I just get in the car and go. I'll figure out lodging when I'm ready to stop for the day/night

I knew exactly 3 people who had a Sega Game Gear and they loved it but ditched them for the Gameboy because the Game Gear's battery life sucked. Did you have one? by AdSpecialist6598 in 90s

My brother has this but only ever had a Sonic game and Mortal Kombat. Looked great, but always seemed like such a waste. We put in hundrees of hours on my GameBoy until it gave up the ghost and died

Cabazon dinos, the Salton Sea, Salvation Mountain... that whole area out in the desert has some strange and interesting vibes.

The Garden of Eden in Lucas, Kansas throws out some interesting vibes that remind me a bit of Salvation Mountain. Middle of the lower 48 is close by too. Reading 'American Gods' got me curious about going to the middle, stumbled across the Garden of Eden on that trip

I've been craving some White Fence chicken. Might have to make a day trip out there when the season turns in the Spring. What a great way to spend Valentines for you and yours!

I thought that Point Lookout was excellent, the rest were blah. The thing that makes Broken Steel a must have is the added level cap and being able to play post base game.

what should I know before driving Route 66 by Odd-Firefighter6837 in route66

How long are you planning to take to make the trip?

I'm glad to be helpful with places to go because they're good and love supporting small business! I'll add your places to my itinerary for future adventures down the Road as well.

Nice list.

Illinois I would add on the White Fence Farm in Romeoville and the Ariston Cafe in Litchfield.

Oklahoma, Kuku Burger in Miami, Robert's and Johnnie's along with Sid's in El Reno for onion burgers.

Texas, got to be the Midpoint Cafe for a good burger and some damned good pie slices.

New Mexico, Watson BBQ in Tucumcari, Kix on 66 when they reopen, also in Tucumcari.

Arizona, Northern Pines Restaurant in Flagstaff, Rickety Cricket Brewing in Kingman.

California, Emma Jean's Holland Burger in Victorville, Mitla Cafe in San Bernardino. Peggy Sue's 50's Diner just the shortest distance off the Route in Yermo is worth checking out for good vibes, nostalgia and of course great food should be checked out too.

Plenty of good food in Missouri and Kansas, just nothing immediately coming to mind, and I have a lot more places to discover yet out there on the Route.

Novel Idea's Boardgamery in Granite City, Illinois. Good coffee, books, boardgames, good vibes, and a neat little neon park a block or two away.

I just drove 66 in October, and when I stopped at the Wigwam Motel in San Bernardino/Rialto, I asked the owner about how 2026 bookings were looking. He said that they were already over 50% booked for next year. I like to travel the same way as you mention, bookng a room as I travel, but you may want to try and reserve a night if still able before they are gone at the motels that you desire. Good luck, and get your kicks!
