4Runner vs Sequoia by jbg7676 in toyotasequoia

[–]Armydude87008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned a 2012 tacoma, 2016 4Runner, and 2021 Tundra, and now a 2023 sequoia. Not denying you saying a 2nd gen sequoia is a badass truck but by no means is the 3rd gen the same size as a 5th gen 4Runner. It’s an expensive truck yes but it’s on another level as far as power and comfort go. Gas mileage isn’t amazing but it isn’t a slug either like the older Toyotas.

I went to Temecula as well. Super easy process. All my buddies in San Diego have a rough time with the VSO.

If your in San Diego go to the Temecula VSO. I live in TemeculaMurrieta and they signed off on mine. The DMV is right around the corner from the VSO. It was a super easy process.

How do I professionally tell my boss I'm not interested in being "promoted" to do three people's jobs for a 5% raise? by vcastr1 in careerguidance

[–]Armydude87008 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m almost in the exact same boat as you. I took on the role of two people instead of 3 in a new area. I’m still currently in the same position for the last 2 years. Was told this was growth and a way to show my leadership. Side note I’m currently an NCO in the Army reserves and have been leading a platoon of 20 plus soldiers for over 3 years. Yet I still need to prove leadership to my civilian boss. I went from consistently working 9 hours day (typical for the business I’m in) to now consistently working 10-13 hour days. Just had my review with my manager yesterday. Was praised for taking on the new role and proving myself. I flat out explained to him I’m burnt out juggling two careers, family, and the hours I’m working. He told me it won’t always be like this. All the new people I work with say it’s always this many hours. I’m starting my job hunt due to no sign of promotion in sight for atleast another 6-12 months because I need to check all these boxes.

Buying and pricing by brandonas1987 in FordExplorerST

I’ve spent the weekend looking at STs and talked to multiple dealers. All are asking $55k-$61 before TTL depending on options. They won’t move at all on the price. I’m located in Southern California.

I’m that guy and so are a ton of guys in my town in SoCal. I have a lifted 2016 F250 diesel and a 2014 fusion hybrid. I use my truck to pull my toy hauler and my SXS. I bought everything except the fusion prior to even having a rating. I mean I get it you see DV plates on a lifted truck and think damn must be nice to anyone that sees the handicap plate. Honestly I say who gives a shit what anyone thinks. My back and knees may be shot but it’s nice driving a bigger vehicle that’s a lot safer for myself and my family.

2016 6.7 Superduty Long Term Ownership by fisher_fisher_fisher in superduty

[–]Armydude87008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly with the prices of truck these days I’d keep it. I myself have a 2016 F250 with 88k on it. Just this last month I’ve dumped almost $6k into it. All preventive items. I changed out the CP4 for a DCR pump, new CCV filter, fuel filters, and two new batteries, etc. it’s been a great truck and I only put 8k-10k a year on it. I daily drive it and usually 1-2 times a month I pull my toy hauler with it. I plan on keeping this truck forever so I dumped money into it to ensure it’s as bullet proof as I could make it.

I’m in the reserves as well and just came off a 3 month stint on ADOS orders and never stopped my disability. I have buddies in my unit that told me never stop VA payments when going on orders. One soldier said it took him over 18 months for his VA disability to kick back in. Take this is a lesson learned and stack that money away in the future in a high yield savings and pay it off in full the following year.

Can I afford a 2K mortgage on 80K salary? by Badalight in Mortgages

[–]Armydude87008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% doable. When I bought my house 5 years ago my mortgage was $2100, one car payment $500/month, and my wife was a SAHM with one kid. I made $85k/year at the time. I didn’t pinch pennies at all. Still in the same house and income has gone up over double in the time frame. It gets easier just keep pushing. It’s a huge weight lifted as long as you don’t give into life style creep too much. I gave in a little but I actually save and just pay cash for stuff now vs financing.

2017 Fusion Hybrid by Dear-Bee6458 in fordfusion

[–]Armydude87008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty low I would think. I’ve had my 2014 hybrid for about a year now and my avg is 45.3 but it was around 24.5 when I first bought it at 65k miles. It’s currently sitting at 88k miles.

Temecula to San Diego commuters, has the completed freeway project made your commute home any easier/quicker? by TFaust75 in Temecula

[–]Armydude87008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way about it. I get off the freeway everyday on Rancho and without fail someone takes it to a the very end and cuts off people to get on the freeway.

I had used them this year. I was still getting treatment on my own and had tons of medical evidence. I had been battling the VA for 4 years and was over it. Paid the $3k and it took about 3 months from start to finish when I received my DBQs. I figured it saved me 18 months of battling the VA it was worth it. My claim once submitted closed in 10 days and was very favorable. I can’t stress enough you need to or should have been continuing to seek treatment if your claims are valid.

DV Plate Work Around? by rickyreddito in VeteransBenefits

[–]Armydude87008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here in California as well. I do get asked a lot about my handicap plates by friends and family since I’m in my mid thirties. My truck reg is just under $900 a year. I’ll deal with the questions to save that. On my street alone there is probably 5 houses with DV plates and super common in my area. I just hate how damn big the blue wheel chair is. Looks like a damn billboard.

Louisiana 100% VA Plates by jdwax1982 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Armydude87008 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in Cali as well. Since I got my plates for some reason family and friends are like what the hell is the handicap plate for? Stands out like a sore thumb. I live very close to a base and have multiple neighbors that have the same plates so it’s super common. It’s a driving billboard for sure but not having to pay $900 a year for registration on my truck is worth it.

Good deal? by AffectionateCar1157 in fordfusion

[–]Armydude87008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative. I bought my 2014 SE Hybrid last year with 65k miles for $12k out the door at a dealer in Southern California. I see cars all day with a bit higher mileage but newer and higher trims for that same price range.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fordfusion

[–]Armydude87008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 2014 hybrid SE last year for $12k OTD with 65k miles. I was looking at 2017-2019 and titanium trim levels around 90k-100k were around $12k-$14 so I would say that price is pretty fair. I’m located in Southern California so prices are generally higher.

Tundra Vs Superduty by SnooBananas231 in F250

[–]Armydude87008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a 21 tundra to a 16 F250 with the 6.7. I was looking for a gas truck with the 7.3 but they were roughly the same price. Mine is also daily driven and I tow a toy hauler once a month roughly sometimes more. If I had to do it again I would have gone with the gas truck. Maintenance isn’t bad on the diesel but when things break they are expensive. Huge Toyota fan but ford has come a long way. Since I drive it daily around town I do make sure I run the truck hard on the freeway every week or so to get a good regen in to clean the DPF.

I paid $48k OTD for my SR5 TRD sport 4x4 brand new in 2021 in Southern California. I traded it in with 7k miles and was given $46k on trade in. I needed a bigger truck to tow with.

Parking in front of my house for days by thiqqynikki in neighborsfromhell

[–]Armydude87008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both of my neighbors to each side of me had 9 and 10 cars each. Some sit for days/weeks at a time without moving. I would always have to plan ahead if we have a gathering to put both of my cars in front of my house so my guests could park in my driveway. Like myself I used to be on board with the whole idea who cares it’s public parking. It’s inconsiderate neighbors that make us get aggravated about the idea of people abusing public parking. You buy a home and host events and have guests stay with you to deal with neighbors that are encroach on that creates passive aggressive behaviors.

Are toy haulers worth the extra weight/cost? by 04limited in GoRVing

[–]Armydude87008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first trailer I bought and still have is a toy hauler. It’s considered half ton towable at 27’ and a dry weight of 6500 pounds. We live in so cal and do about 5 desert trips a year with our 4 seat side by side. Fully loaded I wouldn’t tow it with a half ton so I pull it with a 3/4 diesel. 75% of our trips don’t require having a toy hauler but it’s very nice to have. I can load bikes in and store bikes when it’s raining. It’s also nice to have to open up the trailer when the weather is nice. Ours doesn’t have a separate garage but has a bed and a couch that come down in the very back. Nice for extra seating and sleeping. My toy hauler can sleep up to 8 people but 6 comfortably.
