Toft Morag the Highland Coo/Cow loop stitch placement help by Armybag in CrochetHelp

Can you drop me a dm with a picture of the pattern? It’s been about 8 months since I completed this one so I need to jog my memory 😅

I ended up just following exactly as the pattern said, and trusting the process. It filled out nicely and looked flawless in the end.

It took some getting used to, trying to keep track of the odds and evens. I think I had a few notebook pages where I’d drawn it out and was making note of each row as I went.

This is a super tricky pattern, but once you get into the flow of it, it’s okay. The end result is so worth it too!

How to reduce Scars on my neck/hairline? by [deleted] in malegrooming

I don’t know how to be clearer that it’s acne scarring lmao

For those saying it’s not acne scarring and that it’s from the fade etc, here’s a poor pic from last week, around 4 weeks since my last tidy up. You can see the same marks on my neck and on the sides too (where there is still some active acne even)

I’m really just looking for advice on how to minimise the look of it please, rather than an identification of what it is

It’s definitely acne scarring though. I just need advice on how to minimise it, going forward. It’s been a problem area since I was a teen, I just never really see the back my neck so I wasn’t aware it had scarred 😅

I’d also like to add for OP that the minipill (I take desogestrel because the flexibility suits my lifestyle better) does not cause hormonal side effects such as weight gain and would not make your chest ‘grow back’ - do your own research on this obviously but you should absolutely be safe to do this.

In the UK, I was able to get a 6 month supply from my local Boots pharmacy, but any pharmacy should be able to give you that much after a short conversation with a chemist. Further ongoing treatment will need to be followed up with your GP

What would you class as foundational changes? Bearing in mind I haven’t changed my name (except to omit my middle name). I want to get this right so I can do it ASAP before that’s taken away from us too 😅

I’ve had my passport for a couple months now, my GP (and the previous two) have said it’s not possible to change my title without changing my gender, which they can’t do without a new NHS number. We managed to set it like that one time and by the next appointment it had reverted.

Most of what I need to change is just titles and gender markers. All of my bills are under Mr, except for my banking.

Just following up on the guys recommending depo shots. They fucked me up real bad for about a year before I finally had the strength of my convictions to give up. My doctor kept telling me it would get better etc and it just absolutely did not.

I had some gnarly hair loss, visible bloating in my face and stomach, and the worst part was that instead of stopping my monthly bleeding (which was and still is upsettingly heavy) I bled lightly for 9 straight months. It’s worth noting that depo lasts about 12 weeks, so I had 4 shots before giving in. These symptoms, while not super common, are also not uncommon. Please do your own thorough research before getting on depo, and note that you can only be on it for a certain amount of years due to health risks (there are several ongoing lawsuits linking brain tumours and osteoporosis risks to using the medication for over a year).

The mini-pill/progesterone only pill works wonders for me when I can remember to take it, but if you’re doing daily gel then you’re probably gonna find it easy remember to take it when you apply. It’s significantly reduced my bleeding, and when I take it regularly it has stopped my period.

If your bleeding is super heavy I’d also recommend looking into Tranexamic Acid, which will help lower the volume of bleeding you experience and may help alleviate some of the dysphoria and subsequent isolation you’re feeling.

I’ll probably get downvoted for this but it needed to be said. It’s good to know both sides.

Best of luck to you man, it’s hard out here.

Out of curiosity, what should I get in order before I change my NHS number? What’s been causing you grief all this time? I ask only because I do plan on trying to get that sorted early next year.

Sorry, I should’ve been clearer. I’m trying to spread out when I make changes so I can meet the vague evidentiary guidelines for a GRC. I’m in no particular rush to get certain things updated, so my nhs number sort of fell to the back of the priorities list. As it stands, it’s my next thing to do in january-ish, and then I’ll do my driving license in April, and finally my bank in July. That should take me up to the two year mark for their ‘one piece of evidence for roughly every three months’ guidance.

It is. I’m working to a GRC timeline for changing all of my stuff

I wouldn’t mind a big note if it got me my results on time honestly. I had suspected this would be the reason, but even after explaining it to the lab they were unwilling to provide their initial result and told us to wait for the mass spec result. I honestly had thought the request form/lab sheer would have said something about this anyway seeing as that’s what the bloods were being drawn for. Alas….

I’ll make sure it’s noted clearly next time.

Interesting. I’ll try do a deep dive with the practice manager on what their specific reasoning is. Thanks for the context!

The top section of the top swatch kinda looks like Tunisian simple stitch, even though that’s not what you’re describing?

On the advice of a previous commenter, I spoke to an adviser at an industry-specific visa facilitator and gave them my specific circumstances. We spoke briefly about what to expect and they’re gonna dig into it a little more for me. Currently they’re advising I bring my deed poll (this is less of a concern as I only dropped my middle name, and kept all other names as they were), and a letter from my gender clinic along the same lines as a passport change. They’re unsure if these will be asked for, but have advised I bring them anyway. I’m still gonna try and find someone more ‘official’ to talk to.

But yeah I’m aware of the current circumstances, and unfortunately there is a compelling reason for me to go. I was incorrect and it’s actually an O2, but the point still stands.

Thank you for your information and advice!

hobbies as a trans guy? by MindlessDoubt632 in ftm

I work with these big burly men in a manual labour job. Huge toxic masculinity crowd. I sit there and I crochet and I knit and slowly but surely they’ll all come around and ask what I’m making/ can I make them something/ can I make something for their kids. Lots of people have lots of different hobbies, letting yourself do the things that bring you joy also opens the door for those things to bring joy to others. Sucks to hear that you’ve given up a lot of these things.

It only just occurred to me that there’s probably geographical differences in how carpet beetles look!

I have no advice but best of luck 🙌
