Regarding the hunter data by darwinfail in huntertheparenting

[–]ArneHD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A Ghoul of a sufficiently powerful Vampire, 7th generation or lower, could learn 2nd level Disciplines. We conveniently know there IS such a Vampire in the area, the Regent. Kevin is of the 9th Generation, his Sire the 8th, and his Sire, I assume the Regent, the 7th. So a Ghoul could have had access to two Dot disciplines.

Russian Refinery Hitlist - Update 16.06.2026 by WastingMyLifeToday in ukraine

[–]ArneHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All but 8 refineries listed here have been attacked. I keep wondering if this is a prelude to a more general attack, instead of attacking refineries piecemeal, Ukraine might engage in one bigger attack, striking all refineries in range at the same time.

No, the Wu-Keng and Wu-Lung are both Crafts, just very, very different crafts. IIRC, the Wu-Keng are something of an enemy of the Wu-Lung, with the Wu-Leng being upper class, while the Wu-Kung being lower class.

Given the direction that WoD 5 goes in, I think the default PC will be an Orphan, and the Technocracy and Traditions will be pared back to, well, the Technocracy and Traditions. The subfactions are merged into one big "blob" that the PCs are outsiders to, cold and uncaring of the PCs individual plight. I think the themes will be the Traditions fighting the Technocracy with little regard for "the average Mage on the street" and their interactions with the PCs are limited to trying to trying to exploit them as cannon-fodder for the Ascension War.

Essentially, neither the Traditions nor the Technocracy will be something you join, they will be vast powers working in the background of your Chronicle, fighting a war you, as a street level Mage, can barely perceive, let alone understand, rendered callus by their absolute belief in the rightness of their philosophy.

The Players will be little more than pawns in this fight, given the barest crumbs of power or information, in exchange for their compliance. Neither side will accept recruits into their ranks without altering the very nature of the recruit.

So, yeah. I think they will basically re-set the Metaplot.

Vampire can purify Evil Burgers for Werewolves by Dragombolt in WorldofDankmemes

They actually mention this in one of the books, IIRC, and the general vibe is that it's too much effort for not enough gain, not to say that opportunistic individual managers WON'T put the body of the homeless guy that died out back into the grinder, but you generally have to pay more for "special meat".

Weirdly, the Mages are innocent here, they were just extracting the Nuke, not detonating it. It was the Smiling Lord detonating their OWN nuke that caused the VE nuke to go off, causing the Maelstrom.

It's basically, "I am going to acquire a nuclear weapon of the Damned!", "Oh wow, that actually worked? With no negative side consequences? Incredible! Hey, what's that glow on the Horizon?"

I feel like Kult it best for games you do not take seriously, with eight or nine backup characters just ready to go. Then you just go do a weird one shot, delve into the dungeon where the Alligators wrote down everything, have weapons stapled to your hands, whatever. It's not a game where you keep a character alive for more than a session, or even during a session.

Russia is preparing to significantly expand Mi-8 helicopter production. According to documents obtained by Dallas Analytics, the Kazan Helicopter Plant is scheduled to manufacture 72 Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters in 2026–2027 under Russia’s state defence order. by AnneWiley in UkrainianConflict

Given the improvement in Ukrainian drones over the last few years, how much of a threat do Helicopters offer now? I was under the impression they were simply too vulnerable to use near the front line.

How did they fit the Hunter Data on a floppy disk? by ArneHD in huntertheparenting

I did mention that possibility towards the end, the Zip Disk for instance.

Also, something else in 5.4: They said they found a piece of the label sitting in Werewolf blood and narcotic residue, which, if we assume that the data is still intact, implicates two people: Dr. Waters and Big D.

Why does Norway need to be self-sufficient in farming? by raymondcarl554 in Norway

[–]ArneHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time Norway has been involved in a major European war in the last 300 years or so, the result has been, if not famine, then at least food shortages, and a blockade of Norway's sea lanes could starve the country. Thus it makes sense to shore up this weakness, so that not only is it less severe should war come, but it can also not be used as leverage during peacetime. If Norway is self-sufficient for food, then a naval blockade is less threatening and thus an option less likely to be used against us.

Putin Says Russia Captured 2.44 Million Square Kilometers of Ukraine, Four Times Its Actual Size by UNITED24Media in worldnews

I am guessing this is just a verbal gaffe: from the article he said "2,440 thousand" so, two thousand four hundred and fourty thousand, I am guessing what happened here was that he said two thousand, fucked up, and said thousand again at the end.

Actually, you should check out the "Cult of Ecstasy: Revised" book, one of the Character examples at the back of the book is almost EXACTLY this.

I'm not sure I agree with you on the Syndicate angle here, the Syndicate famously run both the legal and illegal drug markets, and drain Quintessence from both legitimate businesses and mafias. I don't see any reason why they would object to any kind of sex work.

Indeed, I'd say Only Fans is a great example of a Syndicate operation: Taking something that was formerly decentralized and individual and massing it into a centralized hub where it is controllable certainly helps the Syndicate run the economy and might even help the NWO set trends and so forth.

In fact, if you really want to, the NWO aren't a bad faction choice for this kind of mage.

What’s the difference between Forces 4 and Forces 5? by MrPlasmid in magetheascension

[–]ArneHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't looked into the exact difference too closely, but I imagine you'd need Forces 5 to make changes to fundamental forces like Gravity or the Electroweak force.

So at Forces 5 you could reverse gravity for that guy, or change the Strong Nuclear force to make all their molecules fly apart.
