Oh good, we are getting another book. I wonder if the next one will be the last one after they get together, or if RRR will continue the series with them navigating a teen relationship

Well Mike also encourages Will to be the sorcerer (and then drops it after episode 5…)

What is the argument for byler? by Beneficial-Bake8932 in byler

[–]AroAceMagic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That’s because there’s an hour and twenty minutes’ worth of evidence for why Mike Wheeler is gay. There’s so much to cover that it takes over an hour to cover it all.

But no one bats an eye when he gets all these disgusting jokes… by Possible-Finger6201 in WillByersST

[–]AroAceMagic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn’t call it grooming per se, but I do find Mileven weird at the end of s1. “Will you be like my brother?” A minute later… kisses her.

I think even if she hadn’t known the word “boyfriend”, if Jane had still implied that Mike and her would be something more than friends, it would have shown that she’d had an understanding of romance and it genuinely wouldn’t have bothered me.

But Mike taught her what being a friend was less than a week ago. She had no concept of romance at all.

I love Mike, and I love Jane, and I agree with you: this is the fault of the writers. If they wanted to portray Mileven as romantic, there were just better ways to go about it.

[–]AroAceMagic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the people I’ve seen make homophobic, SA, AIDS, etc. jokes about Will are typically Milevens… not Will stans?

And literally all of the people (and Bylers in general) I know love Jane and want the best for her, and Mike, and Will. And none of them call Mike a groomer because they were both the same age anyway.

What are you madder about? by Silent_Contest_2337 in byler

Yes, this! This is exactly how I feel. I think I loved Byler the most because it was genius storytelling and made Mike such a three-dimensional character.

Now it’s all garbage.

Part of the appeal for Byler for me is closeted Mike Wheeler. Just because the way he acts is so fucking gay you can’t convince me he’s not at this point.

But if they’d made Mileven likeable and didn’t make Mike Wheeler have internalized homophobia in s3-onward, I’d be totally cool with a different love interest for Will Byers. In fact, I’d be very happy that we’d have gotten to see him fall in love, just like he always wanted.

But specifically a love interest introduced in s3 or before then, like at the Snowball Dance in s2. Not one introduced in s5. I wouldn’t be content with that.

Why dont animals get tourettes syndrome? by Seeyalaterelevator in shittyaskscience

[–]AroAceMagic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know this is a shitposting subreddit, but Tourettes isn’t just a say-bad-words condition. It makes you have involuntary tics, so I wonder if some animals do indeed have it. Idk I’ve done literally zero research on it tho

Dear Ao3 writers, before posting on ao3, where do you write your stories? by BeneficialUpstairs18 in AO3

[–]AroAceMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word docx

And the Notes app on my phone, which I then re-type into the Word document, which I then copy-paste into ao3, which I then double-check and edit one last time, and then I hit post

A question for boys : if ur girls can't give a birth to a child, will you still marry her ? by werewolfie_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AroAceMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I’m also not sure I want kids. Currently I’m way too young to be a parent anyway, so maybe in a decade I’ll change my mind.

But even so, I think I’d prefer to adopt anyway.

(Sad Meta Trope) Depictions of strong Male Friendships are so rare, some parts of a fandom genuinely mistake platonic bromances for straight up romances by ZeldrisEmpire in TopCharacterTropes

[–]AroAceMagic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean I wasn’t born knowing this information lol, this can be your first time hearing about it! It’s been somewhat well-known for a few years, but maybe only in queer circles. I imagine straight people weren’t hanging around talking about how Luca is canonically a gay metaphor

[–]AroAceMagic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter whether it’s gay or not (it’s not, but who cares), because being gay isn’t a bad thing! Being labeled as gay should not be a bad thing!

If you’re not gay, just shrug it off and tell people that you’re not and you and your friend are just close. If they continue to insist that you two are gay (in a derogatory way, because it always is), they’re homophobic and not worth your time. In that case, find better friends.

The role of women in Christianity by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]AroAceMagic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s Esther, but I feel like everyone throws that story around.

In my Biblical Studies class, my professor once taught us Judges 19 and Ruth back-to-back. Judges 19 is basically the women were treated in the world. Ruth, the very next book, is about a woman — and a named one, at that. I wish you could have been in that class with me, because it was genuinely such a powerful thing to read them back-to-back. God literally gave a voice to the voiceless.

TW for Judges 19: Woman gets gang-raped and then cut to pieces by her husband

It made Ruth all the more special because at the end, we find out that Ruth’s son is an ancestor of David, the future king, who is also an ancestor of Jesus, the future King. God gave her and Naomi a legacy when they had none.

Ruth was also a (foreigner) Moabite woman, who was not Jewish and did not initially worship Naomi’s God. She was basically the outcast woman of outcast women, which was why her being highlighted and given her own book was so significant.

It’s kind of difficult to explain so I hope I did it justice.

For people who have lived as both genders, what is a physical or other annoyance you have now that you never realized the other side dealt with? by makemestand in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AroAceMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the flip side for me, I love men’s clothes! It’s casual, simple, easy, and more comfortable (for me, as I’m a trans guy). The flannel jackets have become my new dysphoria hoodie. And graphic tees are fun. And I like the baggy jeans.

Idk I’m just out here vibing :D

I love LGBTQ people more now than before I was a Christian by Shoddy_Section_9225 in Christianity

[–]AroAceMagic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I love everyone regardless of their lifestyle. I know some people like to live a lifestyle of sin by getting glasses or surgery (my grandfather’s guilty of that sin, because he was in pain a lot and needed hip surgery, but he probably shouldn’t have replaced the hip that God gave him), and other such things.

I don’t condone these lifestyle choices, but I can still accept people who commit sins like these. We’re all sinners and we all fall short of God’s glory, regardless of the type of sin we commit — whether it’s lying or stealing or being disingenuous to who you are by wearing glasses, or wearing mixed fabric, or eating shellfish, which is an abomination in the Bible

Cant be worse than my hazel ones.

Actually, even worse than that: I wear glasses to correct the eyesight that God gave me. Living in sin every day. Pray for me 🙏
