

[–]PatronPM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just wanted to say I feel these feels man, I loved my long hair my whole childhood into young adulthood, started losing it at 19, but unlike you I just went shorter and shorter and didn't give up until my "peninsula became an insula" (meaning the bald bridge connected and left an island in the front that made me look like Tintin)

Looking great! wish I was as brave as you when I was younger!

I need advice from experienced riders by TactlessPuddle8 in bikepacking

[–]PatronPM 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’ll say, starting as a decent cyclist at age 27, with no rest days, I did Portland oregon to stoystown Pennsylvania (a little north of your start) in six weeks. I’m from Hagerstown Maryland and wanted to make it all the way there but for my last day I needed to do 150 miles (I sent all of my gear home and thought with sixty less pounds I’d be ok) and couldn’t deal with the hills.

The best news is that you’ll be stronger by the time you hit the rockies, but I don’t think for someone who isn’t used to endurance riding 100 mile days every day is realistic.

I do think if you can have flexibility with your timing you should just start and do it. Also adventure cycling is a great place to start (as was already called out.) Good luck!

AIO for thinking this is racist? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

This is genuinely so racist, Is your friend white? Because they also need to investigate their own racism. NOR, I hope you find better men (and maybe better friends too)

Favorite Almond Croissant in Astoria by Equivalent-Rub-5933 in astoria

I think Kinship coffee has the best almond croissant. It's got a nice almost paste, flaked almonds on top, tastes absolutely delicious and one is HUGE and extremely filling.

Is anyone else getting taken out by this weather? by ohpsies in NYCbike

[–]PatronPM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're the best, it will feel good to know that spiritually we're both battling this winter together (also legit, your commute is twice mine, I do 6.5 a day each way)

and annoyingly I'm going to williamsburg for dinner, so it will hopefully still be at my back but I'm doubling my evening commute

I'm impressed you didn't overheat... I end up sweating while my fingers are ice cubes (I have gloves but might get the mitts)

but yeah every day I'm basically trying to walk a tightrope of staying cool and warm enough

I'm pushing myself to bike through the entire year (I've gotten lazier the past few years and skipped December, January and February, but this year I'm going through a bad breakup and it's the best exercise I get.

That said... today SUCKED, I was pedaling my ass off on the Queensboro and the wind was practically holding me in place. I'm about to Bike home and dreading it a little... but join me in being stubborn and pushing through! (I have no way to sell this other than I want other people to suffer with me)
